This is a beautiful golf club by local standards, but its poorly managed and that often leads to annoying play. We had two tee times this week. The first one was 7:50am. When we arrived, they were already running 10 minutes behind. This surprised us because their first tee time is 7:00am. How did they wind up running late so early? We returned two days later, this time for the 7:00am tee time (first of the day). We were at the tee box at 7:00am; starter had not arrived yet. A single drives up and tells us that the clubhouse told him to go off ahead of us. We let the single go. The result, we teeed off five minutes later. Yes, their first tee box was behind within five minutes of the day starting. Now I understand why. Then they let a series of twosomes out behind us. Twosomes are significantly faster than a foursome so we had to let two of them play through us. Then their ranger came up to us on the 7th hole and asked that we close a half-hole gap that had opened ahead of us. I checked the time. We were playing at four hour pace, which is below their expectation for this course. They also require carts but have several holes where carts are not allowed on the fairways. Hence, you wind up inconveniently situated relative to your ball and your clubs. This course is more interesting than the Pointe, which is close by, but the Pointe is better run. We typically enjoy our golf there better.

I live down West side ln and there is a water access that I use just to swim because its close and i can ride my bike back there, Ive never had a complaint until today. I I was on my way to the sound and a man stopped me and said "You dont like back here do you?" I replied no, I didnt think it was a big deal. He proceded to threaten to call the cops on me if I where to continue to go the sound or go any farther down the road because I didnt have a pass or owned a house. I didnt realize me swimming in the water was such a big deal, I never caused destruction and I was never rude to anyone, but I guess because you have more money than I do I dont deserve to swim in that area.

I played Kilmarlic earlier this week in brutal wind conditions. The course beat me up, but I look forward to playing it again next year. This is a challenging layout. I did wish the scorecards were more realistic representations of the layout. It seemed the pictures were not to the proper scale making it difficult to know where safe landing areas were. I also played Currituck Club this week. It was well maintained, but much more open than Kilmarlic, so not quite the challenge. Of the two, Kilmarlic was the more interesting and better value of the two.

Excellent golf course. Youd be hard pressed to find a more beautiful course short of the PGA Tour. Very challenging as well. The staff at Kilmarlic is second to none. Very courteous and helpful. Bring an extra sleeve (or two) of balls, as there are unique hazards on every hole. If you are a high handicap, such as myself, you may want to move up a tee as well. If you are vacationing in or around the OBX area, I highly recommend playing Kilmarlic.

We play this course twice every year during our annual OBX vacation. This is the best layout in OBX with several memorable holes. We always take advantage of the 2 day pass. The staff is very nice and welcoming, the course has always been in pretty good shape and you can take on as much or as little challenge as you like with multiple tee box options.

The staff is awesome! The course can be challenging, but it is fun to play! The driving range and putting area are superior. The club house is very nice and clean. Suggest sitting on the porch with a beverage and watch others finish up on 18 after your round. It can be comical with the water on the left. A must play if your in OBX!

Nice course, reasonable fees, and great service! I lost my wallet while golfing and when it was recovered 2 days later they looked me up, found where I worked, and called my office all in am effort to return my wallet to me. This was a huge relief as I had a flight scheduled the next week. Very good people!!

Well manacured with a great looking practice facility. The clubhouse is nice. We teed off at 3:10, saw the cart girl on the 1st green and that was the last time we saw her. Had to cool off and stock up at the turn.

Gorgeous golf course. Tough. When I played it I really struggled, but I wasnt playing a lot of golf back then. Looking forward to playing it this summer, now that I have improved my game.
