Dont go to the cafe unless you want subpar food and and THE MOST AWFUL SERVICE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED IN MY LIFE and that is no exaggeration. My order was wrong, I had to argue about why is was wrong, I asked for salsa and they couldnt figure out if they had that so I asked for an extra side of pico de Gallo and was told I could have it for an extra charge. There were several other milder annoyances with the service and so when I asked to see the manager I was told that he was too busy with other customers to see me. They should rename the cafe to The Twighliht Zone.

This museum has an odd collection of Native American art. I say odd mostly because there seems to be no real central theme aside from it being vaguely related to Native American culture. For example, its not even that the pieces are all created by Native Americans, the pieces all just have something to do with stereotypical Native American culture. The areas upstairs are relatively organized by tribe, but the area downstairs needs some work, in my opinion. Overall, I recommend giving it a chance because it houses some truly stunning pieces.

Sadly I was not impressed. I was expecting actual artifacts used by Native Americans, not "Replicas." We saw only a small section even speaking to the ones that lived here in Indiana for centurys and Im still not sure why there is an giant "Art" room. What do giant steel balls hanging from the ceiling have to do with Native Americans? Im not against art but that was MOST of this "museum (!?)" Save your money and drive north to the Koteewi park in Hamilton County- THAT is a "Museum" for the Native Americans.

We recently stopped to see the Ansel Adams exhibit. The museum building is reminiscent of an adobe pueblo, and has many interesting plantings on the grounds. It abuts the canal walking district. The exhibits in the museum itself are interesting, but once you are partway through the second floor exhibits, you are fairly committed as the exit areas are limited. The photography exhibit upstairs about the gay rodeo was also interesting. A good introduction to First nation lifestyles and western art.

This is one of the most outstanding Western and Native American fine ART museums in the world! Their collection of Western art is excellent but it is their Native American Contemporary Fine Art collection that stands out. Even the Smithsonian acknowledges that this museums collection is the best. Visit this museum anytime and you will always be impressed and hopefully challenged to see art and the world through new eyes. Indianapolis is lucky to have this cultural asset.

This is a great place to go if youre really into seeing some great cultural art! It is conveniently located right in the heart of downtown Indianapolis and is a great place to go if youre looking to do something for an afternoon. If you want an even more immersive look into Indiana history you can travel next door to the Indiana state museum where they have an IMAX theater and even more exhibits year-round.

We really enjoyed this museum. The Native American and Western art was vibrant and beautiful. The bronze sculptures were my favorite (inside and outside!). The kids area in the basement is really fun, and I think for all ages — dont miss it. The museum is cool, spacious, clean and staffed by friendly people. We enjoyed walking through the garden down to the river walk. Great location.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Eiteljorg Museum. The outstanding Western paintings, contemporary pieces and history make for varied and interesting discoveries throughout the museum. Its location offers easy access to a stroll and a bit of music by street musicians on the canal walk. An Indianapolis gem. Park underground and get your ticket validated at the museum for free parking.

A cool museum about native American history. While I rated it 4 stars (wish it was out of 10 as Id give a 9/10) as I thought quite a few of the exhibits were dry, they do have one regularly changing exhibit that was interesting (about dogs when I went). Id also recommend visiting the kids section in the basement, more interactive and kinda interesting even for adults.

Hermoso museo donde se muestra el arte, cultura e historia de los indios de Norteamérica, auténticos dueños de este territorio. Volvería a este museo cientos de veces.

This is a very interesting collection of art and artifacts based on or created by Native Americas. You can get very close to paintings, and other objects, to get a true sense of effort or step away to simply enjoy the beauty. Intrance fees are fairly low and validate your parking. Expect to spend around 2 hrs depending on your interest level.

Totally unexpected delight in Indy. Fine food in their Sky City cafe at a very reasonable price. Great hands-on for kids in their education area. Jingle Rails was amazing! The Indian and Western art are not the best Ive seen but there are outstanding items that make it worth a few hours stop.

This was our first time to attend the Indian Market and Festival on June 25. It was so enjoyable. The vendors had beautiful pieces of their art work displayed, were friendly and informative. The highlight for us was the Indian hoop dancer! Please invite him to perform again. He was wonderful!

A great museum to check out for a low key afternoon, especially if your interested is Native American and early western history. Be sure to check in all your contraband at the front desk. Water bottles, umbrellas, etc are all not permitted in the museum.

Interesting place. We came for Jingle Rails which is a display that they set up every year around Christmas. Several floors of art, most native American inspired. It was cool. My favorite was the large 3 part painting of the Grand Canyon. It was amazing.

The Eiteljorg Museum showcases beautiful Native American and Western Art in an inspiring setting. There is also a great interactive Early American area for young kids. Lots of great special events and concerts as well.

Perfect 2-hour museum experience. Neat mix of wild west and native art. Exceptionally friendly staff were unafraid to offer info and engage with visitors. $13 seemed steep, but the experience was great and no regrets.

Amazing collection! Better collection than the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian on display! Also, they offer military and student discounts. Would recommend to anyone visiting Indianapolis.

Some lovely art and sculptures but also some items that could have been drawn or created by a two year old. Nevertheless the excellent far out weights the "what the hell is that doing in a museum" items.
