We recently stayed for 6 nights at this campground. And we loved it! We camped in the overflow camping area that is tent camping only. Not too far of a walk to the bathrooms/showers. The showers were free. There was a sign saying they were renovating soon. The beach bathroom is actually in great condition, super clean! As far as the actually camping aspect, our only complaint was how close we were to the other sites. We prefer to be more secluded when we camp, but hey the payoff of a 5 minute (if that) walk to the beach is so worth it. We were so busy at the beach and spending time at nearby attractions that it didnt matter being that close to others. As far as the state Park as a whole goes, it is gorgeous!! The beach is beautiful, fishing pier doesnt cost extra to walk on. We did not go fishing, but I believe its $5 a person to fish. Gift shop has nice gifts, refreshments and ice cream, clean bathrooms. We also took a nature walk, spotted a small snake and relaxed. I was super concerned about the threat of copperheads before we camped here. Coming from a place that does not have venomous snakes it was nerve racking reading of stories and warnings. Just be sure to bring a flashlight and close toed shoes at night. We did not encounter a copperhead!

We love this campground. Tents, campers and cabins here. Water and electric too for most sites. Lots of trees which means shade!! Rangers are nice. Nature center is small but has some educational stuff, weird hours. There are many little trails to walk. Just wish the bath houses were cleaner. But I think its the camper fault because sure they are cleaned daily... may need three times a day during season. The store has everything you should need in case you forgot something. There is a playground on campground and in the state park area. Walk, ride bikes, take your golf cart or even drive over to the nearest beach access. There are life guards but they arent watching your kids.... so watch your kids. The guards are there to enforce the rules and take money for chairs and umbrellas. The chairs and umbrellas are in need of replacement! They cost $35 a day cash or $38.50 if Using a card. We thought it was a scam at first because the chairs are awful.... but no. Its the real price. Do not bring canopies or pop ups. You can only have umbrellas that dont tie down and staked down. No alcohol allowed in campground or beach. Go t the Left at the beach... less crowded. Loads of sharks teeth to be found here. Enjoy!!!

I REALLY wanted to give this place 5 stars but I felt like I have to be completely honest with this review. First off... we are not occasional campers. We camp religiously in the spring, summer, and fall. When I called reserve America I specifically asked (as I do when I book any Campground) if quiet hours are enforced and If they arent, if there is a Ranger number to call to get it straightened out. Was told yes. I asked the SAME question when we got here and was told the same thing. "Just call the Ranger number" Well for TWO days there have been a group of 15 or so people shoved into ONE campsite behind us (this place only allows 6 to a site) and last night they went till 2:30am. Its almost 1am now on the second night and theyre partying, screaming etc... I had enough and called the numbers half a dozen times... cant get anyone. Listen... a campground is NOT measured by the inconsiderable actions of some campers....it IS measured though on how the campground reacts... and they were non existent So if you have little ones like we do... the campground clearly doesnt care what happens after they close so go to another place that does enforce their own rules. You would expect more from a state park....

NOT IMPRESSED!! Even left early,, this place is in not very well kept! the shower heads hardly even worked, not much water pressure, couldnt adjust the cold and hot right with the shower faucets, then the bath rooms were nasty and the fan couldnt exhaust out because they were so full of dirt. then the bathhouse walk way went by our site,, NO FENCES at all between our camp site and the bathhouse walkway so people were walking by half the night shining flashlights in out tent. next they say after 10 is quite time but that is a bunch of bull,, people are walking all over the park till 3 or 4 in the morning, talking, shining lights in your tent, walking dogs,, even running right thru the middle of our camp site at 2am. just a loud, dirty campground with no enforcement of rules,, even had people 2 sites down with 3 dogs in cages,, constantly barking and then they would yell at the dogs to shut up,, other campers were not happy but the park didnt do anything about it.. anyway I paid good money for a horrible experience and even packed up and left a day early simply due to the diss satisfaction of it all. dont waste your money camping here!

This is the worst place I have camped at the worst possible time of the year. We went in summer , so we are partly to blame for this terrible experience. My tent was a furnace when we returned tired from water sports. And the place is completely booked ALWAYS. So no hopes of switching sites so something shady. The restrooms are easily 400 feet away so do not get premed or kids. The map may show some tent sites to be next to the ocean but no campsite is next to the ocean. The park looks great entering with its cool shady entrance but thats all that there is. There are three hiking trails and u cannot put your own shade tent on the beach. The sites are so crowded there is not privacy at all. I repent that I have booked two nights here but they dont give u an option of booking one night. I think its a gimmick to lure u with their great entrance and "no vacancy" boards. I will never return here, definitely not in summer.

The beginning of April 2017 the water was pretty chilly, but walking along the beach thru the water was good. You can swim, other people were, and collect some shells (most are chunks or have a hole but a few are okay) and walk down to the hotel part of the beach if you want (dont go to Mama Mias Pizza if you go there, it is both overpriced and skimpy on toppings on a terrible "industrial" crust - blah). The park doesnt really have paths to walk. The primitive camping is $18- $25, and goes up from there - I dont think they should charge that much. And the store charges $3.05 for one *quart* of milk! Outrageous! That is $12.20 per gallon for plain white milk! The showers are hot, unless someone runs a faucet, then it becomes COLD, quite a shock! I did not see any fire ants, that is good. The ocean for some reason had brown cloudy water when you look down from the fishing pier.
