Got to try some take out from here for lunch today, and it was all very, very good. The Chicken Souvlaki ($6.25 with a side of Fries) was excellent. The chicken is tender & moist, no dryness here, the pita was nice, and the whole wrap came together with tomato, lettuce, and the Tzatziki Sauce, which is outstanding. The FFs were super, as well. The Spanakopita appetizer ($5.25) was very well done, flaky and full of flavor. The size is enormous, plenty for sharing. The Horiatiki Salad with Chicken ($10.25) is large, with a huge block of feta cheese to be crumbled on it. Unfortunately the chicken was really dry, and really detracted from the salad. The Gyro Plate ($11.25 with rice & lemon potatoes) is pricey, but absolutely excellent. The meat is apparently prepared in the authentic manner, cut into thin strips, and is plentiful, tender, void of dryness, and loaded with flavor - as good as in the Triad area. Both the Lemon Potatoes (mild lemon flavor) and the Rice were excellent, as well. The combination of these 3 items makes this a killer plate, and the portions are huge. This restaurant is more upscale than its tiny competitor further down Stratford, has waiter service, and is definitely more expensive - but for the most part, this is some fine, authentic Greek food.

My most recent trip to Athenas was for my mothers birthday which was her first visit. Ive been approximately 5 times. Each time the food is better than the last. Athenas never disappoints. The food is always impeccably seasoned, hot, fresh and simply amazingly good. I cant imagine a better Greek restaurant in the tri-state area. Im a fan of the Moussaka and Lemon potatoes. The Gyros are the best Ive had as well. The crepes couldve been cooked a little longer this time, but I dont blame the kitchen or the waitress (who was amazing), the health inspector was there and I think the kitchen was put on hold for a bit. I would say its the most authentic Greek food around, but Ive never been to Greece. Authentic or an american blend, the food is well worth the money and time. The alcohol menu offers Greek alcohol that you probably wont anywhere else bar Total Wine or a Greek grocery store. If you go, which you should, try anything on the menu. You cant go wrong.

In town for one night. Checked reviews on google prior to visiting. Nice atmosphere, with live music on tuesdays. i was there at like 5, so they werent playing yet. Ordered Gyro Pita with fries, greek beer, and a side greek salad because I was worried I would still be hungry. After almost finishing the salad, the gyro and fries came. The gyro was huge, and smelled great. It was delicious, and I could only finish half of it. I ate the rest of it later that night in the hotel. The best Greek I have had in a long time. I ate at the grecian last time I was in town, and Athenas makes the grecian look like some dive diner. Will definitely visit this place next time I am in town. I grew up near tarpon springs, fl which is known for its greek food, and this was every bit as good. Lastly, the low prices and the amount of food on each plate is awesome.

Rumor has it, the Greeks own every restaurant in town. Athena is an authentic Greek restaurant. The have great lunch specials and dinner is big enough to split a plate with your spouse or child. I love the house made sausage "LOUKANIKO" The spicy feta dip "TIROKAFTERI" is to die for and the lemony grilled chicken KOTA SKARAS is delicious! The SOUVLAKI is great for lunch. big delicious greenbeans with tomatoes are served with many entrees and of course try the lemon potatoes! Ocasionally they have live Greek music and when my kids are there... dancing as well! Ive never had a bad meal there.

Atmosphere was nice, with live music. Only a couple other tables and still took forever for us to even get drinks, much less place our order. I ordered the house rose and it came with something floating in the bottom. I pointed it out to the waitress and she claimed it was part of the cork. Never seen that at any other restaurant with my wine so needless to say I did not drink it. Gyro was okay, Olive Tree is 10x better/more friendly!

To "S.H." 2 reviews below, whoever that is, I can only guess at your weight because the portion me and my girlfriend were served was enough to feed 5 people. The food is great, and on tuesdays they have a live band. Very friendly staff. Would recommend to anyone except the supersized "S.H." Further, I would like to add that "S.H." owes me 10.97 now because I ordered 1 more gyro plate than i needed based on his review.

My family has been eating here since this restaurant opened. Their food is delicious. The building and restrooms are always very clean. The staff is friendly. Theyre never crowded when I come in for lunch. Dinner is a different story. They bring in a good dinner crowd, which is well deserved since the food and atmosphere are fantastic. I highly recommend this place.

We had lunch at Anamias yesterday. The restaurant was clean and had a great air conditioner! Service was efficient but not particularly cordial. My wife had Nachos and I had Quesadillas, both with chicken. They were good but fairly, typical, TexMex. Hardly anything wed "write home about." We each had soft drinks. We both thought this was a relatively pricy,...

Love the food! Real authentic Greek and soo good, Cristo is an amazing cook! Always have enough To take home for lunch the next day. To Chris Wilson a few reviews down falafel is a middle eastern food (Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Palestine) not mediterranean, so Im not really sure why youd expect it at a strictly Greek restaurant.

Outstanding!! We went for lunch today (drove from Greensboro) and ordered the Saganaki and Gyros. They were both delicious! If you havent tried the Saganaki it is a must have. Also our waiter was attentive, polite and answered all of our questions. Thank you for a great meal and great service.

Stopped by for lunch. Server and manager/owner (Im guessing) were both extraordinarily pleasant and helpful. Ordered from the specials board, as the entree sounded amazing. It WAS amazing, obviously authentic, clearly fresh and carefully prepared. I would go out of my way to eat here again.
