Certainly not my favorite venue, but I suppose I can understand the iconic status that this place holds. Book the right artist, and Ill definitely be willing to make a return visit. As a resident of NYC, via the outer borough of Queens, I suppose Ive been putting off my obligation to visit this venue for far too long. After being a denizen of the greater NYC area for the better part of 6 years, I finally rectified my failure to visit this place. Getting in was a nightmare. Yellow Claw was headlining the night I attended, so my group got in line with the rest of the ratchets (who were all very friendly while we were all in queue). The halal cart wasnt very much appreciated being so close a vicinity to the line... not only was food of any kind a tantalizing prospect at that moment in time... but we all know that the smell of charred BBQ-ed meats is a scent that does a very good job of latching onto ones apparel and hair (which does not make for a very good dance floor scent). Having to endure a number of minutes (20-30) in the midst of wafting meaty smoke was not ideal. Finally, the line started to move and myself + crew were finally able to hit up the showroom floor. The place was packed, and the crowd was hyped... so the environment and the vibe already evidenced the makings of a good night. I will say that the venue was a lot smaller than I anticipated, and with everyone wanting to get as close to the front as humanly possible, this easily resulted in a sardine can effect, to which one could expect a number of small skirmishes to commence as substance induced tempers flared up. It was with this in mind that my group and I were content to hang to the side and let the ratchets pick each other to pieces (although even the sides had their own fair share of elbows and rudeness occurring... but I suppose thats always to be expected, unfortunately). The artists that were booked, however, played great sets; the dark classic aesthetics of the showroom added a lot of character to the place, which I happened to appreciate... it was almost jarring. The light show and LED screen did a good enough job of adding enough visual substance to the show (albeit, nothing mind-blowing). The sound was well balanced... as I didnt notice too much bass (it was a trap happy night, so lots of that weird clang-y noise that we all know and love). Certainly not my favorite venue, but I suppose I can understand the iconic status that this place holds. Book the right artist, and Ill definitely be willing to make a return visit.

Overpriced and underwhelming! This was my first time heading out to a major club in NYC, so I cant really compare it to much, BUT I do know overpriced quality when I see it. My boyfriend and I were able to save money on the entrance fee by registering on the VIP list online before midnight (we paid $5 each). At first, I was excited that we only spent $5 to get in, but then the prices started racking up. We went to check our coats and they charged us $6 for every single thing we wanted to check (I was wearing a winter coat and a cardigan and they wouldnt let me combine the two items together on a hanger). There went $24! Then we went to get a drink at the bar. A vodka and redbull ended up being $13 for a plastic cup half the size of regular cups. At the bar downstairs, they had a board that read "$5 for PBR" and the bartender ended up charging us $8. After we pointed out the sign, she told us that that was no longer a special (even though there were no start or end times to the special listed) and gave us a hard time about it, but then reduced it to the original $5 price. The only redeeming factor was the Circus event, which was a neat show to see but took an hour for it to eventually start. The bouncers told us the show didnt start until 12, which is fine because there was plenty to do. Everyone waited and then started lining up around midnight to head upstairs. The managers then proceeded to yell at everyone and told us to go away, even though they had told us a specific time. Then, reluctantly they let us upstairs. The show ended up starting an hour later. The show itself was great, but the music was WAY too loud and ended up damaging my ears enough that I have had ringing in them for three days after the show (and counting). So unless you want permanent damage to your ears, to spend ridiculous amounts of money on rip-off drinks and coat checking, then this is your spot! Never want to go back again.

I wish I could rate this 0, but unfortunately I can not. What I experienced last night at Webster Hall is something that I never want myself nor anyone else to ever have to experience. I witnessed an almost sold out show of people screaming & crying because they were afraid they were going to be tased and beat up by security for no reason like they were to Skate Maloley & his crew. I saw with my own eyes security guards punching, choking, kicking, tasing, and throwing people down to the ground for no reason yesterday night. Fans and the performers left that venue with cuts, bruises, and hospital visits, some even passing out or potentially being in a coma. Security is supposed to keep the performers, fans, and everyone in the venue safe. This was definitely not a safe environment for ANYONE to be in. After my first, AND LAST time here, I will never EVER be coming back to this venue regardless of who the performer is. Basically, security here sucks & the security needs to be replaced. Even if the performers did do something wrong, it gives no right to throw punches, kick people, etc. The performer and fans did not physically fight back at first until the security got physical with the uncalled for attacks. They only fought back to try to help each other and try to keep the performers safe while they were being beat up right in front of their eyes. What I am trying to say is, if you go to this venue you are risking your life. I have heard so many bad reviews otherwise on this place about them not telling girls when a guy puts drugs in their drink and many more reasons on different reviews that I will not get into because I want to stay on this topic. DO NOT GO TO WEBSTER HALL. Horrible venue with horrible people & workers!

I love Webster Hall because of its atmosphere. Its all about the party and the dancing. Thats really all I want when I go to a club. I barely drink here because the drinks are overpriced, I think the cheapest ive paid for a drink here is a $6 wiskey shot . Do not come in after 12 because the entrance fee goes up by the hour. On Thursdays ladies free over 21. However, Circus Saturday is my favorite venue because of the house music and people. Paying online gets you a discount. Paying at the door before 12 is $25 minimum. There are a lot of people here so if you dont like crowdes then this is not for you. The sound system is by far the best and theres 4 floors with different music and people. The 1st floor is usually Djd with mainstream music and then turns into Hip-hop late into the night. Theres usually two pretty women dressed in bakinis dancing ontop of the bar and a stage people like to get ontop of and dance. The 2nd floor use to be where the hip-hop used to be but now its usually house or techno. Theres a big stage where performers perform various acts like fire breathing, rope flying and skating. The top floor is looking directly over the 2nd floor so its the same music. Usually VIPs close that area off. The basement is where you can get your coat checked in for $6. Personally, Ive had on layers and they did not charge me per article of clothing. (Coat, jacket and sweater.) They just put it on one hanger. Alongside the coat check in is the dubstep room, in that area there is also a tattoo shop. Yes, people actually get tats there. I wouldnt but its there. You will get lost in a large group but thats the best part. You can just be you here!
