As a member of the MIT Community (note that I do not work for the museum or sponsor it) I get in for free, which is a pretty great price. Still, when I took my father, I wasnt disappointed with the cost, and there are some really incredible exhibits. My personal favorites are the holograms (because they are great! I want one for my house) and the kinetic sculptures. While some of the exhibits rotate, the MIT museum is most like an art museum, so if you enjoy that kind of thing, youll probably do well. Their schedule includes interactive events, mostly aimed at youth, but otherwise the museum is not so much like the Museum of Science or similar museums, or like natural history museums (the Harvard museum is really the best in that last category). I dont think I would drive to Cambridge from outside the metro area for the MIT museum, but its certainly worth a stop if it falls in line with your existing travel plans.

I got totally disappointed when visited it. They opened 1.5 floors of exhibitions. The ground floor had only half area for exhibitions, mostly for internet explanation videos on a big and some small screens. The second biggest screen was holographic. The upper floor mostly had some old bared dead robots, showing the motors and circuits inside, but all dead. There was a dark room also showing holographic images smaller than the big one on the ground floor. But ironically the woman standing at the door was preventing visitors from taking photos and videos even without flash. Its just stupid since photographing doesnt affect the exhibitions at all, and the big screen on the ground floor was open to any cameras. I will never come back here to waste my time.

This is a really fun and interesting museum and its so cheap! $5 for students and $10 for everyone else. The moving contraptions are so intricate and really fun. The holograms are stunning although I had to squat to see them since Im pretty tall. The daguerreotypes are an interesting look at 19th century culture and the portraits are very stylistic. Its not something that kids would be interested in but it was a good break from the technological. One unfortunate thing was that many student projects were broken, they would have been very interesting had they not. Overall this museum is certainly worth a look.

Not a big museum but its packed with MIT achievements and their involvement in military advancements. Lots robots and rocket displays including one on high speed photography. Upstairs is an exhibit on MIT HACKING. There are a few hands on exhibits. The gift shop is downstairs. Admission for adults is $10 For parking, there is Two-hour metered parking nearby along Massachusetts Avenue and side streets. Public parking in the 55 Franklin Street Garage, two blocks from the museum and in the Le Méridien Hotel garage and Bishop Allen Drive, Central Square, both within close walking distance of the Museum.

This is a small museum that packs in a lot of exhibits - many are hands on. I cant imagine anyone having a disappointing visit here and expect that the negative reviews are written by students from other schools in a rivalry sort of way. My tween daughter and I visited here on July 6 afternoon and I had to pull her away from the place - she loved every bit of it. I was fascinated by the holograms and many of the intricately complex exhibits. We ended up spending an hour here - more than most sites we visited in Boston. This is included with the Boston Go Card and I highly recommend.

Embrace your inner nerd at this brilliant place (for a true history lesson, though, observe the tiles in the Kendall/MIT Red Line T Stop). Pro Tip: Two-for-one adult tickets if you show your Charlie Card; free on Sundays until noon. Highlights: (Arthur Ganson) Kinetic Sculptures, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Processing, Holograms (featuring Kismet, the oddly adorable robot).

Excelente experiencia.

Nice to experience something different. This is not your standard art or science museum and thats why I like it. It offers a really cool mix of both---representing MIT very well. I enjoyed the holograms, small but fun to stop by. I feel like this would be a great museum for young techy boys, lots of interactive stuff too if you like that type of thing.

Interesting exhibits for sure. If you follow MIT Press or things like PopSci etc, you will probably recognize many of the gizmos in this museum, as some of them are quite famous. The museum is also bookable as an event space, and it always makes for a very interesting venue for a mixer/reception/networking event. Really one of the jewels of MIT.

As an MIT alum and museum lover, I am perhaps biased, but I always thought this museum was so cool. A lot of the exhibits are kinetic--you push a button and gears start moving, for example. A great way to spend an hour in Cambridge. Bonus: near the bathrooms on the second floor (below the museum) is a great model train display.

Great little museum really showing off the cool science going on! A few exhibits focused on art in science and how you can make really impressive meaningful pieces using engineering and scientific principles. Some incredible holograms as well! Staff were friendly also and can get student discount (including international students)

As far as college tech museums go, this is probably the one to go to. When I went, the downstairs area wasnt as interesting as the upstairs displays. I was especially interested in the current students work, and it was cool to see how the "historical" items (e.g. robots) compared with todays students creations.

For the super techy person this is a great little museum to check out. If you read everything the whole thing might take you two or three hours to go through. There are some interactive parts too. If you come on Sundays before noon admission is free. (not my kind of a place but my friends loved it.)

What a great museum! Learn about holograms, robots, high speed photography. See intriguing mechanical art from MIT students. Really a stimulated experience for those inclined. Pro tip- Behind the gift shop is a coat rack and lockers where you can store your valuables for a quarter!

Disappointing. The Technologie shown in the exhibition was already old when I studied 15 years ago. All shown topics, videos and technologies are outdated and it does not reflect the position and meaning this university has. It needs an update urgently. 10$ is too much for this.

This museum is small but compact, filled with intriguing machines and contraptions made by MIT students and professors throughout the years. There were also many cool interactive activities. The visit doesnt take long but truly is a great experience.
