I usually go to the Rave Cinema near Penn because I live close and am very happy with it. I was given a Regal Cinema gift card, and Riverview is part of that corporate group, so despite the negative reviews I went because I had the card. I have to say it was really great. FREE nearby Parking!!!! There is a normal but small parking lot in front, for handicapped patrons, but since its the whole lot some are farther from door... as far as half a short block, & they fill up FAST so bring your walker or a friend if you cant get a block on a cane. Literally you hop across a tiny street & there is tons of free parking for other patrons YES under the 95 ramp, why is this a problem? Pennsport is a good working/middle class neighborhood, not a bad one at all in terms of Philly. The cinaplex is huge with 4 floors with accessible-only entrances into each of 20 odd theaters. However the doors are not automatic, which may be a problem for some ppl. They *only* take your ticket when you come in. Thats right, there are NO ONE taking tickets at ec theater - once you come in, you are not required to have a ticket on you to get in any theater. So if you dont like your movie you can just switch. However, once youre past the ticket seller, there is no way to find out what films are playing or at what times or floors & the ind theaters are not labeled. So its a gamble. So if you are the type to walk out of a film by 15 if its bad, have a back up prepared, & just tell a worker (if you can find one) or another patron youre lost and looking for "x" film & you should be fine. Two mens rms I used were very clean, the 3rd a little less so due to the last person in the stall, but that happens. The prices are a little high for 3D, and the snacks are a ripoff but theyre a ripoff everywhere. I had to try 2 seats the first wasnt comfortable, but that may be due to my disability. The 2nd was fine, but not as cushy as the Rave. I saw 3 films and no one was talking in any of them except maybe once or twice someone says "damn!" at an action shot or surprise. Nobody acted trashy or "ghetto" & I saw a pixar/disney/3D flick, a vampire-action-nerd flick and a romantic dramedy with audiences very small for sat night and ranging from children to adults. Very racially mixed, 40/40 black and white and 10% east asian, maybe 1 spanish couple. The staff were all very polite and helpful. They were also young & black. However there was not a ton of staff, they didnt man each theater, if you need that sort of thing. There were some rowdy white boys playing video games but really thats what the video arcade is for. After reading all the negative reviews I was pleasantly surprised. For those of you not from here, this theater and location is the furthest thing from a ghetto or bad neighborhood in philly, and after my experience I cant help but think some reviewers were either unlucky & got some talkers in their theater, or are racist? And this is coming from a white person who doesnt care about being PC but I do care about telling the truth and none of the people there seemed "ghetto" at all unless by "ghetto" what reviewers really mean is "black".

I have been taking my two sons to Riverview for years. My husband works at night so I take them out alone. I have never had any trouble, which would be inevitable if there were "Bloods and Crips" hanging out there. I find come of your choice of words "interesting" because in my opinion, whos to say that the trouble is caused by the "Bloods or Crips?" Maybe it is the "Skin Heads and KKK" It seems that you are being a bit racial here. I have been to other so called "good theaters" and you know what I have found? All people have mouths and they still talk and interrupt the movie, sometimes. Sometimes these theaters are worse. Also, the United Artist Riverview Theater is very accessible to many teens who do not have cars, they have video games and air conditioning for kids who would otherwise hang out in the street and get into trouble, but I guess that is ok, as long as they do not dont it in "Little Italy" (The white part of South Philly) I will always support Riverview Theater, so get used to us!!!!! Hate is a powerful thing.

Our movie supposedly had "Premium Experience" sound. Apparently, a Premium Experience is when ordinary speech levels in the movie are painfully loud and anything beyond that practically blows out your eardrums. It was already obvious during the previews that this was going to be a problem, so I went to ticket booth and notified the staff of the situation. (And it wasnt just me --- my whole group was unhappy with the noise levels.) I was very polite, since I know desk staff are generally not the ones who set the volume controls, but the people I spoke with were remarkably unsympathetic and basically just brushed me off. The volume levels did not improve noticeably. My friends and I ended up improvising earplugs from napkins and still left with our ears ringing. I spoke to a different staff member on the way out and got basically the same level of indifference. The movie was decent enough, but the benefits of seeing it on a big screen didnt really seem worth the risk of permanent hearing damage. I doubt Ill be going back.

The most nasty Theater I ever been to, First the security are ghetto and rude and disrespectful . they are racist. All employees feel like thats their home . I think this place should be shut down. They talk to you rude and ghetto. First time I went there and it will be my last time . is so nasty you cant even watch movie because people are so creepy with their cell phones and talking so annoying. The manager doesnt give a crap about anything. I just wonder who is hiring these rude people they act like animals . in knowing that they should respect the costumer because of the costumer they get that little money to spend for food but no they are so ignorant I just hate this place so much. And Im glad I went and saw it because I wont make mistake go again, dont have words I just know is the worst worst. At least I went there and took my money back from that creepy place . horrible and so nasty. I recommend Franklin Mills Theater

Ugh! Been here twice and enough is enough already! I will not be going back! Worse theater in Philadelphia and the most expensive. Full of ignorant Ghetto assed people everywhere talking loud, laughing, yelling and texting, throughout the entire movie. Why the hell do you pay to come to a movie to talk or even make phone calls during the movie? Stay home so the rest of us civilized folks can enjoy it! Then theres the question of security. I saw a man with a backpack sneak into the movie an hour after the movie started. I suspected that he came out of another movie. There was no staff around to be found anywhere before during or after the movie. My concern is with all thats going on in the world why the hell would anyone even be allowed to come in with a backpack in the first place? So much for security. If you value your money, your sanity and your safety go elsewhere!!!!
