I was attacked by a boy named Casey, as i was watching the legendary Dave Coe Casey the boy bouncer came out of nowhere and chocked me. He then continued punching and fighting me. Many people witnessed the attack. I have seen over 50 shows at the bird and my family has been a part of the bluebirds history. The bouncer on the wall behind the bar, you know the picture of Bear with his red motorcycle, well thats my uncle. I am also related to the man on the bad elmer beer bottle that you serve. The Bluebird will never get my money again. And as I was the DD last night Casey had no right or reason to lay his hands on me. I have photographed my wounds. If Casey the Boy still works there 30 days from now then I will be forced to take legal action. Also he can try to lie about what happened but I have a friend who was recording the show, based on this footage my Lawyer has no doubt that I could sue this establishment for damages. As I know and respect the property owner I dont want that to happen, But if this out of control over zealous boy bouncer is still employed at the Bluebird I will have know choice. I am sure that he has many issues as a bouncer. as one of the other bouncer was between us trying to hold casey back, also on recording...............................................BAD FOR BUSINESS...................................

Just got back from the Michael Franti and Spearhead show (2010-10-20). Sold out. That means people packed together tighter than sardines. Poor lines of sight, steps up and down everywhere. Jeez. The Fire Marshall in Btown must be incompetent or on the take. After standing through the opener and the break it got even more crowded (is that possible?) during the opening song. We tried to get out but that was difficult. Resorted to repeatedly yelling "must get out...freaking out." and some people made room for our exit. On the positive side, lots of intimate physical contact with strangers. Never again. The venue sucked. jd p.s. The "Bird" also has an insipid selection of draft beers. The most exotic draft was Sam Adams. They should serve some of the local brews from Upland Brewery.

This is hands down the worst place that I have EVER been to. Its filled with immature, disrespectful, inconsiderate, stumbling drunk college kids. The people in this bar completely ruined the concert that I had purchased tickets for. We left before the concert was over because of the way everybody was acting, and management/ employees had zero care. Their were broken beer bottles all over the floor, we were standing in puddles of beer anywhere we went, their were kids throwing up on the floor, and nobody did a single thing to clean nor prevent anything. I would never in a million years suggest going to this unsanitary and extremely poorly cared for hell hole, and certainly will never be back.

I went almost ten years ago to see Pat Green. I loved the place. I finally made it back last week to see Josh Abbott. They have this tall skinny bouncer who forcefully made his way through the crowd running over people, throwing elbows, and even shoving women. When an older gentleman who was standing by us that night (off duty indy cop) called him out on it he got in his face, told him he was thrown out, grabbed him forcefully and a shoving match insued. The woman I was with was hurt and bruised in the altercation which was 100% caused by this bouncer. People...CUSTOMERS..do not PAY to come to the venue to have this happen. Completely unacceptable.

Just saw Lucero last night, and it was an AMAZING show!! Everything else about the place was ok. Typical bar Id say. Alcohol selection was ok, but expensive as I expected. But the ONE THING keeping this place from getting 5 stars, is the fact that even thought I was one of the first people to get in the door at 8, the mens bathroom had NO TOILET PAPER, and it didnt have paper towels either, just a hand dryer! I would think they would make sure their bathrooms were ready to go before the doors opened started!

I went to check out open mic night, went up to the bar to get a beer before I went onto the floor. I couldnt see the taps so I jokingly told him "Sorry, I forgot my glasses, what do you have on tap?" He replied with "Why dont you just walk down and check!".... I proceeded to walk out and find a place to grab a beer where they would actually enjoy my buisness. Maybe he was just having a rough night but thats no way to treat anyone!

In my humble opinion this establishment consistently delivers poor service. They frequently host popular talent. However, in my opinion the discourtesy displayed by the young staff cancel out any other merits the location may offer. Im consistently dismayed by staff interactions with patrons. Treat yourself to another establishment that values your patronage, and is more in keeping with Bloomingtons upbeat spirit.

Wow what a groovy place! Hip music scene is bursting alive and well in Bloomington and this packed house proves it. Staff is about a level 2 of friendliness on a 10 scale but they deal with uncooperative college kids every night and it is to be expected. Hot & claustrophobic feeling place when packed... just step out if it gets too much.... lots of bar areas ... interesting decor...

Man, I love this venue. Ive seen so many shows here... Saw Everclear here. Saw Fitz & The Tantrums here. Just an awesome venue in a great location. Small, too, so get there early if you want a good spot near the stage. They get some pretty big acts, too, so chances are good you will see some names you hear on the radio. Rock on!

I stop by pretty frequently for concerts, fits the college area dive-bar mystique quite well. Oddly shaped so sometimes its difficult to find a good place to stand. Get a good amount and style of bands in though, worth the drive over from Columbus as the shows are usually pretty cheap as well.

This place may have 15 cent beers on Wednesday, but its only the crappy ones. One beer on tap per Wednesday. The bouncers checking IDs were rude about people using their coupon for free $5 cover. The bar tender even got upset when we asked what beers were on tap. Not a place to go twice.

I dont drink but the bar tenders are pretty nice. They have a huge screen for football games at the bar. They have a pretty good karaoke night. It was fun and it looks like a good place to play in a band if youre in one. Parking might be hard to find.

The band selection is good for they normally have something throughout the month that everyone will like but other than that its a typical overpriced bar thats normally crowded but the staff is normally great and the people are always a good time

Cannot believe how downhill this place went. Used to be my favorite bar, but now that they allow sleazy girls gone wild cameramen to film and accost paying customers it is not worth it. Do NOT include this as a stop on a visit to bloomington

Fun place to go every once in awhile. Sometimes they got a good band in there playing live music. Beer & drinks are reasonably priced. There is normally cover to get in. Overall, a good place to hang with some friends and grab some drinks.
