I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CINEMA TO ANYONE WITH A DISABILITY WHO DOESNT WANT TO BE TREATED LIKE A LEPER. I lived in Cambridge for 20+ years, and this was my favorite neighborhood cinema. My 20 year run just ended due to an unpleasant experience we had there in September 2015. My friends & I go to the movies every week or so. One of them is disabled due to a horrible, permanent back injury & cannot sit for long periods of time. We have gone to this theater several times, as we like the indie flicks. This time, we bought our tickets to "Learning to Drive" 1.5 hours before the movie start time. When I purchased them, I explained my friends situation (and stressed that she had to stand up a lot during the movie) and asked if we could reserve a handicap seat for her. I was told that they dont reserve them but no one every uses them, so getting one wouldnt be a problem. We returned an hour later to find that all the seating for the disabled was taken. Given this we sat about 5 rows from the back & my friend took the aisle seat. She had to stand up about 4-5 times during the movie - and made sure she went in the far back corner, so she wouldnt impede anyones view or access. She left her handbag in her chair so no one would think she was up to suspicious activity. She was treated very badly by an overly aggressive, hostile employee who kept telling her to sit down because she was blocking the fire access (she wasnt, trust me). She explained to him that she was disabled & we had cleared this with the ticket seller in advance, but he didnt care. Rather than go out & check with the manager or ticket seller, he basically harassed her each time she tried to stand up in the back of the theatre, until she was in tears. She missed a good portion of the movie due to his constant interruptions & was made to feel bad about her disability. It is hard enough for my friend to have a quality life with her disability or to enjoy outings on a limited income, but this man ruined what would have otherwise been a really fun night. I emailed the corporate headquarters, but never received a response. After posting the above review on their facebook page, I heard from their manager, Howie, who promised to apologize to my friend. Its been over a month & she still hasnt heard from him. I made it very clear that we werent looking for free tickets - and only asked that he apologize to my friend & train his staff a little better so this doesnt happen to another disabled person. Nothing. Given this, I am sharing my friends experience in hopes that no other disabled person has to experience such poor treatment at the hands of their misinformed & poorly trained employees.

I really like this movie theatre but was sad to see their prices were raised :( What makes this movie theatre is their selection of movies. With only a couple of indie theatres in Boston, its so great that they bring a wide range of the foreign and independent movie I have been wanting to see. Yes they are usually a week or two behind New York but at least they offer them. I have seen some really great French movies there. The theatre itself isnt any particularly spectaular but it does the job. Its conveniently located near some good food places especially now that Catalyst and Abigails has opened. Emmas pizza and the Friendly Toast are two other great options. I have not had too many problems getting tickets or seats here. They sometimes offer free screening which is great. I think you can find them through the Phoenix. The only thing that sucks is that its now 11 dollars and their student pricing available M-T is now 9.

Was going to the late show at 9:50. Was 15 minutes late, due to 2 traffic jams, both due to road construction. But I wanted to see the movie anyway, considering there are always previews and the movie was a documentary so it would not be hard to follow after missing a few minutes. The person at the box office would not sell me a ticket, and would not let me in the building. She said it was closed. Even though the movie and a few others had just started. She admitted there were plenty of seats available and she had just locked the doors but she would not let me buy a ticket to watch the movie even though it had just just started.

Our favorite theater -- we go nearly every week. Its not as new and shiny as it once was, but it shows a continuous stream of new, independent films that you simply cannot find anywhere else in Boston (yes, Coolidge Corner is another option, but their selection is more limited, and that goes double for the Brattle). We especially enjoy the one-week specials -- most of these films are never shown anywhere else in Boston (or New England for that matter).

KSC was gracious enough to host the Boston Underground Film Festival last year, and I had a ball checking out all the short and long programs -- theres something to be said for a theatre chair you dont hate sitting in for three hours. I recently returned for an indie film (We Need to Talk About Kevin), and my fond recollections of the cleanliness and generally cool atmosphere were confirmed. Solid! I only wish it were closer to the T.

I hit up the Kendall when the Somerville theatre isnt showing what I want to see. I have yet to be let down. All the movies the other theatres (except the brattle) probably wont show, nice staff, good theatres, somewhat decent location. The bathrooms are on the second floor though, which I think is a little weird, but Im not faulting them for that. Movie theatre planning is probably a Masters architecture class for all I know.

Landmark is a great theater co., specializing in independent & foreign film. With cheap validated parking (otherwise its the opposite of cheap) right in Cambridge, across from some good restaurants & bars for before or after, this is a great, easy, relaxing way to see a movie. Some of the staff can seem a little miserable at times, but the ticket sellers always greet you with a bright smile.

I honestly didnt know this theater existed as its tucked away from public transportation (about 4-5 blocks from Kendall stop on Redline). I went to a free showing of "Inherent Vice". The theater was comfortable but packed because it was FREE. The concession stand was clean and offered a variety of options from pretzels, candy, chicken fingers, soft drinks, tea/coffee and of course popcorn.

positively solid - the staff had me ticketed and popcorned up in mere moments - I was really struck by the very fast service I received, they were very on the ball. Im okay if a theater doesnt have the armrests that pull up, but I could clearly hear action movie booms from the adjacent theater during the quiet expository scenes in my film (I was in theater #3). Without that, five stars

A Private User

Volume is outrageous! Ask them to turn down the volume before the previews start. This theater has excellent films and comfortable studios but the volume at which they project their previews and often their main features is most uncomfortable. If enough patrons ask that the volume be modulated and they comply, we will all have a much better theater experience.
