First and most important: its a very small zoo. There are not many animals there like at a typical zoo. There is free admission and free parking. The animals are in good shape and are those that they take in that were hurt or injured and no longer able to survive in the wild on their own. I give them credit for that. They have a cougar, two eagles, some owls, a hawk, falcon, turkey, goat, otter, two alligators, and an iguana, tortoise, a bunch of snakes and turtles and fish in the reptile house. You might just need an hour to see them all, or up to two if you walk slowly. Its stroller friendly and the zoo is kept in good shape. There is a visitor center next to it with a sunken garden that is worth seeing, so you can see all of that in one trip and it would be a least 2-3 hours worth to see.

Used to love this place but not so much anymore. Took a group of children to the park and found out that the scheduled story time I noted in an event book wasnt happening, the splash pad didnt open until 11am, groups of children were waiting, tram only runs on certain days now, park area was closed off from zoo area due to construction and most of the animals were unable to be seen. We ended up leaving feeling disappointed. Its summer and hot I believe splash pad should begin as early as 9 am, tram should run every day to accommodate travelers to the park and scheduled events should take place when set. We live super close and will go back for time to time but were not happy with our last visit.

You just cant beat Free! I absolutely love Phillips Park Zoo and continually visit. The grounds are beautiful and you can make a day out of it by grilling on the parks provided grills. Also, there are some massive playgrounds, which is a huge plus if you have children. The sunken gardens are picture perfect and to think they have found mammoth skulls within the park. Favorite animal of Phillips Park Zoo has to be the Cougars. I dont know how anyone could rate it anything other than "Loved It" 5 Stars considering its free admission.

For me this park is a perfect place for family picnic. Very spacious and clean. Children who like to play will not be disappointed because there are lots of playground. Folks who want to stroll around and see some of the beautiful animals and birds will definitely like this place. Lots of trees, shades and benches in the picnic areas are there for the people. Also, I was amazed by the cleanliness of the surrounding. I recommend Phillips Park to everybody to enjoy.

Nice little zoo with plenty of picnic and playing area in the surrounding woods. If you are planning a family reunion or a party and you want to have it at an outdoor space, this would be a great consideration especially if you have lots of children who will attend. The staff is informative and very helpful. The grounds are clean and well kept. Some of the animal displays are a little sad (especially the alligators) but most are small and appropriate.

Not just for kids!!!!!! My husband and I wanted to do a "stay- cation". On our list of things to do was go to this zoo, because have lived 1/4 of a mile away for 14 years and never went. We finally got over there and WOW! It was fantastic. I just loved it. Its beautiful, and you get a very up close and personal view of many of the animals. I found myself smiling the whole time. Well worth going, and I will be going back. That is for sure!

Awesome park & zoo. Yeah, thats right! Zoo. Not Brookfield Zoo or Lincoln Park Zoo ( which is also free) but a small zoo that is free! I would suggest to go here over some pretentious park in Wheaton that has a military museum and some tanks. Plenty of picnic tables and no security guard to tell you where you can and cant play. Family friendly and easy to get to. Oh yeah and they have a splash pad too! Free to the public!

My son and I both visited this zoo for the first time yesterday. We were surprised by the amount of animals on display. Looked like a section was blocked off near the birds for renovations. If a small cover meant making this place pop again we would have no problem helping. Wish I had the means to donate. Wonderful, peaceful place, polite staff. Will recommend and return regularly.

Very nice park, all year round! There is a small zoo, sunken gardens, walking paths, and huge play grounds. They have a splash pad in the summer. At Christmas time they have an incredible light show surrounding the whole park. The park and its activities are free, but they could always use donations. They also have a tram that you can take around the park. Love Philips Park!

You will NEVER hear any of the staff here say, "I dont know." This is the first zoo for the Chicagoland area before Brookfield Zoo was built. The visitors center has a lot of info about this zoo and it is cooled in the summer. There is a small water park for the kids to play in during the summer. Overall, this is a well organized & safe place.

This is a very small free zoo. Good for a half hour or maybe an hour. Some of the cages for the larger animals have viewing glass so you dont have to look through the fences. But some do not have glass. The eagles and peacocks must be viewed through the fence(s). Too bad since Im an American Eagle bird fan. But its still a fun zoo to visit.

Love this park even as a young kid, now I bring my own kids and they love it, friendly place for families to come and have a picnic, party etc and see the animals and learn at the same time. Theres a play ground for the kids and also a trail for adults who want to work out and so much more.

The zoo is incredible. First of all, its free. Second, they rescue animals! Most, if not all of the animals there have been rescued. I think thats awesome. There is also a nice playground right outside and a beautiful garden. Its just a great place to spend an afternoon. Highly recommend!

Super place to bring the kids! And its FREE! See the wolves, mountain lion, foxes, eagles and more. Check out the Mastedon display and then play at the very large park area. Relax in the garden and have a picnic. You cant complain for the price of FREE. Great place for the family!

I took the kids yesterday and we all smiled the whole time. I had only taken them once when they were little, but they still enjoyed it years later. Enjoy the animals, and pack a picnic lunch to eat near the splash pad or at the park. We cant wait to go back on a summer day!
