We came for The Office and made our escape! This is like one of those classic room escape games, where you have to gather items, decipher clues, solve puzzles, and find the key to escape from a locked chamber, except here you plot the escape in real life and with only one hour to spare! Good for: Puzzle lovers; room escape fans; group activity Hits: cheap tickets; lots of (frantic) fun; varied style of clues; decent amount of puzzles in a room; puzzles are fun and accessible; Cluemasters (i.e. game moderators/designers) are all puzzle enthusiasts and are very friendly and playful Misses: lack of storage area/space (for coats, bags, purses... etc); replay value - since puzzles remain the same in each room, and the answers are revealed to players at the end of each session, each room only warrants a single playthrough Tips: As of March 2014 the three themed rooms are - The Office (the original and the least themed), The Agency (spy themed), and The Home (Victorian period themed). Each room comes with different puzzles. Id recommend start with The Office since it accommodates the most people, which can make clue gathering, brain storming, and task assignment slightly easier. Id definitely return to check out their other rooms! Hopefully there will be new ones in the near future. Entertainment: 5/5 Decor: 3/5 Service: 5/5

Everyone had a great time, but.... Ive done one of these before at a different place in midtown, and I found that this one was WAAAAAAAAAAY too focused on combination locks to open more combination locks (we did the theatre room). It felt like 80% of the clues were "figure out the number to a lock using this clue" and youd get like 5 different 4-digit numbers at a time, so invariably everyone scrambles to test a given number on any lock they could find because the clues didnt really seem to point you to any lock by saying something like, "solve this riddle to discover there is a lock hidden inside X." Instead, it was more like, "solve this riddle to get this number, and then test it on any lock that will take it" (at least half our time was spent on testing locks). Not ALL clues were like this, but definitely most. We won with 10 minutes to spare, but Im pretty confident the fact that we had 10 able bodies to test numbers on like 15 scattered locks was a big part of that. This all said, it was still pretty fun!

Escape the Room’s downtown location, pretty similar to the midtown one in that it isn’t well marked and can be difficult to find, hits the same marks as the main one. There are only two rooms here, but both are fairly large and can fit 8-10 people. We participated in the “Apartment” room, styled like a typical tiny apartment. The clues were fun to solve and it does seem doable in the time limit, but we ultimately failed. I thought 90% of the clues were good, but one or two were a bit of a stretch and we lost significant time on them. Luckily you can ask for hints. The experience is great fun and excellent for team building as it requires lots of cooperation, communication, and some creativity. If you can find the actual place, you’re halfway to being able to escape.

So the experience was a little different than what I thought it would be. First of all, after the initial bit its extremely linear so you have to solve one puzzle in order to get to the next. Which makes sense, but with 12 people its sometimes better to have multiple puzzles that people can work on. Overall a fun experience though. Do it Conan style and order a pizza. Staff was great and helpful!

Played one of the games in mid-town in part based on photos of cool, interesting rooms advertised on google, only to find out that many of the pictures have no relation what-so-ever to their actual space. After further research, found that one of the photos was taken from an airbnb advertisement. Deceptive at best, especially when compared to the actual condition of their facility. Buyer beware.

I liked that they gave you hints when you asked for them. We asked fairly quickly to get a feel of how they think/what they are looking for. It was challenging and very fun. My family/relatives and I escaped the apartment/room in 58:27. The staff was great. Just bring what you normally would carry with you. Youll need a little more than an hour.

Great experience and we Escaped!! I did the theater theme. It was myself with 5 friends, and 4 strangers. We immediately started to all work together from the moment it started. They do give you 3 clues that you can ask for throughout the 60 mins. Must do and definitely will be planning to do another one.

The crew downtown was so accommodating and helpful for my daughters birthday party. Thanks to Bert (our awesome clue master) we escaped the room and the girls were so proud of themselves! Definitely looking forward to trying more rooms. Puzzles are so clever and uniquely challenging. SO MUCH FUN!

Super-fun! the only negative was that our group was put together with another group who we didnt know and they basically took over the entire thing. Make sure you ask for your puzzle to be for your team only when booking! Otherwise, AMAZING. Ill do it again!

Loved it! We held my daughters birthday party at Escape the Room on Sunday, February 26. The kids had a blast and so did we. The game is so well-thought-out and satisfying to play, and the clue master was phenomenal. Thank you!

Could be really great, but it seems like they need to scale back the number of people in the room. With more than 5-6 people, half the group wont get to participate. They should consider 30 minute sessions with <6 people.

So much fun! Ive been twice. Once with work folks. Once with friends. Both times had a lot of fun. This time we did the 80s themed one. Lots of great touches. And the helper was enthusiastic and fun.

Very fun experience. Its a supervised room. The lady was very helpful. They need to clean the rooms though. They are a little dusty. They have games for you to play while waiting for your appt.

Did the room with the 1800s feel. It was amazing time. Great place to take a group for a challenge or team building. You even get pictures of your group at the end.

Never really thought I would be an escape room type person, but some friends and I did one here and it was really great. I would definitely do it again

I had a blast with my coworkers! It was a great team-building exercise. I would definitely do it again, but the marionettes were a bit creepy though.
