The bog trail is very beautiful and not too long. Floating walkways take some getting used to, especially if you are disabled. Also, there are no railings to hang onto. The other longer trail is LONG! We started out late but thought we could walk it. Luckily we bumped into a set of teenagers and they told us to go back, wed never make it in time since it loops around. Walking back was rushed and painful and we barely made it. It was 7:15pm and luckily the guys who lock up were late. I dont think we will ever be doing that trail again. There were no signs or markers telling you where to go or anything. Its a beautiful place but needs some updating.

There are 2 trails, one is a half mile and the other is 2.75. Both are great, the shorter one though is more exciting in my opinion. Not for the little ones or people with difficulty walking, its a narrow floating bridge with no handrail. One slip, and youre in the bog! I went on a windy day, and had to walk slowly to maintain footing for a bit. Theres constant chirping frogs, bugs, snakes and birds. You can still hear the cars drive by at certain points but all in all a great adventure to spend an hour or two!

One of the best State parks anywhere. Tremendous community involvement, 5 distinct ecosystems, including the incredibly fascinating open-water quaking bog. Definitely a place where you must "stop to smell the roses", because the wonders are easily missed by rushing. I have been going to the bog for several years, and I find something new and fascinating almost every time I go.

Solitude for me! 2017 Winter: aside from only a couple hikers I met, this place was deserted on this cool, soon to be wet trail. Some ice on the trail, but I was able to navigate it OK - yaktracks would have been nice. Lots to see here, even in winter! Absolutely beautiful and a must see for anyone who hasnt been here yet.

Really quite beautiful and picturesque place to visit. I go almost every year. The bog portion of the Volo Bog is actually quite small with the majority of the "Bog Trail" being marshland, however there are absolutely beautiful grassland praries off the longer trail that are not to be missed.

Because it is the furthest southern open water quaking bog in the contiguous US. It is beautiful, it is a perfect place to watch birds and a amazing place to study plants. Just realize Memorial Day thru Labour Day YOU WILL BE EATEN ALIVE! The other nine months of the year are fantastic.

Great place to visit. Largest bog in the nation (didnt know that until i visited). Shorter amd longer trails. There are several Pokemon Go stops and a Pokemon Gym. Unique experience of walking on water. Wildlife all over. Theres even a "Turtle Pond." Also, a place to bring your dogs.

Beautiful every season. The main bog trail is perfect for small kids, cause its short and interesting, plus longer trails for when they get older. The visitor center is educational and gives kids a chance to handle bones and other cool things they might not get opportunity to.

This is a nice semi-wild area with long hiking trails. Relatively peaceful so close to a big city. Only bad part is that the trails are not well marked and longer than expected. Hard on small dogs when we realized how far it was back to the parking area.

A phenomenal and weird natural experience. The floating pier keeps you above a litany of frogs and dragonflies. We hiked for about 5 hours without being bored. One of our buddies was bugged by the mosquitos on the side trails, so do bring repellent :(

Nice place for short hikes near Chicago. Interpretive center is nice and this place always offers an interesting selection of wildlife. Trails are well maintained. Kids play area is a nice touch and this is an easy place to bring young children.

Small and quiet natural area for a casual walk around/through a bog. Lots of bugs because there is a body of water. Floating pathways seemed to be where the bugs hung out most. Best time to go would be when you can wear long sleeves and pants.

Mostly hiking trails around the largest Bog in the Midwest. Also with a information center. Many birdwatchers come here because of the diverse selection. I have seen a few Eagles here. Font forget your mosquito spray

Beautiful place for a walk! If you have small children do not plan to bring a stroller it would be very difficult. Also the bog floating walkways could be a challenge for anyone thats not too steady on their feet.

I love this place. There are short walks and long walks with plenty to see on either. Unique plants not found in many other places; especially Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. Please clean-up after yourself.

Great natural area... The floating walkways are neat and make the walk through the bog picturesque. The story of how the Bog was created is also fascinating.

Bird watching and green trails. I went with reluctant nieces who ended up fascinates with big life while my sister and I planned her indigenous Prairie garden.
