We just attended the Selena Gomez concert June 9, 2016 for my daughters (up-n-coming)13th. I brought 5 females, 1 adult and 4 tweens plus a supply of earplugs; not kidding. Ive been to Philips Arena before for sporting events but this was my 1st concert there. Like my other experiences, I was happy by the experience minus a few slight issues (one big gripe below). With concerts, the peddlers come out, from selling scalped tickets, peddling shirts/snacks, to panhandlers...its easy pickings, I get it. Besides those annoyances, the area is clean, plenty of police staffing the event. Getting there isnt complicated but once off the highway, Atlantas downtown roads are in poor shape plus narrow. The lights are not timed well so patience is needed. After the concert...typical issues but the police alleviated many issues to get the traffic flowing - Nice Job ATLs Blue! I too have taken the rail but Atlantas rail is not like NYC, Chicago or Europe, its not even reliable (in my opinion) therefore I drove. Parking. Thats your call. I opted for easy and easy in ANY city equals more money. I parked across the street and paid $20 for the convenience. Whats nice about event parking is you pay as you go in, so when its time to leave the line is nil. As other Yelpers have pointed out, the physical layout where Philips arena makes the event enjoyable. Its connected to the CNN Studios and giant food court area, multiple bathrooms, and even the Omni Hotel if youd rather not drive. Also, if you decide on dinner or even a few pints, McCormick & Schmicks (NW) and Hudson Grille (SW) are on the corner of Marietta & Centennial. If you want an incredible, authentic German meal, Der Biergarten is a short walk up/north on Marietta (read my review). Entry. Two of the tweens with me brought (cheap) binoculars. They were not allowed in the venue so we had to check them in with security. This became an issue as after the show, you can not access security unless you go the farthermost walk around possible, inside the arena, going against the peoples path trying to exit - with 5 people in tow? I conceded. Not happening tonight. Security...give the binoculars to your kids. Youre welcome. Staff. Overall the staffing was good, professional, and doing a great job managing the chaos. Our seats. As we checked in, we were told to see a counter up an escalator. We had 300 series seats but apparently this concert wasnt even close to being sold out. We were given seats in the 100 section, WOW...Bonus for Dad! It was nice. Seats were comfortable for a stadium. Bathrooms not a far walk. Food a plenty. Full service bars everywhere. As for the 300 seating area, they draped the upper sections to make the arena look full. Fine with me. I paid for cheap seats and instead we got great seats. One big gripe. I bought a water for each of us and 16oz bottle was $5.50 each. Not kidding. I spent $33.00 on 6 waters. I dont want to sound like my father but COME ON! $33.00 for water? I really want to use expletives here about the marking up, yada-yada, but will refrain. Selena had 2 warm-up bands. Bea Miller. She played 4 sets/15 minutes. DNCE played for 30 minutes. Apparently they couldnt afford the "A" in the word dance which I overheard many tweens "not getting the lack of the A"...even my tweens. I agree. Selenas performance was very good. She doesnt dance "with" the choreographed dancers and their sets, rather floats in front of them. I was expecting her to be involved with the dancing 100% like Madonna or Brittany, not the case, not bad, just not what I was expecting. Otherwise she was good, sounded crisp, and put a lot of emotion and soul into her songs. This music isnt my thing but for being a chaperone for the evening, it was fine for this old dude. As for my ear plugs...Wonderful! 5-Stars. Ha! Overall. Well go back to Philips Arena as my girls will want to see more concerts.

Attended a Hawks game. The seats were comfortable, if a bit narrow. Wide variety of adult & traditional refreshments available at typical arena prices - no bargains, but didnt leave me feeling violated either. Not too violated, anyway. The announcer, DJ, cheerleaders, & other acts / stunts were entertaining and did a good job of energizing a less-than-full house on a weeknight in a non-conference game. Plenty of nearby pre-game dining options helped get things started, and proximity to CNN center meant I was able to walk to the arena indoors from the restaurant, which was welcome give that rain was in the forecast. A ticket SNAFU with the box office was quickly rectified days before the game, but a staffer met us at our seats at halftime, apologized for the indecent, and even offered us free Hawks tee shirts in compensation - very professional and a step beyond what was expected. Well played, Atlanta Hawks & Philips Arena.

Ive been to Philips Arena several times. It is a great place to watch the game and host corporate meetings and events. The suites offer a great place to view the game and hang out with friends or network. I believe they also offer the opportunity to have meetings at the arena while the teams practice, which is pretty impressive to clients. Update: I went to the sold out Kevin Hart show at Philips arena. I got the tickets from a friend and they were way up in the balcony. Its true that there is really not a bad seat in Philips Arena. However, if you trying to watch the monitors in the middle of the arena, they are a little grainy. I think its time for Philips Arena to switch to HD!

I think Phillips Arena is the best Arena, because I can honestly say there is not a bad seat in the house! I have been in the front row for the final four, in a suite for a regular season game, and experienced the playoffs in the bloody nose section and I have to say I was able to see great from each level. The customer service is great and there are tunes of sections of fun activities for fans to get excited! I always have a blast when I come for a game, concert, or event! Tip: The prices for food can be a bit expensive, so I would tell you to check out the CNN center food court to save a few bucks!
