I went back to WOSC for the first time in a while last night and, apparently, the owners have changed for the worse. Initially, I was impressed, because I recently became vegan after 5 years being vegetarian and every single menu item has a vegan substitution option. I ordered a jackfruit BBQ sandwich and confirmed with the bartender who took the order that the "perfect sauce" that comes with was also vegan. My friend made a joke about ordering mayo, and the bartender also mentioned that they dont have any real mayo options at all. Cool! Not. The sandwich took forever to come out after my friends had been finishing their food and when it did I didnt think twice that they couldve messed up based on the conversation I had so I took a bite and it was REAL PORK. I took it back and was given 2 drink tickets. I thought this was kind of lame, but a nice enough gesture at the moment since I didnt want to make a fuss (even though they seriously crossed a moral boundary of mine). I was given another number and told the corrected sandwich was on the way. About 30 min went by...it never came. Took back my number and was told by the kitchen that they had already brought it out to me. I told them I didnt want it anymore and to just close my tab. Even though I had the 2 free drink tickets from the initial mistake, I was still charged for the 2 drinks on my tab because they werent covered by the "beer or well drink only" qualifier on the tickets...as if I am ever going back there. The kitchen staff was rude and far from being vegan "aware"(so to speak), even though their menu suggests otherwise. Oh, and while I was waiting for my friends to finish their drinks (so I could GTFO) I went to get a glass of water from the water station and the cooler was empty. I do not recommend spending your time or money here.

I had never been to White Owl and some friends wanted to go for their birthday. I was standing in line with my friends and one of my friends stepped out of line to smoke and stood next to the security guard. Finished his cigarette and came back in line. It was loud and a friend who was meeting us, called me. I stepped out of line about 5 feet to look around the corner to see where the entrance was and walked back to my friends in line. I finished my conversation and a security guard came and told me I had to go to the back of the line. I was super confused. He told me I wasnt allowed to leave the line. I apologized and told him I had never been here and didnt know that was a rule. He proceeded to talk to my friends and I, as well as the people behind us whom we didnt know, in a degrading manner. We didnt know why he needed to talk to us like we were stupid. He continued to say that was the rule, but I was completely unaware. Theres no signs stating this, theres no information posted anywhere stating this. How was I supposed to know I couldnt take a phone call 5 feet from the line? I understand they are watching out for people "cutting" line, but theres no signage or any information given about this rule at all. I feel like he was rude and despite our respectful questioning, he was rude. Look, I understand where he was coming from, but that was definitely ridiculous and I can honestly say I wont be returning.

I live six hours away and wanted to surprise my daughter on her 21st birthday. Not knowing the laws/rules in Portland I called the White Owl Social Club, to see if she would be able to be served at midnight. I told him the situation, he assured me she would be welcomed in. I told him I was calling because I didnt want to drive six hours if she wouldnt be allowed through the door. He said assured me yet again, she could definitely go. So, I drove 6 hours, mage myself stay awake until midnight, and her boyfriend had to talk her until going. Like I said, it was a surprise. Im in the Uber, almost there, and I get a call, "They wont let her in"! This is inexcusable. I get there are rules. Thats why I called 3 days before her birthday. They may all need an OLCC refresher course. They encouraged me to drive 6 hours, only to humiliate my daughter on her birthday. You just lost a lot of business. You should have to reimburse my fuel and hotel bill. It cost me a lot of money to be here to watch you embarrass my daughter. She was made to feel like a criminal, or a sneaky child, when she, according to your knowledgeable staff, was old enough to be there. Thanks for nothing!

This place was awesome!! My friends and I came on Friday night, probably showed up around 11. The wait wasnt too long, and the security staff was doing a great job. Anyone who seeemed shady or was trying to start trouble was dealt with swiftly and without much of a scene. The bar staff was really nice, good drinks. The DJ was INCREDIBLE! I usually like old music (like disco/pop from the 70s/80s) and much to my surprise the DJ was mixing it in with some more current music. It was a great set, a great mix, very fun to dance! The outside fire pit and seating area was wonderful, as it was a hot night. And it was super easy to go in and out, it has a very open lay out so if you get claustrophobic like I do it was easy to move around and have some space. I really dont go out much, like ever. Im a real homebody, but I do get a hankering now and then. If youre kinda like that, you may like this place. Ill definitely be coming back, it was a great time!

Please welcome White Owl Social Club to the inner southeast industrial district. In the spot once occupied by Plan B we have an unassuming entrance opening to a world of delight. Ample indoor booth seating is no competition for the massive patio out back which must have served as parking space for many delivery trucks of some sort in some bygone era. The main bar serves quality food and drink and the patio bar has a small selection of specials and favorites. A fire pit and enough seating for a wedding should make this location quite the neighborhood anchor. Portlanders could not ask for a better destination this close to downtown other than Dig A Pony. It is difficult to judge the crowd at a location like this because it is so easy to become your own crowd in any seating or standing arrangement. This is not a desolate type of space, though. It is the space which represents possibilities. White Owl is a gratuitous grace.

This is the worst club I have ever been to. While at the club, I was standing at the bar to order a drink, when I noticed commotion behind me. I turned around to see what was going on, and saw two males about to fight. I then got punched in the head by a third male. I was knocked out, and since then have had severe dizziness, confusion and loss of balance. I have a concussion as a result of this. Initially, I thought I was just caught in the middle of a bar fight, and thought nothing of it. I have since learned that these three men were going around punching random people for no reason. The bouncers, staff, and managers have done NOTHING to locate these men, and have not contacted me to follow up or ask me identify them in surveillance videos or anything. I have contacted them multiple times, with no response. This is an unsafe club, and the staff has no consideration or interest in the wellbeing of their guests.
