We had some friends in town for my Sons June 24th graduation. On Friday the 25th we were showing some out of town guests around Schenectady on the way to the airport for a 4:50 flight. At 1:50 we decided to stop at the Van Dyck for lunch. We waited 15 minutes to be seated in what was a nearly empty restaurant, that should have been our first clue. We placed our order, drinks, appetizers and meal all at once because we were seated with menus for about 25 minutes before our waitress found us. From that point on we enjoyed several drinks and finally our appetizer but never got our lunch as we had to leave at 4:00 to get our guests to the airport on time. A total of 2 hours and 10 minutes in the restaurant and they had to package our lunch. I never tried my meal but my Son said his cheeseburger was burnt to a crisp. Another family at a table near us was so upset and the gentleman was making quite a scene as if to make the atmosphere that much worse.

We had an excellent experience at the Van Dyck Restaurant & Lounge for our wedding rehearsal dinner! Mike was excellent to work with. Putting together the dinner was very easy and stress free! They had several food and dinner packages to choose from. They have private rooms of varying sizes, so they were able to accommodate exactly the size rehearsal dinner we were envisioning. The food is served buffet style. It was excellent! The selection of wine and beers was great! The restaurant has a micro-brewery in it, so they include all craft beers on tap at the bar restaurant in the drink package. Both the food and drinks received rave reviews from our guests! We highly recommend the Van Dyck!

I came to the Van Dyck with friends for New Years Eve and was absolutely delighted at the special menu they provided for the night! Each special item menu came with a beer sample, which was really cool. I ended up ordering the Mad Jack Mac (Mac n cheese with broccoli) and it was AMAZING. One of my friends ordered the baked haddock, which also looked really good so I had to steal a bite! Our waitress was friendly (as they always are when we go here), and it was just a nice atmosphere to be in before going out to celebrate. Well be back again, as always!

This place had reasonable food and good service...and pretty good atmosphere, very cozy decor and nice old historic building -- lots of character. I see why people would like it here - I think it would be fun on a weekend night maybe with a band playing. It was very quiet on the weeknight when we stopped in for a bite while there from out of town. Honestly my food was just ok, but I would give it another chance if I lived there or if i am in town again -- just to see what the norm is for their food. The place has great potential and is worth a try.

We didnt make it upstairs to the theatre, but the ENTIRE 200-year-old building has been redone and it looks absolutely gorgeous! They have outdoor patio seating, though we sat inside. Their menu is a tad plain for the setting, I think, but we each had yummy homemade pizza and I had some cocktails. They have a great cocktail and beer menu and the fare is mostly sandwiches, pizzas, and meat-and-potatoes type stuff. We had some great pigs-in-blankets!

I have seen some great Blues and Folk singers there. Its the best place for food drink and music. And what a place it is! A upscale restaurant down stairs and a bar and tables around a small stage upstairs. I saw Dave Van Ronk there, sat at the bar with him before he went on. What a great performance it was!

We just had the baby shower for my daughters first baby at The Van dyck and it was spectacular! Mike, Billy and the whole wait staff was excellent. I will definitely plan more events there, they were so good and so easy to work with! Thanks for that!

Had lunch there with my Mom and sister last Saturday. The service was great (although I think they could have used one more server). The food was terrific! I just love what theyve done to the dining area. Its gorgeous!

A nice place for some craft brew. They serve their own Mad Jack line. Also serve basic (not craft) beer as well. They are a resturant bar with a full menu. (Much more than bar food). Wednesday is half off apps.

The VanDyck in Schenectady has been completely renovated and reopened by the owners of the Stockade Inn and Pinhead Susans. The restorations are astounding, and excellent acts have been booked for the jazz room.

Excellent brewpub! Lots of varied styles. If you didnt like this place a few years ago, come back and try it again! The food was also very good. The wait staff is very knowledgeable and friendly.

The food was delicious. I enjoyed the entertainment. Accessability is non-existant. No elevator for second floor. No ramp for front steps. Not even a decent handrail.

The food was good, but it would have been better if it didnt take 2 hours (literally) to get our appetizers. Service left something to be desired. I expected better.

Very interesting menu, food has been consistently good each time and the brews are always different based on season. Nice musical acts add to the great atmosphere.

Was here for a wedding recently and they did a great job. Food was excellent, and the beer on tap is all theirs and is amazing. All brewed on site.

Good food and beer selection but offers no cozy seating. I feel uncomfortable because I feel everybodys watching me wherever we are seated.

Cant decide if its an outstanding neighborhood bar or a pretty good regional place. Come for the beer, stay for the fun and food.
