Had the MOST unpleasant experience at Spring Gate this week! We were having guests come in from out of town who wanted to to experience some red wines made in PA. So, we tried to call Spring Gate to see if we needed a reservation for a tasting for Saturday. We called several times Thursday and Friday and the line was busy. So, we emailed. Saturday afternoon came and we hadnt gotten an answer so we decided to just drive over to the vineyard. We got there and saw tons of cars and the parking attendants told us there was an event going on but we could still go in for a tasting. There were three wines available outside (with plastic cups and very rushed) for free, but none where the wines we were interested in. We went inside and they told us there was a private tasting going on and we could only buy a bottle a wine. So we did. All of this wouldve been fine except we got an email from the owner/management FINALLY after we had left in which he implied that noone uses phones anymore and that we should check the facebook page for events. He went on to say, " one of the reasons the partners here co-invented the commercial internet in the late 80s and the 90s was the non-scalability of the telephone model. were not real keen on hiring Indians to answer questions. We know that at two years old, it is very difficult and very expensive to take the deluge of phone calls. traditional, low traffic wineries like Allegro, Waltzs, Grandview are probably what you are looking for in the future. their red wines are spectacular" Seriously? So basically were crazy for expecting someone to answer the phone at the number posted on the website. And were incomponent not understanding that just because there are event flyers posted on the page that from that we should know whether there are full wine tastings available. Then he recommends that we go somewhere else in the future?? Wow!!! NOT PLEASED!!!

I would NOT recommend going to spring gate winery. I recently went with a large group of friends and our night was ruined because we were disrespected by the employees and owner. We were asked us to leave for doing absolutely nothing wrong! It was utterly ridiculous. We went with the intention of having dinner there since they advertised that they serve food. The food trucks closed at 7 so we were not able to get food as we arrived at 715. When I asked the bartender if they sold food there, he said no and suggested ordering pizza. When the pizza arrived, the employees at the gate would not allow it in. It was a big ordeal that could have been handled more respectfully. In turn, they then asked us to leave as per the owners request. We were flabbergasted because an employee was the one to suggest the pizza, it wasnt even our idea!! Although, he should not be to blame. Management clearly has not trained their staff properly since employees are misinformed. We wouldnt have brought outside food in if we realized we were doing something wrong. We like to be respectful to establishments we go to and would like the same courtesy in return. Spring gate was not the chill, laid back scene we thought it was. We will never return and I hope we can dissuade others from going there as well!

Went on a Wednesday Wine Slushy night. $15 gets you a (maybe?) 16 ounce growler with $5 refills, which can be used for future events. The two different varieties were absolutely delicious, and perfect on warm summer night. There was plenty of seating, and our party of 8 were able to sit in a "circle" in relative privacy. It was a great place for an impromptu girls night out. The biggest downside was the lines, hence the 4 star rating. Only one of two advertised food trucks came, so the lines were exceptionally long, and the food truck started running out of food. Then there was the line at the wine slushys. By the time you got your food and stood in line for a refill, it was time to go home. (Hours for this event were from 5-9pm). Parking is what you would find at a county fair, and not super friendly for wheelchairs or people with mobility issues. All that aside, this property is only minutes from Route 22 in the Colonial Park area, and yet it feels like you are far in the country. Its a a fun alternative to your typical restaurant, and I look forward to attending a future event.

This is a great winery, but I was very disappointed to see so many small children! Why are parents bringing small children to an adult gathering of alcohol consumption is beyond me! There is no playground equipment, unless an army of children comandeering a corn hole board counts. I had the misfortune to smell a diaper change before I saw junior spread eagle of the ground for a diaper change, as the stench wafted across my crab cake sandwich. Wise and responsible parents get a sitter or accompany their kids to Chuck E. Cheese, not a winery packed with adults! For the record, I am a parent! I would never drag my kid off to a winery so I could drink and then drive them home! Whats next, family friendly vape shops?

My husband and I had an awesome experience from the parking attendant to vendors and staff. Your given 5 free wine tastings at 1st stand and move inside to try ciders or buy a wine slushy along the way. They offer cheese and crackers to buy or you can purchase oversized portions of food from a number of vendors(they change depending on the event). There are 2 outdoor sitting areas one close to the wine and cider and if you walk just a short way there is another close to the beer. That area includes music and games. We saw a wedding, a birthday party, but most of all everyone was chill and having a great time.

Not just a wine tasting room...A lovely rural setting on a working farm, charming & helpful staff, plenty of seating, amazingly delicious catered foods (each night and brunch of Sundays) and live (free) music in the evenings to enjoy a variety of premise-made wines. The vineyard can host event from 6-50 people and outside tent for up to 500 (weddings, etc.) What a treat and minutes from Colonial Park Mall! Must do! (tips: 1. Give yourself an hour or two to enjoy it with friends. 2. No outside food and drinks allowed. 3. Sign up for a wine and food pairing event.)

Went for the first time this past weekend for the Peach festival. The grounds are beautiful, scenic, and great to sit and hang out. However, in what world do you charge $7 for a wine tasting, then proceed to put a few DROPS of each wine (7-8 kinds) into a small plastic cup and call that a "tasting?" Absolutely ridiculous. Ive been to other wine tastings where Id get half a small cupful of wine to try... and it was FREE. If youre charging for a tasting, make it worth the charge. Not to mention, we lined up for about 40 min for this.
