It must be the lunch service or something because I’ve been here many times on lunch break and service is consistently shoddy. Even if you’re the only people in there- it takes forever for the servers to get to you. One time the server dropped our plates off and didn’t return for another 20 minutes. Well after we were done eating and needed to pay because we were already looking at returning late. Ordering and eating a soup and a salad should never take more than an hour. This last experience takes the cake though. I ordered a bowl of soup and a side salad. Soup was brought me to cold- however that’s forgiveable. I also asked for vinegar and oil and what was brought to me was…oil. It was supposed to be a vinaigrette but there was no vinegar to it. I sent the soup back and asked for vinegar and the server brought me easily 1/3rd less than the original amount of soup back and then another container of the same dressing aka oil. It looked like oil, tasted like oil, it was nothing but oil. I asked for vinegar and she said sure and instead brings me another house vinaigrette and this one tastes like lemon oil. She states that perhaps it’s just too oily for my preference. I asked about vinegar again and she admitted she had no idea where it was kept. I was getting frustrated and asked for a different dressing altogether. I’m not sure if their vinaigrettes are just *really* gross or if my server didn’t pay attention in science class and doesn’t know that vinegar and oil separate therefore you need to shake them up before serving…..Either way, I hope their dinner service is better because lunch is always bad.

I asked the new manager if she was disappointed that her personal special event operation didnt work out. There is live music here and may be a bit hard to hear....all I heard was the owner of Phoenix offered her a better deal than some country club. It appears that she is very detail oriented...more than one napkin rolled up, excellent variety of cocktails which have been expanded to the happy hour list, a food menu which does offer healthy choices next to tasty fried bar food choices for an affordable price...this is the only establishment I have ever been in where the entertainment (KCs finest) was just as excellent as the beverages and food.

The live jazz music was great .the atmosphere was upbeat.. appetizers were okay... I wouldnt suggest this place as a first date... its just too loud and I didnt feel comfortable wanting to order the salmon and to eat it in that type of environment it just didnt seem conducive to the energy that was going on around me... I wasnt drinking I ordered iced tea but I guess they do offer all kinds of booze that you could drink if thats your thing... actually after an hour and a half I wanted to go... but that didnt mean I didnt enjoy myself which I did it was just time to go...

Great music, good food, excellent and friendly waitstaff. We called early afternoon the day we wanted to go and Jeff was so helpful in describing the atmosphere, the band, the layout of the place, even good tip on where to park. Way above the standard, "we are open from x to y and the cover is z" The place was packed when we arrived about 8:30 and stayed that way until nearly midnight, evidently a good sign the locals like it too.

Eh, we bought a Groupon so we had to use it. There was a cover to go inside, but it was so nice outside we just had drinks and a meal on the side patio area. Staff was okay, they seemed chill. Wanted to check it out because I read it was haunted. Dont think it was my scene. But dont knock it until you had a chance to experience it yourself.

Great live jazz music is performed here in a very unique setting. If you can, sit at the front bar, right in front of the musicians. These are the last seats to be filled, but if you actually want to watch the musicians, these are the best seats in the house...especially when Lonnie McFadden plays.

Great place to enjoy some great jazz music with a few cocktails and food. The Phoenix always brings in phenomenal solo artist and small ensembles; the house band on open mic nights is absolutely fabulous!!! This is definitely a hidden treasure in the Quality Hill District of Kansas City.

Get there early if you think itll be a busy night. The place is relatively small, so we ended up on the back patio instead of inside with the music. Still, the food and drinks we had were very good, and it seemed like a great atmosphere inside, based on the few minutes we spent in there.

I wish they had a better menu. I am not thrilled with any of the appetizers they offer, since when does artichoke dip have mayonnaise in it? The food is just mediocre so I try to eat before I go. The music is fabulous! Wait staff have always been nice and prompt.

I can not undersell this place! This is exactly what I picture when I think of KC jazz! Its in a beautiful old bar next to an history Broadway Street district. The website has a very in-depth schedule for performances if youre looking for a specific artist.

One of our favorites in K.C. Great atmosphere. I have been going to The Phoenix for probably 20+ years. Great place to get the night started if you are going out on the town. Good drinks and some great music to get the evening started. Good food as well.

I love the atmosphere of this club. The staff, food and drinks were amazing. I went here for a girls night out and had a blast. I would so recommend this club to those who are wanting to have a great night with out a "clubby" feel!!

Good music. Bad drinks. I ordered a martini and there was so much vermouth yuk! Then I tried a captain and diet.... and what I got did not taste like captain. They may be skimpin on their drinks which was unfortunate.

Only been there for lunch. Food is great, although it is not always fast so you might need to call ahead if youre picking up to go, but its worth it! Cheaper to buy the full wrap than using the pick 2 deal.

We went for Saturday brunch, service was a little slow. Building your own bloody mary was neat and the food was good. The jazz was a little loud for our liking but overall it was a very good experience.

Food is a bit pricy for the amount you get, good but small portions for the price. The music is pretty good.. service did not seem to be in a hurry to do anything for you.

A great place to catch some local Jazz, have a few cocktails, and enjoy some food, all at a reasonable price. They have sidewalk seating too, which is a huge bonus.

This place is a Kansas City CLASSIC! It has such a unique vibe that you cant find anywhere else in the City. The music is great, and the food is pretty good too!
