In July of 2013 our community newspaper ran a full page ad on the State Theater and the shows available till spring of 2014. What a wonderful ad and so many great performances for the coming fall. winter and spring seasons. I was anxious to join your organization and buy tickets and have the availability to purchase front row seats. I am a senior citizen living on a fixed income and for gifts for my family I purchased tickets. We are lovers of the music arts. I saw the 50s Rock and Roll Party, and ABBA Mania. What a wonderful time we had. I had tickets for the Wizards of Winter but to my dismay I was unable to use them. Although I paid less than $75.00 for them. On the day of the performance the weather in the Philadelphia area was inclement with hazardous driving. I called the theater and also sent an E-mail once the snow storm started at noontime, to find out what provisions are made for these weather conditions. I was told, NONE. No refunds. If the performers make it, the show must go on. Sure, the performers will make it. They are probably staying in a local hotel with an escort by the police dept. or fire dept. or any other dept. that can make sure the performers will arrive. What about the patrons who have to travel 2 hours from their homes? I have to depend on someone to bring me and I was not about to ask someone to travel in hazardous weather and road conditions to take me to a show, which I feel in all honesty should have been cancelled. Put yourselves in our position. The person who was going to drive me would have been on the road till probably 10:00 PM on Sunday evening. Would you want someone in your family riding around in snow and ice? I do not think so. I, and I am sure you and your organization would not like to put someones life in jeopardy for $75.00. You request for patrons, but yet you have no provisions for them when it comes to inclement weather. I honestly feel your theater/organization should rethink the provisions for patrons once the winter comes and the weather becomes UNSAFE. I will give plenty of thought about rejoining your organization in the summer of 2014. For a non-profit organization, how much money was made by your organization by people who did not show on Sunday, December 8, 2013. It would not surprise me if people that had an hour or two drive were unable to maneuver the road conditions in order to see the Wizards of Winter.

Just took the wife and kids to see Daniel Tigers neighborhood. Giving 2 stars because the venue was neat and the show was cute. The problem was the staff and the venue policies. My 3 year old really wanted to see the show but my 8 month old could really care less (for obvious reasons). The policy of the venue was that every single person (no matter the age) needed a ticket. So I had to buy an extra $21 ticket for my 8 month old who cooed and drooled in my lap the whole time. They would not let us in with out one, and arguing with the 90+ y/o staff was futile. This seemed to be the biggest complaint from everyone there. A woman with a 3 month old had to pay for him. Ridiculous. If your going for a date night I say its probably worth it. Going for a kids show I would look around and see where else it will be playing in the area.

Great shows but poor management. I purchased original tickets online and when arriving at the show with my pregnant wife found that our seats were taken. The original ticket owners decided to have their tickets reprinted and ours were not honored. We were made to buy new tickets for the show but the experience was already sullied. They have lost us as patrons especially after we tried contacting about being recompensated and were not listened to because, "the owner of those tickets is a valued member", which means we were not.

Saw the Moscow Russian Ballet Nutcracker which was amazing. The theater is full of character but I was a bit annoyed that they were still seating people around us and the ballet had already started. Having to keep getting up and down to let people through is OK beforehand but they need to have a better process so people are in and seated before the show starts

This is a really nice, historic theater. Theyve done a great job restoring it, and they constantly have interesting performers. Theres a concession stand, and they do allow food and drinks to be brought into the theater. There are nearby parking garages and metered parking on side streets, but youll likely need to walk a short distance to get there.

They do a wonderful job of keeping music and the arts alive in the community! My husband and I really enjoyed Once here earlier in the year and we brought our toddler to the Djnosaur Live program. Love seeing the passion in all of the employees and volunteers who keep this historic venue going and keep it exciting and relevant.

FELT LIKE A SARDINE Let me start by saying the place is beautiful. My issue is with the seating. There is absolutely no room in the loge and balcony seats if you are taller than 58". I guess when they built it in the 1920s everyone was a midget.

This renovated theater is small enough to not have a bad seat, but large enough to have a true stage feel. The acoustics are great and concerts here sound awesome. If you get the chance, see a show here, you wont be disappointed!

Saw Dave Koz and Friends on 7/13/13. Fabulous venue, great acoustics, friendly staff, tons of history and at prices 20% less than same act(s) if seen in NYC or even NJ. Great show, great venue.

Lots of great entertainers and loads of entertainment for kids and adults. Pricing is moderate for most events. Parking is on street and challenging so be aware. Parking is also metered.

Clean old style theater. Comfortable seating but acoustics somewhat less than optimal. Adequate restroom facilities. Recommend getting seats toward the front.

The mall was always a great hangout. Other than the early closing times, its has great stores and layout to get lost in. Lost in a good way.

State Theatre has nicely restored Art Deco design. Weve seen a few comics there and have enjoyed the people they have brought in.
