The hostesses were very rude but the maitre d was very nice. We dealt with two hostesses. One when we first walked in, she made us aware that they were not ready to seat yet and she was VERY rude. The second took us to our table and she was even worse than the first. Honestly, I was ready to walk out but our two servers greeted us so quickly; changed the mood, so I forgot about the other two. Our two waitresses were the absolute best. These two girls should win an award. Id go back to Insignia solely based on the two of them. Jessica S. and Cristin F. are the two you should request when you go! Aesthetically, the atmosphere was fantastic. Beautiful restaurant and it was very clean. However, it was very loud. It was a Saturday night and the bar was packed, so Im assuming this restaurant is a weekend hangout, so the noise wasnt the end of the world. As for the food, my crab cake was was nothing special at all. Nothing compared to View in Oakdale. I didnt taste crab at all. The sides with our meal were mediocre at best. My rib eye was alright I guess. It wasnt very flavorful, it was very salty. The filet mignon my fiance had was good; according to her. I tasted it and it was alright. It was definitely tender but the flavor was nothing to write home about. The shrimp I had with my rib eye were uninteresting, or so I assumed. On our way home, my stomach was killing me. I was nearly at the point of pulling into a gas station to use the restroom. I had just started taking insulin so I had assumed it had something to do with that. Anyhow, when we got home, I put my leftover rib eye and shrimp in the refrigerator. The following morning, when I opened my refrigerator, it stunk like rotten fish. When I took out the shrimp and took a whiff, I nearly passed out. I cant say for sure, but Im assuming it wasnt my insulin that caused my stomach to hurt. As for the pricing, nothing to really complain about here. When my fiance and I eat at the View in Oakdale, I spend about $150 or so for two. At Insignia, I spent about $215, so its no big deal. To use another steakhouse as a comparative, RW Prime Restaurant at Resorts is about $175 for two, so its all subjective. I have no complaints about the price. If you want a fantastic steak, RW Prime Restaurant is the place-to-go. I actually liked that better than Peter Luger Steakhouse and its in a makeshift casino. Id go back to Insignia and give it another shot but Id likely steer clear of the shrimp. Im sure it was a one-time thing, but I still wouldnt take a chance on my second visit. I hope to have a 5-star experience next time so I can update my review and in my opinion, this place should be a 5-star. They had just had a big party prior to opening on the night we went, so Im hoping that they were just overwhelmed, which is why everything was subpar.

As an experienced foodie, I was disgusted by the greed I witnessed on Valentines weekend by the owners of Insignia. It was Sunday, 2/17 at 7:30 when we arrived for our reserved table, which we were sat at 8:50pm. After 20 min of no service and watching much of the same around us, a server approached the table to tell us we should probably put our order in, since the kitchen will be closing soon. We advised her that it would help if we had MENUS. She abruptly delivered them, took our drink order and we promptly ordered the "special" for $99. Personally, I will never return to this restaurant due to the fact that we were treated horrendous, and there was no sign of a manager of any kind on the floor who was running this place. There were many new people being trained which were clueless and walking around lost with dishes of food in their hands. Mainly because they added so many tables for two (cocktail hour size no less!) that they had no idea where they were bringing the food. They were actually carrying hand size maps of the room we were in to find tables! I have never seen such a huge act of greed in my life. There were many unhappy people in the restaurant that evening and I guess no one will ever know but the servers and kitchen staff who suffered for the greed of their boss. There were no managers on the floor at all because I made a conscious effort to find one. Shame on you Anthony Scotto! You are better than this and your greed got the best of you. What a shame your G.M. didnt have the guts to tell you this was a bad idea and it would crush your kitchen and compromise the service to your high paying and loyal customers. Sorry my friend....Next steak will not be had at Insignia, theres many others and the experience has always been better then this. Your spectacular decor cant make up for this ridiculous display of disorganized chaos everywhere we turned. P.S. Your staff even lost respect for you after this move.....they were complaining all over the place, which made the experience even more forgettable. Greed....What a shame..

Went to Insignia Steakhouse - Nesconset Hgwy on Sunday afternoon, Memorial Day. Called ahead at about 2:15 pm and made reservation for 4:00 pm. Took a ride there early figuring wife and I would have some cocktails at the bar. Beautiful place everywhere you look. Was not busy and told reception we were early (3:00 pm) and we would be at the bar. They said the bar was closed until 4:00 pm. Nobody knew what to say at that moment to ease my pain of this unexpected answer of what I should do for the next hour, but alas, a manager dressed to the nines said that we could sit at the bar after all. I guess he sensed the awkwardness of the situation and saw that it was solved immediately. Ordered a bottle of 2009 Spanish Cabernet, $60 and had a great time with that for an hour. Huge TV screens around the bar, huge bar like 50 feet deep and 10 feet wide. Sat outside in a very nice table and had the Sunday only price fix meal. 16 oz filet mignon (sliced) and a 2 lb lobster for two (they cut out the meat which was a bonus), salads, mashed potatoes, coffee and dessert. Could not have had a better deal than this at $99. Add the $60 bottle, the 3 Bay Breezes and the double espresso and Pelligrino and we left with $220 bill plus tip. Food quality was a ten on a one to ten. Will go back again soon. Regrets - none except answering question about what water we wanted and receiving Pelligrino at $9 and then did not even drink it. Did not think it was going to be billed, thought it was a condiment. No bread or butter served (maybe because of the price fix meal). Great atmosphere, nice place, upscale.

My wife and I dined here on our Anniversary on June 18 and were looking forward to a wonderful meal. Entering the restaurant, it seemed nice, not elegant, but nice. We were a little early for our reservation, so we sat down comfortably in the bar area. After a short wait, we were escorted to our table and met by one of our two waiters, who were both very polite and very attentive. Besides the service, here is where everything became not so great. My wife and I each started with a Caesar Salad and Wedge Salad respectively. The wedge Salad lacked dressing, and the Caesar Salads dressing lacked in flavor. We then had dinner. I had the 30 ounce Bone-in Ribeye, and my wife has the Surf and Turf special. My Ribeye was closer to 22 ounces...not even close to 30 Ounces! The Surf and Turf was ok, but the Filet was over cooked after asking for medium rare. We had 2 sides, Grilled Asparagus, which there was nothing grilled about it. It was boiled and bland..and I mean bland! No salt, pepper or seasoning. The mushrooms were just as bland and had zero taste to it. Now a lot of people may have complained to someone about the under-sized steak, over-cooked filet, bland sides and underwhelming salads, but I didnt. I feel the biggest statement a customer can make is not to return, which I never will. Oh, the cost for 2 Salads, 2 entrees, 2 sides, and 2 espressos plus tip? $315!!! Mind you no desserts and no alcoholic drinks! I will stick to Capital Grill, thank you, and tell my friends and co-workers to avoid Insignia Steakhouse! What a disappointment!
