There is a reason why there are so many open tee times when you check WestWynd. They miss the mark here. All the reviews you have read about WestWynd are fairly accurate. On the plus side, it was a nice course, fun to play, great layout, and a challenge. But other than that, most of my review is negative. First, I just don’t understand why they don’t have any water on the course. It was a hot, humid day when I played and the 3 times I saw the beverage cart just doesn’t cut it. In all the years I’ve played golf (including Oakland Hills and Firestone) there is water on the course. Second, no half-way house. With a 10 am tee time, you play through lunch and yes, people get hungry. A pretty big surprise is there is zero sand in the traps, and there are a lot of traps on the course. I found a few, and I was hitting off dirt like some low end city course. Lastly, the people were not very pleasant. The starter was an idiot. We were a two-some and they paired us with another two-some, even though there was no one ahead of us for 3 holes and no one behind us for at least 3 openings. It was a very wide open starter sheet, like most days at WestWynd. Then it turns out all the later groups were twosomes or threesomes. So you guessed it, they caught up to us and then the ranger started giving us a hard time. Oh, and by the way, I can care less about brick paver cart paths. Golfers would rather have water to drink, food to eat, sand in the traps and pleasant people to deal with. All in all, overpriced.

Played this course as my high school teams home course. It use to be in better shape and it had a much better setup a few years ago. Pros - Challenging - Usually in fairly good shape Cons - Can be pricy depending on the time you play at. (No public golf course in the lower michigan area is worth over $60.) - Most of the time the turn house shack, which isnt even on the 9th hole, is closed - They do not have water coolers - They rarely have cart attendants - The new course setup is completely insane. This is how you will start your round: Par 5, Par 3, Par 5, Par 3, Par 5, Par 3, Par 4, Par 5.

Played on May 15, 2013. Not very crowded, Green fee was $45. $40 with a GAM card. Course was in pretty good shape. Greens a little slow, area around bunkers needed to be trimmed, some tee boxes on par 3s were a bit beat up. Fairways were in nice shape. This course is challenging. Not a beginners course with many bunkers, undulating greens, thick rough, some blind shots. Watch out for the marsh on your second shot on #10, Good service, people were friendly, course marshal helped us play through a slower group. Overall a good value.

Early-ish Spring round of golf. Pretty decent course in slightly above average shape for early spring. But the deal breaker was the pace of play. 3 hours to do nine holes, Staff was unwilling to help or give a 9 hole raincheck. Walked off after a painful 10 holes. Havent walked off a course in years..... will not be returning

We had a round with 6players today. The guy at their club house was so rude. No response to saying "Good Morning" and "Thank You". Even No eye contact at all. We all had the same feeling at our check-in. We all agreed Never Ever coming back again.

Among my favorite courses in S.E. Michigan. Always in beautiful condition but it is quite challenging. Local knowledge and sensible course management is necessary but the private course like conditions make playing here a quite enjoyable.

The course is always in great shape but I would recommend looking for online deals; the regular rate isnt worth it. Club down on your approach on 18 so you dont spray the patrons eating dinner on the patio.

Busy course, but very nice. One of the best in the area. The price is higher than average, but worth it. Cant wait to play again. A must try for for anyone looking for new courses to play.

Very nice course in great shape. If you can score a coupon youll get a great deal. Costco has a great deal last summer. Basically $35/round. Look out for water! There is a lot of it!

The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because of the butt kicking I get just about every time out lol... great track but difficult

It is my favorite restaurant. A quiet place to go eat and a conversation. Limited items on menu, but all are great.
