We stayed at the Emory Hotel last year for New Years and had SUCH a wonderful experience we thought wed stay here again. What a mistake. We booked the hotel from Friday the 30th through Monday the 2nd. Our flight was overbooked and I was offered 2 options by the airline: arrive in Atlanta at 1am Friday morning or Friday 9pm. Before I made my decision, I called the hotel to make sure early check in was okay because I dont want to arrive at 9pm and waste the whole day and even more so, I didnt want to arrive early and be charged for a full night. When I called, I spoke with Natalia. I specifically stated to her, I will be arriving at 2 am, will an early check in be possible? She said, no problem, she would put a note in the computer and all will be fine. SO, when we arrived at 1:30am as scheduled and discussed, I was told I was going to be charged for a full night. This is a verbal policy apparently because it is listed NO WHERE. Not on their site, not at the front desk, not on our confirmation.... no where. The clerk says to me, he cant waive the charge, however, if I come back in the morning and speak to Dandra, the manager, she can take care of the charge for me. I came back in the morning and Dandra says she cant waive it but failed to show me the policy in black and white..... because it doesnt exist. D Andra gives me the number to a Jack Brunson whom is the "Director of Rooms" here at the Emory and tells me her is her boss and to call him. I called him at 11am and left a message to call me back. I called again at noon, 1:30, 2:15, 4:23 and 5:09 when I was told he has gone home for the evening and will return on Monday after new years. So about 10 minutes ago at 8:24pm, I get a call from the front desk from the night manager. He said Jack told him to call me to address the problem. The night manager tells me they are going to stick to this non-existing policy and go forward with charging me for the night. He apologized and tried to sympathize with me, but I was told I could check in early and no mention of charges were made. If I knew I was going to be charged, I would have taken the later flight.... no big deal. Now, its a big deal. I just got off the phone with Discover Card. I will NOT be paying for this night and we will be leaving this place TONIGHT and staying somewhere else. I can not believe they would do this to a repeat customer. And FYI, if you do plan on staying here, make sure you ask for a room in the "NEW" wing of the hotel as the older rooms are smaller and musty. Here is the "fine print" directly from their website. I stayed at the Emory Hotel one night while grandson endured cancer surgery at Egelston Childrens Hospital. For $200, the three of us (an uncle and great grandma included) were completely disappointed with several different main features. First came the parking inconvenience in relation to the room location. With parking underground, an elevator takes you to the lobby floor. From there, unless your room is on lobby level, you walk to the opposite end of the hotel to another elevator to access upstairs rooms (theres a smell of dinginess or mold in the air). Our room happened to be at the very end of an extremely long corridor, quite a distance from the elevator to the lobby. The first light inside the room is so dim we found ourselves squinting to find a real light. Next, Food. We waited almost 40 minutes for soup, hamburger, fries, salad and veggies that were not that great. If busy, the wait could be more understandable, but given we were the only ones in the place, outside of a drunk group of 10 just drinking, there was no excuse. Now, the Room. There were greasy bottles of scented body oil & clothes tag trash under the chairs that we moved around for comfort, one of the beds crackled from the mattress plastic cover, but was comfy enough, the shower head didnt flow well and was not adjustable and the bath exhaust vent didnt work. The coffee was a cheap maker that made 2 tiny cups and there was no continental breakfast. Last but not least, the bill. I paid with my credit card and received paid receipt showing 0 balance. Upon check of my account online, an additional $20.32 was charged that was not on my receipt. When I called for information, I was told it was an incidental fee that would go away within 2-3 days. Ridiculous. On a positive note, it has a great fireplace in the lobby and wide open spaces for large parties. Personally, I will not recommend this hotel to anyone. Take care.

My best advice for your peace of mind: avoid this place. For a green hotel we were surprised to see that our rooms lights were left on all day long after the cleaning lady came in the morning. We were also quite shocked to realize that this supposed upscale hotel had no internet connection in our room. Also at the end of our stay we realized that this hotel offered a free shuttle, but simply forgot to let us know about it when we ask for the best way to go to Emory University by bus or taxi during our five day conference. We were quite upset at the fact that the room were note quiet at night because of loud parties taking place next to our room and because of a fire alarm that rang at 3:30 in the morning and obliged us to go out of bed, get dressed and go outside the building. Finally we were sincerely unhappy about the reception staff that were not helpful or pro-active to help us feel truly at home, or to simply make our stay worry less. To avoid any headache, and because this place is much more cheap than green, my best advice for you is to not go there, it is absolutely not worth it, and a waste of your money. Go somewhere where the hotel is more genuinely focus on making your stay and trip easier and not more complicated and expensive. Not worth the price and not worth the trouble. The green component of this place is a marketing way to attract clients, but it is in reality very cheap with its clients and not well-intentioned. Make a smart decision, pick up another place to make your trip a better memory and a truly relaxing experience.

Worst hotel experience ever! We made this reservation specifically explaining that we needed a "fresh air" room with a balcony that we could open and one (1) king sized bed. We explained that we would be arriving late, because we were hosting the wedding of our daughter. When we arrived, there were two such rooms unoccupied, but neither was cleaned or ready and your staff refused to do anything to clean them. When we arrived at 12:30 am, exactly as we had told you, your front desk first kept us waiting over 30 minutes because they could not figure out the status of their available rooms, and then they could only offer a double bed room, with sealed windows, that smelled of cleaning chemicals and human body odor (as if someone had been conducting gym classes in that room). We offered to wait while they cleaned the two king sized balcony rooms, but was told by your night staff, with at least 4 different people working, that none of those people could help because they were not part of the cleaning crew and there was no night cleaning crew. So we were turned away at 2 am! No room, no apology, no help, nothing, with your crew just standing around smiling and offering a free breakfast and a parking pass, neither of which were any help at all, since the room we had reserved, AND PRE-PAID IN FULL, was not available and no one could clean the two rooms that were available.
