The shows put on by the Fischer Center are great. The Spiegeltent is beautiful. However, the shows there are lackluster. We have been to a few at Spiegeltent that were sub-par. We went to some event during the last weekend of July that was really disappointing. It was an LGBTQ-fest, which would have been fine with me, except the whole set of performances were boring. Im sorry but Mx Justin Vivian Bond may be a fine coordinator of events but her singing is ... (I dont want to say anything bad here.) The other acts were so-so. I fell asleep through one act. The only one I thought was good was "Birth of an Asian Nation" by a talented duo. They were stellar. Otherwise, I would say: skip Spiegeltent (except for drinks before your show somewhere else) and go to all the other great performances at Bard.

There are very few places to see Frank Gehry architecture and the Fisher Center is a great example. The concert hall has great acoustics. The Summerscape Festival is so different than the fare in NYC. The grounds are great for exploring the Bard campus. Its a great weekend destination with varied theater, classical, cabaret, and experimental music. Its fairly distant from NYC but if you want to getaway from NYC and are looking for an alternative to Saratoga and the Berkshires, this is a great experience.

A fine venue for the performing arts on the campus of Bard College. The architecture designed by Frank Gehry is consistent with his design aesthetic, with organic flowing lines on the exterior. The interior is spare and functional. The auditorium itself has good acoustics. The performance I attended was very professional, which was impressive given that it seemed that the majority of performers were students. The center is a cultural jewel in upstate New York.

Beautiful performance space. The architecture is intriguing with a Sydney opera house vibe. Overall a good place to catch a performance, housed in a beautiful upstate town!

Roamed your foundation when they first laid it, worked as your sound engineer your first years, and you had my first orchestra piece performed. Will always love you...
