The Peter Max show is as promised a look into the past of psychedelics, The Beatles and the sixties. Yet I did not see any real growth in him as an artist, his canvas seems to be reproductions of past work with heavy impasto brushwork. Derivative, repetitive and commercialized. I regarded his impertinence as an artist, when a fan asked him to sign his Peter Max books (which at some time this person PAID for those books) instead he looked at him with disdain and said "What are we doing about signatures?" The fan was told he could make a "donation" of 50.00 per signature which was awarded to some charity. I found this reprehensible. A donation is done freely with no strings attached or given with a forewarning. Instead someone that may or may not have afforded one of Mr. Maxs work was publicly embarrassed and Mr. Max and the gallery came across as greedy and disrespectful to all who enter. You never know WHO they are. The stunned man quickly left. Ironically, I was looking at the art for a client (as I am an interior designer) and I quickly followed suit. Attendance at this show early on was sparse and would have cost Mr. Max nothing.Instead he cost this man his dignity and I found the incident repugnant. It closed the door for me of someones work I had enjoyed now forever tainted.

I have been taking classes and attending events at Charlotte Fine Arts Gallery for about a year and a half and have had an exceptionally high quality experience in the classes and at each event!! The teachers and the owner, Joni are very professional and strive to create a dynamic and interesting learning experience for those of us involved in the life of the gallery. I give this gallery five stars. Carol Brick

The Charlotte Fine Art Gallery is one of the most exciting galleries in Charlotte. It offers an eclectic selection of art - from paintings to sculpture to jewelry and cards. The shows range from abstract to representational, and feature artists from all over the country, as well as from the local area. Whenever I visit, I find art that delights and intrigues me.
