An extremely valuable gem hidden in Queens that even I didnt know of until a few years ago, despite having driven past it and living a few 7 Train stops away. From the exterior, it looks just like any other home in the neighborhood, but unbeknownst to the unaware, a musical legend once called it home. Inside is 2 floors of everything that represented Louis Armstrong and his family, from his personal recording room, to the large portrait of his wife in the living room. However, despite the many features of this home, there is an essence of coziness and welcoming, as if the Armstrongs are your own neighbors. The tour guide can play authentic recordings of Armstrong throughout the house, which might be a little hard to interpret the words, but no one can doubt the distinct nature of his voice. Highly recommend to anyone, especially history buffs, music fans, and those wanting to play tourist in their own city!

Many know Louis Armstrong as the musician who influenced jazz musicians all over the world. Few know of his incredible intellect and as a diarist who kept notes on everything he did, heard or saw. Because of his wife Lucille, this home was his sanctuary. A haven in a neighborhood that welcomed and protected him. It reflected her taste and his acceptance of the warmth of their relationship that gave him a space to reflect. RIP Pops. I knew you, I loved you and I will never forget your friendship. A Cat who dug it!

Great :-)

Went over the Memorial Day weekend. It was a dream come true. It is one thing to be a life-long fan of Louis Armstrong. It is another thing to walk where he walked. I highly recommend this place even for the unfamiliar. Only thing to note is that if one has mobility limitations, you may want to ask for an accommodated visit. The old house has two flights of steps, and one may not sit on the furniture. Lastly, great tour guide and gift shop staff.

I went here a few years ago before I moved to NYC in June 2013. When I was last here they were planning some renovations/improvements. I thought the house/museum was awesome before the improvements so I am sure it is even better now. I was familiar with Louis Armstrong but my no means an expert so it was fun to see his humble abode and learn more about him. I definitely look forward to getting back here.

Time traveling into a world where music had soul and class. The love of Louis and His wife can still be felt in his house. I first went to the home as a young girl and now I take all my friends that visit NYC. A must see for all black people who love and respect Jazz music which was created by African Americans.

I was unaware that Louis Armstrong lived in NYC, and in Corona Queens of all places! Beautiful House and very interesting information on the tour. Some of which was very timely today. I also enjoyed learning about what a music lover Armstrong was (beyond Jazz). I am glad I went!

Called to order the Satchmo box set where I was going to pay for it and have a friend pick up. They told me they do not do this. I had a friend go by and they said your friend should have called and paid for it. This museum has lost my vote of confidence.

Wonderful place to visit. The informative tour gives one a glimpse into the life of perhaps the most humble 20th Century American icon. Thank you for your hospitality, Louis and Lucille. You have a lovely home.

Nearly an hour long guided tour of the house where Satchmo lived for most of his life, in the neighborhood that "What a Wonderful World" is about. Highly recommend!
