I found this place googling jazz spots in atl b/c my husband loves jazz and live music. I had to call to find out who the artist was Ryamond James b/c there is nothing on line about him at all which made me nervous paying 20 each. I suggest a link or something on line to let people know who the person is. Their website was easy to navigate but they didnt respond to my email so I called. The front door staff was welcoming. We paid at the door 20 each and requested seating on the floor seating. Show started at 9 we arrived at 8:20. Despite being given an up top balcony seating ticket after paying they accommodated my request to sit on the floor with no issue. I read in past reviews food service was slow so we order drinks as soon as the waitress came over. She was nice and our drinks came to us within ten mins. When she returned we ordered food only then were we told they were out of fried chicken but the doors opened at 7 which was odd. Also, wasnt told water was only bottled at 3 bucks until it came to the table. I read about the water issue on line before so I wasnt shocked. The waitress should have said it right as we ordered water though so we knew before she brought it. The water cap was not sealed as if it has been opened and refilled with tap water becuase that is what it tasted like. The food took a long 35 mins but was fresh once it came. I had to ask the waitress about the food and sje told me the table in front of us had been waiting an hour for their food and the kitchen was backed up. For me, thats not ok. The Mac and cheese was good and the BBQ wings were amazing and fresh. My husband had the jerk salmon which was tasty but had no signs of jerk although flavorful not a hint of spice at all. The mixed veggies is nothing but cabbage and tomatoes which to me isnt mixed veggies but it was flavored well. Seating is too close so not much room to move around or for wait staff to get in between the tables. The bathrooms are clean and decorated nicely. Overall we had a great time and Raymond James sang his butt off. The band seems like they need to practice together more but pulled it together better once Raymond James came on stage. The show started about ten mins late which is normal by my standard. The vocalist however, took too many breaks and so did the band after only playing for 30 Mins. The music played on break was cool but needed more variety. We can only hear so much jagged edge, next and jahiem. We will definitely return! Great ambiance and nice older crowd but not too old Id say 30-40s.

I took my husband there for his birthday this past weekend. The ambiance was beautiful, the singer and musicians were amazing but the food was HORRIBLE. First of all, most of the items on the menu were not available - there were three entrees to choose from and only one was available. This was just about 9:45 PM. The show started at 9 PM. Not even wings were available from the finger food menu and the venue was no where near being sold out, in which case it would have been understandable. That being said, I ordered the lamb chops with mixed vegetables and mac and cheese. When my food arrived (in a reasonable time) it was cold, my mixed vegetable happened to steamed broccoli, there was no cheese in the macaroni and as for the lamb chop----well lets just leave it right there. I called to my servers attention the fact that the food was cold to which she responded that I had it sitting there for a while. The time that elapsed between her putting the food on the table and me bringing it to her attention was no more that three minutes (it took about that time to get her attention). I politely asked her to take it back. I had high hopes for this venue and it does have potential. The previous establishment at this location "Amnesia" started off great - good food, great ambiance, great idea, poor execution. I hope St. James Live survives. I will visit again but I most definitely will not touch the food.

This jazz venue is by far one of the premier establishments in the city of Atlanta! The entertainment is wonderful, the food is great, and the staff and ownership, well their just awesome! The problem however is, some individuals who visit this establishment, see how nice it is, and try to take advantage of a black owned business. Ive seen people complain about trivial things that have no merit, nor no reason to pay attention too! Ive visited many venues around the city of Atlanta far less nicer; the smell was bad, with horrible food and no service; and yet, people dont complain. Nevertheless at St. James, if something goes wrong, they bend over backwards to fix the problem! For a relatively new business, St. James Live from what Ive seen when there, is very clean, beautiful decor, great ambiance, great stage, great sound, they work very hard to accommodate customers, they provide great service, and awesome entertainment! Theyre not a restaurant, but they serve food, I get that! Theyre a jazz and entertainment venue that happens to serve food, and they do a great job in my opinion!!! I would definitely recommend people to patronize this black owned establishment. All haters and those who try to get something for nothing, please go somewhere else and cause problems there!

Music would be nice if the audio wasnt so horrible... $25 per person to not be able to cleary hear the singer because the tech is setup for a dj at a nightclub, not live music. Food service was HORRIBLE!! was seated... 30 minutes later someone said theyd be right back to get our drink orders...10 minutes go by, nothing... hostess comes over to ask if weve been helped, we say no and she takes our drink and dinner orders. 20 minutes go by...nothing... after being seated over an hour with no drinks we ask for the manger. Manager comes 10 minutes later and acts as though she has no time...very short but says our orders will be on the house. Takes the orders... drinks finally show up about 10 minutes later at which point the waitress tells us they are out of the entree both us ordered and the sides . We change our orders, food comes abut 25 minutes later, but only one appetizer and one entree with the wrong sides. My husband has finished eating his food and my entree still hasnt come... OVER AN HOUR AND A HALF AFTER ORDERING!! I guess we could always go to the waffle house when we leave...maybe Ill be able to eat something at some point tonight ... going on 11pm now...well see

Let me start by saying my salmon and cocktails were good and the lady on the flute was top notch. I really like the decor and vibe was nice. Could be a great place. I had heard such great things about St James... Unfortunately not a good experience for me. Took 25 min for a server to come by,i had to ask the hostess to get one, then they didnt have the appetizer we wanted (its out), then they didnt have the wine (its out) , we had to ask for water 3 times and then it came in a bottle? Im cool with regular water bit they wont give it to you... Lol. Then the Salad was wrong so we sent it back...we didnt get the salad till 1040 and the show was on last song.... I will say at least they comped the salad. Now to jazz... Main act was OK, really they could have just played a CD cause he just played the piano and was OK at best. If it wasnt for the awesome flutist... I mean awesome... She really saved him over and over with her solos... At $70 for 2 tickets... Should be a better show. I just cant justify the cost in any way Im sorry to say. I really wanted this to be great, but it wasnt at all.
