I was invited back to Bostonia after my first visit and it was a completely different experience. The service was as exceptional as it was the first time, the big difference was that the food ranged from good to outstanding. The cocktail list is also excellent as is their unique wine setup. I had quite of few (too many) of their cocktails. I really enjoyed the Bostonia Sour, the Diva, the Happy Boss, and especially the Espresso Martini. They have a pretty unique wine list and setup as well. They even have a super premium wine you can order by the glass called Screaming Eagle out of Napa Valley... bring your Black AMEX card though, its $800 a glass. Food: Tater Tots Poutine - On this visit the tater tots were cooked perfectly. I really enjoyed this dish. Boston Baked Beans - This came out as an amuse bouche. The presentation was fantastic, the beans came in a fake porcelain can. Im not a big fan of baked beans but these were pretty tasty. Mac n Cheese - At the end of the day it was still mac n cheese, however the crust on top really set this dish apart. Not overly salty and perfectly flavorful. Tuna Crudo - This dish was pretty good. It was very spice forward blocking some of the taste of the fresh tuna. Still a solid dish I would get again though. Clam Chowder - This might be the best clam chowder I have had in memory. There were plenty of clams and the purple potatoes used really helped with the presentation on the dish. Crab Crusted Cod - At first glance it sounded like an odd combination however this was one of my favorite dishes. The cod was light and flaky and the crab crust did not overpower the dish. The cream sauce below was also delicious. Great if you are not looking for a heavy dish. Lobster Roll - If you are a lobster roll purist you may not enjoy this one as much as I did. Instead of mayo they use avocados and also add bacon crumbs. I loved it, it tasted so rich and delicious. I usually think lobster is overdone and overpriced, but this will probably be my go to entree on my next visit. Georges Bank Scallops - The scallops themselves were delicious. So was the white beans underneath, but together Im not sure they worked. The beans had a spice that overpowered the scallops if you ate both. The scallops stood well enough on their own. Berbere Spiced Pork Ribs - These were pretty standard pork ribs, not bad, just not memorable. The almond quinoa that came on the side was very tasty though. Bostonia Cream Pie - This was good, it was their take on Boston Cream Pie, which was essentially deconstructed. I prefer the original interpretation. Bourbon Glazed Sweet Potato Doughnuts - A highlight of the meal and a must get item, I would order these on every visit. Apple Crisp - The apple crisp didnt come out hot, it was luke warm. It was topped with salted caramel ice cream which made it a little too sweet. If it was more warm and came topped with vanilla instead it would have been perfect.

I have been to Bostonia Public House for drinks and apps many times in the past. I sent out an inquiry to five restaurants/bars in the Back Bay and Government Center areas for a birthday party request. Megan from Bostonia was the first to reply. After a few other replys Megan sounded the most helpful and for a sophisticated bar, best priced. During the entire process I was at ease. I am a very anxious person and for the size and importance of this party I was comforted every other day, minutes after sending a frantic email to Megan. I was a little over the top and after seeing the end results, the next party I have at Bostonia I will leave in her very capable hands. The party went off without a hitch. I even revived a call the week prior after Megan noticed that I made a dinner reservation on OpenTable. She had moved me to a table that she felt was better situated and would serve us best. The food we ordered that night, I would have paid double, it was fantastic. The service of Monia and Kim was top notch. Not one of my guests went one minute without a drink or service. As the night progressed Monia increased her inquiries as to how things were going. The cake shop (ConfectionetlyYours) that Megan recommended made the most wonderful piece of art that I have ever seen. I have yet to see a two tier cake with a Boston skyline until the night of our party. The manager on call the night of the party came over and checked with us multiple times, the manager came over to introduce himself while we were at dinner with the guest of honor. I have had a lot of experience with the sub-par customer services offered in the city of Boston from some of the "higher end" bars and restaurants... Bostonia is on a class of its own. Megan is the best event coordinator in this city. I highly recommend that you go in for a drink and dinner and more importantly, hold your most important events here with the utmost confidence that you and your guests will be highly impressed!

My fiancée chose this place based on several good reviews. We sat down to brunch at about 10:30 on a Saturday morning and did not wait. We were seated and immediately ordered drinks. I ordered a coffee which itself was not bad and my fiancée ordered a Salty Pianist. Yes, that was what it was called. It was like grapefruit juice on steroids. It was quite good. The food was some of the best Ive ever had. I ordered the Rock Shrimp and Grits and she the Shortrib Biscuits and Gravy. I would say we both wholly enjoyed the mean. The presentation was above average for brunch and the food was perfectly cook. I mentioned to her that it was probably one of the best meals Ive ever eaten. Ive visited the south quite frequently and had grits in a lot of places. Bostonia Public House is on par with a lot of those places and even puts some of them to shame. You will not be disappointed with this choice. They are a little pricey for a brunch (we had the $60+tip for two with one drink and a coffee which was $4 dollars btw...) but you wont be disappointed with your choice if you choose to spend your money here.

My husband and I dropped off at the Bostonia for brunch on a Sunday afternoon before we made our way to the Charlestown Navy Yard. This place is quite cozy! I ordered the breakfast sandwich on an English muffin with a side of potato hash, while my husband ordered the lobster mac n cheese. Both dishes were great! We saw a long table set up inside (we were seated on the patio) and were curious what it was for. Then we realized it was their Bloody Mary accompaniments table. Sure, the cocktail was $17, but Im sure you could make it worthwhile by adding shrimps, lobster, pepperoni sticks and a whole bunch of the other add-ons they had on offer. Great beer selections on tap and friendly service. Would come back if I were in the area!

We held a company event in the private room on the second floor. The room itself was very comfortable for our 18 guests with room to mingle. There were a few sitting chairs and love seats in the room as well that people took advantage of during our pre-dinner cocktail party. The meal itself was excellent. We ordered from a previously selected limited menu and everyone raved about their meals. The timing between the appetizers and main meals was spot on and we never felt rushed. The wait staff made the evening in their friendliness and availability - we were never left wondering where they had gone off to as they were always at the ready. I will definitely return again!
