THE WAY WE WERE. My first ever movie was at The LandMark. My first ever concert was at The LandMark. We lived in an apartment on the south side. It was a flat on Landon Street. My father worked at Crowely and my mother was a cashier. Our apartment was furnished with what those paychecks could afford. One day, while downtown, our mother took us into The LandMark to see a movie, 007 Live and Let die. You have to understand, we never saw this side of life. What surrounded us were transit buses and concrete, and for us to be able to walk into the and see those gorgeous wall murals and the opulent staircases, well it just gave us a feeling that there was something more to life .It was an inspiring moment for me. When buildings back then were built, there was a sense of pride in the craftsmanships work. Take a look around you when your out and about today. Compare buildings like this one to whats been built recently. Is there anything to inspire ? It is my hopes that we imbue the majestic magnitudes of these mighty architectural masterpieces of the past, so that we can help build dreams for those of tomorrow.

The seat I had this evening was in the first row of the orchestra (101) on the aisle. Great view, but the seat needs to be fixed! After sitting in it for less than 10 minutes, my back was killing me and my sciatica was so bad I had to keep moving back and forth during the performance in pain. The seat slants forward and is lower than the one I have for my season tickets. Several people around me each time I attend performances have problems with their seats being very uncomfortable. So much has gone into the restoration of the theater, now lets do something about the seating in the theater! People back when it was built had smaller statures (my mom was 52 and my dad 54"). My brother and I both tower over them. There is little or no leg room when one sits down (except in the front row). The theater may lose some capacity, but the patrons will attend more shows if the seating is improved.

I have been to this venue numerous times, and came again tonight after a number of other unpleasant experiences with the staff. Tonights was a sold-out show, and there was plenty of staff, but they did almost nothing in the way of crowd control, and it was like a free for all. Im amazed no one got hurt. Worse yet, during the second act, they were creating a scene in the middle of the performance, distracting many patrons, yelling at people in the audience, and (yes) even distracting the star of the show, Josh Groban--a world-renowned and experienced performer. And if this was the first time I had been to a concert at Landmark and endured such an experience, I would not be leaving this review now. Its a shame that such a beautiful venue, and such a great show, should be ruined by incompetent, nasty, rude staff. Time for a change of management before I ever come back.

We brought 100 Middle and High school students here to see Wicked! The staff was at great at times and at other times fairly intolerant of the group and not very sensitive the challenges that come with managing a group/trip of this nature. The show was amazing and so was the building. The seats are VERY narrow. We were in the balcony and we had a student that was afraid of the height and could not sit in the seat she purchased. The WONDERFUL USHERS helped us get seated AND accommodated this student and a chaperone with two seats in the orchestra on the ground level! Bravo! One of our bigger chaperones was also able to sit in a different seat to help make them a little more comfortable. Overall a great experience!

A very ornate theater. We just attended a wedding here and it made for a beautiful venue. Bars upstairs and down. Plenty of seating. Ceremony was held on stage. This place still needs some fixing in the way of renovations. Some spots where paint falling off ceiling; the toilets are also outdated. The staff told me they have expanded the stage and wardrobes so bigger, more popular plays are starting to come here. They also host lighting of the Christmas tree, and they show movies too.

Ive only been there once and my only complaint is that I didnt see any snacks. Probably not the kind of place to have snacks but I was there for 3 hours ago snacks wouldve been nice. The temperature was comfortable also. Usually big rooms with that many people get warm and stuffy but they had the air on thankfully. The picture was from about 1/3 of the way back from the stage so there were more people behind me than in front of.

A beautiful theater comprised of amazing architecture and outstanding acts and also a great place to host a private party or event, a welcoming staff and environment whom greet with a smile and a welcoming attitude, truly a gem from our past continuing to dedicate the doors to the publics access to the arts, private and public , an amazing shred of history forever sewn to the quilt of creation, joy and life

The show was great but seating is meant for 6 year-olds. Ive never even been on a plane this tightly packed. Cant move at all, others movements rock you. I cant imagine what made them pack it with tiny seats that normal-sized people need grease and shoehorns for. Too bad. Beautiful to look at but I wont go back.

Terrible customer service. Lost tickets and although ticketmaster policies allows reprinted tickets to be reprinted at the box office the woman behind the counter refused to click the "reprint" button. Wasted money going to the Landmark. And its such a beautiful theater, ruined by poor customer service.

Absolutely gorgeous, a splendid venue for a special night out. The only issue was the womens restroom had a line around the balcony, and they gave no warning when intermission was going to end; my wife had to rush back and missed the first couple of minutes. At least flash some lights or something!

Beautiful old Theater.... Went to see Wicked, top notch performance. Sat in balcony, way too hot and stiffling atmosphere. Seats crammed in very tight, no leg room. Intermission was horrible. Bad management of refreshment stands had HUGE lines, ran out of water and electronic payments died.

The Landmark is a gorgeous baroque-era movie house that hosts traveling Broadway productions, local stage plays, live concerts, and private events. One of the most beautiful interiors in upstate NY, you must see it if you have the opportunity!

This is a beautiful old-fashioned theater! The ornate carvings in the woodwork and the high ceilings create a truly majestic feeling inside. Dont be fooled by the run-down street outside. This theater is well worth a visit.

The seats are small but they are the original. The whole theatre is beautiful with its designs and details. The ceiling in the theatre itself is amazing. The only downfall is the comfort of the seats.

Opulent venue for a reception. Bravo to all the renovators. An absolute gem in the historic movie palaces of Thomas Lamb. Not too many of them left. See one when you can.
