Hotel was not maintained well- very worn out looking and management did not seem to want to invest in maintenance. Management was non existent to us and did not seem to appreciate that we chose to come to their venue- Will not do again. Indoor water park was just ok...nothing to wow anyone. Again- old and tired looking does not inspire confidence in cleanliness. Late night Jonny Rockets was good and the staff where great to us. Breakfast room was very cramped and crazy- families with small children spilling food- coffee and yogurt flying because there was no counter space, strollers blocking travel to the one door, no seating in breakfast area- you had to carry it back to your room. Food was simple and again just ok- unlike the excellent breakfast offerings, design and breakfast management we had in our hotel in Montreal...which cost no more $$, in fact much less. Took food back to our room...only three chairs in a large suite of rooms ???- guess someone expects that you eat sitting on your bed, as we were forced to do. Six Flags Great Escape/Lake George should be rebranded as Not Even An Adequate Escape. Many rides were not open (on a sunny Saturday in June !), and park was not extremely busy (can see why). Very poor layout in the park- maybe planned that way- poor idea ! Pavilion area which you must have as it is the only quiet seating area was filthy and OLD, OLD, OLD ! (The Pigeons and Trash Pandas had moved on to better digs) Forced through a gantlet of stores and vendors between every ride....and the prices are OUTLANDISH ! ($4.50 for a bottle of water, Nine bucks for a slice of frozen pizza...come on- I know it costs big to do an amusement park and you need to make substantial profit as a corporation...but there is a limit, and you have exceeded that limit with the poor quality of offerings). Value for money, the Six Flags-Great Escape Lodge and Water Park is a terrible choice for a outing. Our group of students and staff spend several (many) thousands of dollars in a 24 hour period. We were ALL very disappointed is the quality of the accommodations, the food and the entertainment value for our experience. You know its bad when our country kids/teenage students notice and comment as to the conditions. All I can say is that I hope that Six Flags-Great Escape invests in a little more in maintenance, guest services and better quality food options to stem the rapid slide into no star land.

Overall we had a "decent" time during our stay. My youngest son is 4yrs old and 38" tall. This left us with a baby (1-2yr old) area and the lazy river to play in. There is also a single slide at the top of the water park but parents are too big to go with them. The water was surprisingly cold during our stay so it was hard to keep going for more than about an hour at a time leaving you with a lot of time to kill throughout the day. I read a few reviews prior to our trip complaining about staff that didnt act like they wanted to be there. I didnt understand what that meant until I arrived. With the exception of a nice older gentleman who gives out the towels downstairs, none of the employees even once tried to make kids smile or try and offer assistance in any way. Check-in took close to an hour and the clerk didnt smile even once. Another strange occurrence came when I went to buy a Coke in the main lobby. There is a machine that charges $3.25 but I had trouble getting it to take any bills and I didnt have a credit card on me. I noticed the gift shop, only 10ft away, had cokes for sale. I went in and handed the lady $10 without noticing the price. When she gave me my change I realized I just paid $4.50. I asked if it was right and she said "this is a gift shop, what do you expect". I asked at the front desk and they said the machine was an outside vendor who charges less. Apparently you have to pay a 25% mark up for the service... Pros: The room was ready on arrival and was clean. The kids bunk bed was a nice touch and the kids loved it. Johnny Rockets restaurant was the highlight of our trip which is kind of funny when staying at a water park. The staff at Johnnys was friendly and they went our of their way to make sure the kids were well taken care of. Great job! Cons: Water park was cold and kids were being warmed up by parents all around us. Terrible and unhelpful staff. Really slow elevators! By the time they arrive, it was often full so you had to wait for the next one. We used the stairs much of the time. Very loud until about 11pm which is the start of "quiet hour". Late check-in times and nowhere to leave bags if you want to go into the park while you wait (There are $16 lockers). Room Tip: Top floor. There is a game kids play by running up and down the halls until about 11pm. It sounds like elephants running since insulation was obviously used in the hotel..

My wedding was held at the Great Escape Lodge and Indoor Water Park on Friday Sept. 2nd, 2016. I have to say, Tori and Alex were phenomenal. They were right there with answers to any questions I had, we even through surprises at them (guest showing up that were not accounted for, or moving the ceremony location from a church to the Lodge THREE DAYS before the wedding day!!!) and they still managed to have the event run so smoothly you would think everything went according to plan. I had the time of my life and felt as though I had not a care in the world because I knew the staff there had it all under control. Great place to host a wedding or large event. The chef knocked it out of the park, he alone deserves a 5-star rating. I had people all night coming up to me and raving about the food! "Best food ever" The bar tenders that we had, did good, but a few of the guests had complaints about them. (i.e. one guest ordered a mixed drink, as they was doing all night, ready to pay for it and the bartender poured a beer, the guest stated that they ordered a mixed drink and was ready to pay for it. so the bartender poured another beer. the guest was not happy, and rightfully so.) One thing I did encounter though is that my event coordinator Steve "blew up" my phone in the early planning stages, asking if we were going to book there. I finally made the decision that I wanted my reception there and gave my deposit to hold my date and after the deposit was processed it was very difficult to get a hold of him or anyone. Again though I cant say enough great things about Tori, Alex and the chef!!! Great crew. My husband and I are so very pleased with our decision. Highly recommended!

The facility over all was well maintained and clean. Restaurant selection , Tavern and Johnny Rockets not as upscale as I would have hoped for . Also found the lack of room service disappointing. The water/entertainment pool facility was clean and walking surfaces were textures and well marked to prevent slipping. Most areas were well guarded , however some of the upper level water slides for younger kids should have had a guard to monitor a double tube entrance to prevent shoving and cutting in line. The majority of staff were friendly, towel personell at the pool entrance . Some staff were not too helpful or short when being asked questions. The facility could use more signs pointing out where restaurants were in the lobby instead of the stairwells. The hotel room ,we had double full size beds. I thought the room was clean , but there were a few stains on the carpet. The bathroom was small , not well lit, only one recessed light, also no vent. The sink was not in the bathroom rather in the living quarters which makes for loud noises when someone uses the sink in the middle of the night. Prices for food in the snack bar, were a bit steep and food was your typical pizza hot dog nacho cheese stuff. Alcoholic beverages can be bought inside but are way overcharged. A large beverage cup can be bought for $12 and be filled up for "free" at many of the beverage stations in the hotel and vending areas. There are gaming tvs located around the facility that kids can interact with, but that is an additional fee, of course. I would recommend a one-2 night stay and male sure to check Groupon or Living Social for deals as the hotel is not worth the full price.
