We heard about all the hype about the Beehive brunch so we decided to try it out. When we got in, the service was super confusing. The hostess asked if we were there for brunch and I said yes, so she said - ok, just go downstairs. We head downstairs and I guess I was expecting someone to seat us but no one is paying attention. I flag a server and said, hi - the hostess told us to come downstairs, can you seat us? She said, Im sorry, I cant seat you. You either have to go back upstairs and have someone bring you down or go sit at the bar. We look around - the dining room is half full, so I asked - The hostess just sent us down here, you cant just seat us? She said no, Im sorry, you have to go back upstairs. (???) So we attempt to sit at the bar, when we go to the first spot, the bartender says, "you cant sit here" (no explanation, no apology). At this point, Im like - ok, can you just tell us where to sit? We just want to sit and order breakfast. He pointed to the other end of the bar. It should not be this hard to get seating. At this point, Im already frustrated. We sit at the bar and the other bartender is pretty nice. My husband gets the Roasted Turkey Hash ($18) and I get the burger ($18) and the Queen Bee cocktail ($13). We also ordered the Strawberry & orange coffee cake with honey butter ($9.50) but we never received it, decided not to mention it unless it was on the bill. It wasnt, so we just dropped it. At this point, the experience was sub par. I will say, my burger was fantastic. I also really loved the fries. My husband didnt like the hash. It was very dry and there was some random salad stuff going with the dish that didnt really make sense. I felt bad because it was my idea to try the place out, and ultimately, I was the only one with a decent meal, but the service and aloof vibe kind of ruined it for us. I may try it one more time this spring just in case this was all an off day, but at this point, Im not particularly excited to come back.

The host staff was awesome. My party was running late, but we were still seated in a great spot for the jazz brunch. The waiter greeted us and was very friendly. When he came to take our drink order, I asked him if there were any chargers available. At that point, his demeanor changed as if he was offended I would ask such a thing. Despite his indignant demeanor, he did check to see if there were any available. There were none, and that was ok. It was all downhill from there. It took a while to even order after our preliminary drink/appetizer order. The waiter was very curt and begrudgingly answered our questions regarding the menu Despite the service, the music was great, relaxing, and the dimly lit room added ambiance. The Bloody Mary was good, but nothing to write home about. I ordered a Bloody Mary, with no request for a particular type of liquor - which means house, typically. In this case, the waiter added absolute and added a dollar to my drink. When I asked him about him, his response was "you have to put some type of vodka in a Bloody Mary." Despite his snide comment, he did take that one dollar off. The truffled potato and cheese pierogies were delicious and very savory. The smoked salmon eggs benedict was decent, nothing special or unique. The fries were thinly cut and homemade. They were good and reminded me of my grandmas fries. The seating is close quarters for brunch. Its great because more people can enjoy the music. Its not so great in that you get to hear all of the paltry drama of your neighbors lives. This place was cute and full of personality, (hipster to rockabilly ?). While the food wasnt noteworthy, it pleased the palate. Overall, a good time, and Id go back.

It really pains me to have to write this review, as my past experiences here have been nothing but great. Ive always been a fan, though I probably only make it here once every two years. Ive always had a great experience in this fun lively space. However a recent late brunch has marred my thoughts. The issues I had were with the poor quality of service and the below expected quality of my meal. The first issue is their asinine "full party" policy for seating. This is a policy that serves no one and only puts a bad taste in the customers mouth from the get -go. From there, our waitress was rarely seen our entire stay, but most importantly, we rarely saw her in the crucial period between being seated and ordering our food. When our food did arrive, it was brought by a friendly runner but unaccompanied by our waitress, requiring us to wait to point out several mistakes and omissions from our order. When they were pointed out, it also took her much to long to provide an acceptable solution (forgot the cheese that the menu lists as part of the plate? dont take my plate back, just bring out a dish with the cheese for me to add, etc). The overall quality of the food is very good, and with those high expectations comes frustration when they are not met. Poached eggs that more resemble hard boiled than the lovely runny eggspectation? That said, the space itself is lovely, the live music is great, and your experience will have been worth the visit. I dont expect to come back any sooner than my normal every two year visit, but when I do I hope my experience resembles the first four or five visits where everything was perfect. Until then, my rating stands.

My wife and I went here for our 2 year anniversary and overall liked the place. We were greeted by the hostess immediately and escorted to our reserved area in a prompt manner. We were impressed by the decor, friendliness of the staff and selection on the menu. When we went, we were seated on the 2nd floor above the 1st floor seating - overlooking the audience and band that was playing that night. Service was fast, precise and helpful. We ordered the Short Rib sandwich and Lamb and Chicken Moroccan Couscous. Overall the dinner was good, but not really what we were expecting. Although the short rib sandwich was delicious - it wasnt clear that it came on a texas toast and that it is pretty much covered in butter. Though this is great, it didnt really do any wonders on my stomach. My wife had the Lamb and Chicken Moroccan Couscous, which was delicious but we found its presentation lacking. The drinks are great here. I personally had the Beehive Honey Brew, which is a light and sweet beer. I prefer dark beer, but this was a nice and refreshing drink on a muggy day. My wife had the Beehive Julep, which wasnt really anything surprising or or interesting to us, but we then ordered The Classico - which was excellent and hit the spot immediately. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but are conflicted with the visit given our choices that night. Perhaps if we visited again we would try something different, but right now were giving it a 3/5 given our initial experience. Were looking forward to coming back and trying out some new things :)
