More than 40 years ago, Thomas and Mary S. Young gave a wide plot of land in an established West Linn neighborhood to the state. Since then, the state has built three open, terraced soccer fields, a gazebo, an open, unfenced dog leash area, and miles of well-groomed riverfront trails for hikers, birders, and runners alike. I visit the park nearly ever other day on my walks and runs. The bark trails are always well-cared-for and the people using them are friendly locals from the area. The general traffic of the park is runners, walkers with dogs, and cross country teams (lately there have been many Pokemon Go players walking the trails, too) and there is always room for more. The terraced soccer fields are great for frisbee and RC plane flying. Every so often, West Linn hosts movie nights and other events on the fields. Mary S. Young Park is a perfect example of a friendly, neighborhood park.

Decent but expensive experience, granted there were free hot dogs, cider, coffee, smores, and photos at the event with a haunted section as well as a kids section available to experience at the location. The event was very kid friendly, and the photos were amazing. The biggest flaw was the event being packed, because you had to stand in a line throughout the entire haunted trail to see the monsters and go through dark corridors. Actors were too busy jumping out to the people not far ahead to pay attention to us, or the following group close behind us. A quick but fun Halloween adventure, once youre past the ticket booth.

Great park for runners and walkers. Wonderful place to exercise when its hot out due to the lovely shade the trees provide on the trail. Park is well monitored as West Linn police will patrol the parking lot. There are public bathrooms, outdoor barbeque grills. There is access to sandy beaches and a great off leash dog park. The dog park also has a wash off area to wash the dogs off when you leave. Small playground with swings on the opposite side of the soccer fields (across the soccer field). They also have a small rock structure kids can climb.

The park itself has lots of diversity and lots of things to do. There are many different trails you can go on and its quite pretty. Its easy to find a quiet place to spend some time. However, I got bit by a tick at this park while going on some smaller side trails not far from the parking lot. Thankfully my son was not bit. A tick bite can really screw you up health wise, and many people dont realize that there are ticks in the metro area. This is an excellent park, but just know there are ticks here so be careful.

One of the best in the area. Great trails lead you to the Willamette River and the kids can fish and yes there is good fishing out here. There are dog areas and the park is kept really clean. Most people that come here really appreciate the park for everything it has to offer, including the wild berries that are so delicious finds when you are hiking. All amenities including restrooms, water fountains and water access. Its a river so theres a current...

Love coming here since I was a kid. Great park for hike/walks. Huge off-leash park areas. Access to the river. Huge fields. Be aware of auto sprinklers. Picnic tables all over. Water fountains. Free parking. Park seems like its always in the middle of some sort of project. Stairs are rotted and a little wobbly and slippery on North end of park trails. Wish there was more funding for this park so it could be to full potential.

I grew up in this park. My friends and I use to bike down here year round to explore the woods and trails. There are lots of great paths to explore for all varieties of adventure. Now we take our kids to climb the faux boulder wall, watch the dogs at the dog park, and explore even more well kept trails. Weve even been here for a local artists market and movie in the park.

This is a nice state park to hike, jog, fish, and enjoy the river bank. There are erosion on some trails, but the main ones are well maintained. The hike down to the river bank slopes along a simple switchback. There are jet skis in the water that may interrupt your tranquility, but its peaceful here on most days.

Gorgeous park! Each of the many trails are all very scenic and in great condition. On those trails, youll come across some beautiful streams and waterfront access to the Willamette River. Not to mention the dog park is a nice added bonus. Overall, its a fantastic place to spend the day.

Great spot to run! Unfortunately it is all maintained by volunteer work so, when and a tree fell and knocked out a bridge, its going to be awhile before somebody has the equipment and crwe to fix it. This is a beautiful park though, great place to take the dog, I run here a lot!

Tough to rate because of diversity. Overall a fabulous place to park and walk. Seems dog friendly. Absolutely loved the plant life. Strangely few animals, but the ambience was mesmerizing. Strange waterfront experience was a bit of a drag, otherwise a 5 star destination

Great dog park, plenty of trails for a park in the suburbs, amd a waterfront you can fish from. They also facilitate poop bags and quite an abundance of garbage bins on the trails themselves for easy disposal (no walking 2 miles with dog poop in your hand)

I live Mary S. Young park. Such a great place. Fantastic trails, a dog park. They also host one of my favorite events all year. AWOL. Some amazing arielists that set up in the trees and are some amazing people. I attend every year!

Great Park for walking, running, and biking some of the hidden trails are real gems. From the wooded border to Highway 43 down to the banks of the Willamette, a great place for a quick break from the world.

I love this place for all it has to offer! Family friendly event areas, river access spots, off-leash dog areas, trails, privacy (at times). It can get busy with people, but definitely a treasure park...

We love taking our puppy to the dog park here! We do wish part was fenced but its large enough for her to run and play. The trails are beautiful and it was fun to visit during Halloween festivities.

Great park to wander and decompress. Watch out for rude people who dont have their dog leashed. When you dont have the time to travel to the Gorge this place could have your bailout hike.

I run trails and go here once a week to run. The loop is about 1.5 miles or more like 2 if you run down to the river. There is also a large dog area and fields for soccer, etc.

This is a very pretty park with hiking and water features. It is very big and has some great open areas. There is not a lot of traffic through here and it very quiet.

Not ideal for soccer. Tips: fields are stacked above each other so field closest to parking is 1 then 2 in middle and 3 above. Taking equipment to field 3 is a bear.

Great short hikes or running spot. Good off leash dog areas including spots on the river for your 4 legged friends to play. About 4 miles of trails to explore.
