I would like to rate the Nassau Inn 1/2 star, not a full star. Stayed at the Nassau Inn in October 2011. I would never, EVER stay at the Nassau Inn ever again unless they change management AND do a FULL UPGRADE OF THE ENTIRE FACILITY. First of all you can hear all of the street noise in the room. Unlike larger hotels where you on the most part cannot open the windows I am sure for security reasons, these windows can be opened and the seal is terrible when closed. Its worse if your room is on the side of the Inn where the dumpster is kept. Not only do you have to hear the dumpster being opened and closed all night by the staff, but when the garbage truck comes to empty it, no need for an alarm clock...all of the noise will surely get you out of bed. If youre staying during the winter, good luck dealing with the fierce draft and dont forget to pack your thermals and a bathrobe (the rooms are drafty). They claim to be in the process of renovating, but it cannot happen soon enough. The central air/heating unit is OLD. The room is dated, the decor is dated, the appliances in the room are dated and dont get me started on the bathrooms. In 2011, a stone throw away from an Ivy League institution, a facility like this should be condemned and remodeled. If I ever need to stay in Princeton ever again, I will never stay at the Nassau Inn. I dont care if it is for business, I will stay at the Marriott near the Barnes & Noble which is a 5-7 minute drive (or less from the N. Inn). If you have to host a conference at the Nassau Inn INSIST that they either use coffee/hot water urns that plug-in so that folks who spend money to attend the conference can get a hot beverage and not a lukewarm one. Everyone in my conference went down the street to purchase their hot beverage because the Nassau Inn either cant boil hot water or just doesnt serve it! If you are ordering breakfast for your conference, insist that they either use cracked eggs or just dont do the eggs at all. Dont order sausages for your conference and find out how many days old the pastries are and if they are made on site. If you are looking for an old charming place to stay, dont really have an agenda and plan to just soak up whatever scene Princeton offers, this is the place for you. If you are accustomed to staying in quaint little places with not a lot of pomp and circumstance, this is the place for you. If you are accustomed to a full service hotel, with wireless internet, "street sound proof" windows, civilized looking bathrooms and decor and TVs made within the last 5 years, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU. I am NOT over exaggerating and this place made my stay in Princeton extremely stressful and regretful. The staff do what they need to do in my opinion and they do not go above and beyond the call of duty. The parking garage is "affiliated" with the hotel but it is independently managed from the Inn. Therefore, if it is full you have to drive to an alternative garage down the street and around the corner. If I make a reservation to stay at the Nassau Inn, I should be asked when making a reservation if I will need parking. As a paid guest, I should be entitled to being guaranteed parking in the preferred garage. If you are a woman traveling alone and plan to check in at night, pull up in front of the Inn, check in, bring your bags into the lobby and then go park. I am a New Yorker so struggling with a suitcase and other bags alone in a foreign garage is too creepy for my taste. I could go on but I am getting annoyed all over again.

Charged for internet -- and not even wireless internet (and they wont let you charge it to your room, so you have to fill out a whole credit card form). Then, when I closed my computer for a while and reopened it, it tried to charge me again (on the same day). I called the front desk, and they told me to use the access code from my confirmation email. I asked how to get to my confirmation email when I had no internet access. They just went quiet for a moment. Then they gave me a short-term access code and told me to use it to get on to get the access code from my email. Im leaving in an hour so it doesnt matter, but I checked and theres nothing in the email that looks like an access code. And I laughed when I saw that the order form for my internet access required both a billing address and a shipping address. Mail my internet to my house, please; Ill use it there. Doesnt deserve one star, but Id rather push down the average rating a bit more -- worst internet service Ive ever seen. Otherwise, probably a decent place, but Im here on business and the internet is all I needed. Sadly, theyre sort of the only game in town, so everyone stays here anyway, but Ive heard that if you can get a place outside of the Princeton center, youll probably have a better hotel experience.

Absolutely disgusted with the Nassau Inn in Princeton, NJ. I started a room block with them for my wedding (5/27/17) because I was nervous that I would not have enough accommodations for my guests. Unlike NORMAL hotels, this hotel does not have a normal room block contract. Instead of the rooms going back to the general public after the cut-off date and being able to release your rooms, the Nassau Inn still holds you financially responsible for 80% of the rooms you blocked! Despite telling them that I did not need the rooms well in advance (almost 2 months), they would not let me out of the contract. They also were not forthcoming with how many of my wedding guests had booked at the hotel (how convenient for them). Long story short, they debited 7 THOUSAND dollars from my account without letting me know. (and before they could contractually take money out of my account to begin with). They claimed they would reimburse me for rooms booked by the general public, but again, conveniently for them, the amount of rooms blocked was not enough to give me even ONE CENT of my money back. As a human being, I am disgusted by this hotel and this company. I had ONE couple stay at the Nassau Inn over my wedding weekend. ONE! They basically stole 7 thousand dollars for me.

Stayed at the Nassau Inn couple month ago for a wedding, I was really impressed by the charm of the old Inn. From the moment I walked in the door, it felt like I was walking into an old European hotel and the Pub they had by the front desk was great, the mushroom gnocchi was most excellent! The staffs at front desk and the pub were very pleasant and quick to answer all my questions regarding the surrounding areas and the wedding was beautiful with excellent service. I was assigned a room which I guess was on the newer side of the hotel or the side that has been updated recently. My room was decent in size; the bathroom was clean and bright. However my friend who also stayed here, got one of the older room that hasn’t got updated yet, it was definitely showing its age, but still charming in its own way and I can see why some people would be posting negative review if they got one of these room and is used to hotels like Hyatt and Marriott. I loved the Nassau Inn and the Princeton area and will stay with them again when I visit the area, hopefully the Inn will finish its updating process sooner rather than later.
