Ive been playing Southland for round about 15 years. Its had its ups and downs with course conditions. With that said, the last 3-4 years Southland has been doing nothing but improving with the conditions of play. The greens are phenomenal, some of the toughest around and you really cant beat the Fees for an ATL course with greens this nice. Its my go to course as itll make you play your entire bag and the clubhouse guru (Scotty, I think) is always witty and good for a chuckle. This course itself is challenging. The greens are in great shape, the fairways arent bad but you can tell theyve been over-seeding and working on them. The weakest area right now are the tee-boxes and Im sure theyll be working on those...but really how long do you spend on the tee box...unless your Marty Mulligan. My favorite thing here...pace of play, I can fly around this track. I play about 20-30 rounds a year...so take it or leave it. Some golfers might care about this but I dont...there really is no clubhouse with concessions, only one Water cooler on the course which you hit after hole 4 and 11 (so pack wisely), and there is no turn---(you dont see the clubhouse again until 18)...no big deal to me as Im there to golf and not hang out after and lie about my scores. Get in it...go play.

Not a bad course but horribly managed. I have played the course a few times in it is generally in decent shape with slow but well maintained greens. Last time I went to play, the manager decided that I couldnt go out because he wanted to close the course for the day. The weather forecast indicated that rain was coming a few hours later and because the course was not busy, the manager did not want to pay the cart person to stay around. I have played hundreds of golf courses but I have never seen a course close a few hours before the anticipated rain (in the middle of a Friday afternoon). The manager was rude and told me that he had the right to close down the course and there was nothing I could do about it. Apparently he doesnt know about customer service or proper manners and for that reason, I will no longer play here. There are many better golf courses that offer similar value around here to bother with this place.

The service was fine and the course was fine until something out of the ordinary happened. The other part of my two-some had gone early and paid for his portion and when I arrived, he was at the range, they told me he hadnt paid. I then paid for both of us. By the time we noticed the error, because I didnt bring up money with my "friend" until much later, the office was closed. Upon calling the next day, they told me he couldnt help and the manager would be back the next day. Upon calling the next day, the "manager", who was not really a manager (Mr Im), informed me, he had to speak with the other employee. They went so far as to ask me to drive all the way across town to speak with them and with my response, said I should then call back three days later to speak with the " Actual " manager. This is a terrible experience to only involve such a little and simple amount. Never again . .

Horrible experience. The course itself is very nice. However, there are neighborhood kids that come onto the course with their bicycles and start trouble. I had my ball stolen right off the green on hole # 8. When we contacted the course office they seemed to not care and said that the kids are from a neighborhood outside the South Land development and the situation was out of their control. There is no Marshall on the course so nothing is maintained in terms of course traffic. Unless you cant get a tee time anywhere else, I would highly recommend staying away from this course.

I do not like the golf course. I am giving it five stars for all of the wonderful memories I have as a young girl at Greenwood horse farm. Thank you Mr. Greenwood for holding on to this property for as long as you did. A shame that when you passed; your family sold it to the highest bidder.I will never forget all the kids who found great joy because of this land...kids that would never of been able to afford a horse without you....God Bless...and again...thank you

You get what you pay for. The guy working the register was very friendly and quite the comedian. This course is well worth the low rate, especially on the weekend. The tee boxes are descent for the most part. A few are a little rough but you can still find a level patch of grass. The fairways are defiantly the best feature of this course. Greens are actually green but could use a little TLC. Overall this course is very enjoyable for the weekend warrior.

It had no signs. The bathrooms were hideous and dilapidated, mold growing on the door, and nats everywhere. Only 1 or 2 bathrooms on course, no snacks or drinks! Bring your own! The cart path is in need of serious attention. However, the view is amazing, Stone Mountain looks so beautiful. The golf carts are high-powered and can get you places!! It is cheap, so if you bring friends you can have a good time.

The greens were in great condition-- nice job. Very, very slow play. Course management allowed too many golfers on the course. After 4 hours, I had only completed 13 holes and decided to bail out. Fortunately, I only paid $20. They should raise the price and allow fewer golfers on a Friday. The tee boxes were really worn. Interesting course and fun to play. They just need to speed up play.

Played tennis there recently. The courts are excellent and there is a big pavilion to sit under. The people were nice, and they brought nice fresh washed strawberries and grapes plus other goodies! Plan to golf there next - heard good things from a fellow tennis player.

Finished our round at 6pm all staff was gone and clubhouse closed. They didnt care about players still on the course or not. We couldnt wash up, use the restroom or get something cold to drink. This was the worst experience playing golf...EVER. All staff is useless.

The trick to playing well at The Southland is surviving holes 2 - 8. That is one of the hardest stretches of golf you will ever play, especially the 3rd hole. I love the challenge and you cant beat the price! Im a huge fan of The Southland!

The only thing keeping me from rating it higher was the lack of on course amenities. Staff is friendly. Clubhouse has a ton of clubs and other gear at great prices. Most importantly the greens were amazing and its a challenging course.

Great course! Played it 9/24/2016, greens were true and the course was in great shape. Would have given 5 stars but some of the bunkers could use a little work. Has to be one of the best values in Atlanta.

Piece of crap course! Rude staff, not marked well at all, no service. Dont know why its still open; go to Mystery Valley or Stone Mountain if you want a real course to play. Rip off of highest magnitude.
