We had our baby shower there on 4/20/08 and the service and quality was very poor. This is unfortunate because Fernhill used to be a very nice, exceptional facility. I had heard that the original owner had passed away and his son was now taking over. Well, it shows. For my shower, the room was incorrectly set-up - way too many tables, too many chairs, too many place settings, etc. The exact set-up instructions and what we ordered was all excplicitly stated on the contract. Those of you who have put together these kinds of events know how important it is to have this be exact right when you walk in the door. We eventually got the room to the correct number of tables, chairs and place settings but it was being done as our guests were arriving. Additionally, I had ordered a microphone which Fernhill had shut off because it was carrying over in to the other room. The party in the other room also had a microphone and they were allowed to keep theirs. I was furious because we signed our contract BEFORE this other party with Fernhill, thus I was told that our room would get the microphone - the volume would be shut off in the other room. Well, the opposite happened. The other party got the microphone and their sound was cut off in our room. I was told by Fernhill that they were sorry as that was yet another error. I spent 10 hours downloading music and putting together other things that I wanted to put over the microphone but couldnt because of their error. The food was mediocre and the bathrooms, while very clean, are starting to look old, dingy. They need to be updated. I think the new owner of Fernhill either needs to get his act together soon or sell the place. It used to be such a high quality banquet hall.

Beer cart girl couldnt take a credit card out on the course but said she can run it inside. Finished golfing and went to go cash out. Told the staff inside the pro shop I needed to cash out. He never asked me what my name was, gave me a receipt and a credit card. I filled in the tip section then looked at the card and realized it wasnt my card. Told them it wasnt my card and he gave me another one. Told him that one wasnt mine either so they called the cart girl in. She didnt have it either! Checked my bank account and they had already given "Jeff" my card who cashed out and left. The manager was there and made no attempt to correct the situation other than telling me to leave my name and number in case the other guy comes back. Yeah right i cancelled my card while i was there! Then went back to acting like nothing was wrong. I had to ask want the fcuk was he going to do and was told sorry wish I could do more. I said well since "Jeff" already used my card and paid for beers am I all set, "Yeah sorry about that." Incompetence at its best. If they messed up my order or my place in line I wouldnt care but now youre messing with my money. Will never go back.

I had a wedding reception and ceremony at fern hill. Worst experience of my life! I wish I could put 0 stars. The day that is supposed to be the best day of my life turned into a living nightmare. The costumer service out of the staff including management was horrible. They did not care about anything. They went against my contract countless times and when asked about it they ignored me. I never worked with the same office staff ever. My rehearsal dinner was horrible and no one from the banquet office was there to help. When a manger got involved he was very rude to me and made me cry. The day of the wedding they over booked their building and caused a lot of unneeded stress on me. The chair and table covers were all stained up. Not to mention that they served wine to the kids( ages 5 & 12) in my wedding party! I truly wish I had chosen the many other halls I looked at before. If you are a bride looking to have your wedding here DO NOT!! It is not worth it! there are so many other places out there that are way better and will treat you better. Just a horrible place!

Do not get married here. One of the poorest ran wedding venues I have ever been a part of. No one from Fern Hill showed up for the rehearsal and when we asked we were shown to the patio by a member of the staff, then they proceeded to leave and lock the doors. The day of the wedding was a joke as the staff did not show up to help until the wedding was starting and then became upset with the wedding party as they were attempting to give directions yet no one knew what was going on again because no one bother to show up from the company for the rehearsal. They also failed to honor their contract and when we asked to speak with the person in charge we were told she was there, but we could not talk to her. Furthermore the hall was extremely warm and either the air conditioning was insufficient for the space or it was not working. Several attempts were made to have members of the staff turn the air on, but the requests were ignored even when they were made by the bride and groom. Overall it was an extremely disappointing venue and experience

I hadnt been to Fern Hill in quite a few years until I had heard they were under new ownership, and man what a difference it has made that place! I cant rave enough about the courtesy of the staff, and their outstanding menu. I find myself regularly heading here for dinner (huge fan of their arancini), in a cozy environment with a nice crowd and a cold pint. The whole establishment feels so clean and new compared to how it used to be years ago. One of my favorite things is heading up here after work during the summer, and enjoying dinner (or one of their awesome brick oven pizzas) outside on their patio. Its beyond relaxing. A beautiful view of their golf course and pure relaxation. They sometimes have live entertainment as well which is always cool. Im beyond happy with the direction Fern Hill has been taken, and it has become a favorite hangout spot for me.

We have went here twice for their friday night all you can eat fish ($10) and we overall liked it. The service isnt great and it was freezing inside both times we went, but the food was good. My other ate the fish (who claims is very yummy- and actual entire pieces, not typical half a filet type), and I have had a chicken and gravy as well as a chicken tender wrap- both were very good. Its very akward when you walk in because you seat yourself but there is no sign, so many people (us included) have lingered in the door unsure what to do while the staff avoids contact until youre sitting at a table unsure if you made the right decision. When we are fine with a slow evening and want good food, we are finding ourselves here.

Fern Hill is a basic course, really nothing special. The best time to golf is during the day, because they usually pull the flags early during twilight. This is a problem for people who like to golf after work. The fairways are clean cut, but the green usually have debris all over. They also dont balance tee times, if you schedule a time and arrive twenty minutes earlier, they will let you tee off anyway. Not good for people who arrive on time for tee times. Lastly, the course tends to flood a lot, so try to avoid if its rained in the last 48 hours. The staff is unlikely to tell you how flooded it is and you may be up for a surprise.
