Great bands (free) and lots of "interesting" street performers. An open-air quality to most of the Fremont-facing casinos. It gets very crowded on Friday / Saturday evenings. You can park for a few dollars at the Golden Nugget parking deck and then stroll through the Nugget to see the giant aquarium in the pool area, and then finally dump out onto Fremont street at the far west end. There are two zip-lines that you can ride from the east end to the west end, one is a "seated" zip line and the other is a "superman" zip line - we opted for the superman version which is higher and goes faster than the seated version. It was $45 or so and you have the chance to buy a photo of your "flight" at the end. The Fremont experience includes a dazzling overhead show, the entire roof over the street is a giant video screen that shows displays that correlate to the music that is being played. There is also the Saxaphone man on some nights - he is outstanding. You will see your share of skin, as some local females come out to show off their bodies (some might not want to be seen) and have a chance to take your picture with a scantily clad woman, or man for the ladies. The Heart Attack Grill is on the east end of Fremont on the north side of the street. There they revel in cooking high-fat foods, including butterfat shakes and multi-patty burgers fried in butter. If you weigh over 350lbs you eat for free. Interesting place. Further to the east is the Neon Sign Museum - a collection of refurbished neon signs that were salvaged from places in the Las Vegas area. Very cool - although there is not much foot traffic down on that end of the street. Not a great place to take the kids, due mostly to the somewhat adult theme in my opinion.

While I will say the s is a great place to people watch, that is about the most you want to do here. My wife was partaking in the libations and when we asked for water instead of booze we were swarmed by security as if we were criminals and treated like common trash. This is not a joke or exaggeration! when we asked for WATER we were surrounded by security and were refused WATER in 100+ degree temperatures!!! I had over $1000 in US currency and offered to pay for bottled WATER several times before being approached by armed security ordering my wife and I to leave. After this we were shoved into an Uber which took my wife and I to basically a war zone in north Las Vegas where we were the told to pay $60 for a 5 mile Uber ride in cash. When we refused we were left at a gas station in a VERY dangerous part of town. At this point we had to order another Uber which refused to take in to our destination without a $40 cash payment!! Eventually, after several Uber and lyft requests we were able to get a driver to drive us to our destination. PLEASE BEWARE OF UBER DRIVERS IN LAS VEGAS!!!! If you want to be robbed or mugged this is an excellent choice. Otherwise PLEASE rent a car or take a taxi!! I am not joking when I say that you are literally taking your life in your Uber drivers hand in Las Vegas!!!

Old Las Vegas... some of the original Casino haunts that legends are made of... one can walk down Fremont street and recognize some infamous casinos that line this strip. The city has managed to preserve this street by placing a ceiling over the entire mini strip that lights up in animation videos! Under the canopy, you can find nightly concerts in the center of the strip that brings the folks out of the casinos to listen to the jams and booze away on the street. This strip is lined with lower limit tables, perfect for coming out here to learn your table games. I wouldnt come out here to play the slots though. I hear they dont hit as much as the strip. BUT definitely come out here to play the tables, some of which start at $5 and even a few that start at $1!!! when you tire of gaming you can go outside and have very affordable booze (compared to the strip) and people watch. There are a lot of street performers out here trying to scrape up a buck. Keep in mind some of these street "performers" are vagabonds that pull their trash together to make an outfit or a show out of for your entertainment. I kid you not, its worth a gander to check out these street freaks pull an act together! Just make sure you check your judgement at the door because it could get pretty raunchy out here! XD

An experience out of the ordinary. There were a few awesome bars to drink from. Some of them were pricy and very stingy with their liquor but some were quite generous. Id suggest to observe the bartenders before actually ordering if you dont want to pay 10$ for barely an ounce of liquor, oh and bad service on top of that. There were a lot of street performers, some very awful and some with actual skills. Strange looking photo models as well. BEWARE lots of "pick pockets". We were standing at an outdoor bar and my brother had on a back pack and he was leaning sideways on the bar. I then noticed a man that looked homeless get very close to his back pack with his hands leveled at the backpack(pretending to wait for the bartender). It was too close for comfort and so I turned towards him and looked straight at him and he immediately backed away and walked off. There was another one that tried 5 mins later. There are light shows and stage performances as well. Interesting but not amazing. Theres zip lining as well for those interested. A variety of restaurants and the Heart Attack Grill. Do check out the beef jerky store. They have a huge selection of quality jerky at great prices. They close early though.

The best way to experience Vegas. Yes, the strip is exciting and theres lots to do, but Fremont is a completely different way to experience Vegas. Besides being able to walk into some of Vegass first casinos and hotels (The Golden Gate Hotel and Casino is the first one, and if you go into their casino you can come across a wall of photos that shows the progression of the hotel and area since the early 1900s to today), Fremont has some great restaurants and bars, street performers and artists, and so much more to do than gambling and drinking. The zipline under the lights at night looks so very awesome, unfortunately I didnt actually do it. Be prepared for long lines to 1. buy tickets for the zipline and 2. to actually get to do the zipline. Since we werent staying very long, we didnt want to waste time waiting in lines, so we did more exploring instead. Additionally, at the other end of Fremont, youll stumble upon the Container Park, which is fun for all ages during the day, and an adult playground after 9PM. Soooo, overall: if youre looking for some cheap entertainment, good people watching, and something besides gambling, go to Fremont!

The iconic Fremont Street, lots of history crammed into a few blocks. Lots of places to visit in one place. Looking for a meal? Pretty much all of the casinos there have at minimum 1 restaurant, some could very well have as many as 4. A Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Dennys, even a Walgreens pharmacy. Then theres Neonopolis, last I checked, they had bowling lanes & cinemas. Zipline? Slotzilla has two choices, halfway or all the way to Main Street. And of course we cant forget about the Experience canopy. After sundown, I think the shows are either every half an hour, or an hour apart, and they last 5 minutes or more depending on what it is. A lot to see, and a lot to do. Just go at your pace and youll be fine. Only negatives I have are about those new street performers that are pretty much nude. (There shouldnt be a place for that downtown. I dont think even the Vegas Strip allows that sort of thing in the open.) And the homeless people trying to guilt trip you into handouts with their tiny underfed dogs. I cant tell if theyre actually homeless or just actors anymore…
