Background: Left handed 7 handicap Pros: Great layout, Great Price Cons: Grass is not present in some locations off the fairway, near the cart path, and on some tee boxes. Some greens are a little patchy. This course has a great layout with many changes in elevation. The change in elevation provides an aid on some holes and challenges on others. My favorite holes were the par 3 9th and the par 4 17th. The change in elevation creates a great back drop to watch your ball fall almost 75 feet down hill. The par 3 9th is further than 200 yards from the back tee. I was able to easily reach the green with a 5 iron. (normal distance 175). The green is medium size and does require accuracy. Do not be short of the green. The result will be a 20 ft uphill challenging chip shot. The par 4 17th tee is next to the 9th tee. The distance from the back tee is 260 yards. If you are short of 260 yards, your ball will roll back to around 100-125 yards. The second shot will be directly uphill about 30 ft. The best play is to hit the ball past the green if possible. The area past the green is more level and will be an easier second shot. The employees are polite and respectful. I was able to walk 18 holes in 3 hrs on a weekday. This golf course is very open and allows error off the tee on most holes.

Alfred "Tup" Holmes is the worst golf course Ive ever played. On my last outing there (July 2, 2016), which was no different than my first in 2014, the course was in horrible shape. One bright note: Andreas customer service delivery was excellent; she listened to my complaint and took an appropriate action (she provided a rain check to play free of charge at Browns Mill between now and July 18). Hats off to her! On the other hand, Browns Mill is barely better than Tup when it comes to course conditions. At Tup, there were no discernible fairways; only a hodgpodge of weeds and hardpan. On one of the hottest days of the season, two water coolers! Sand dumped in the fairways, but none in the actual bunkers. The worst offense were the horrific tee boxes (see photo; 9 and 17 were the worst). I cant imagine ever playing there again. As a tribute to a man responsible for desegrating golf courses in Atlanta, this is the ultimate disservice to his memory. ZERO STARS for the course. FIVE STARS to Andrea for doing her best to promote the Players Club when at least one of the courses in that package is awful and another simply suspect.

Cheap is what you pay for. We paid $23 to tee off on Sunday at 12:00pm for out scheduled 11:15am tee time. They were so backed up that it was ridiculous. Regardless, things like these happen at golf courses so I will not hold it against them. Unfortunately, I will hold the non grass tee boxes against them. Nearly all of the greens were in awful condition. The fairways consisted of dirt with few patches of grass. The course is tremendously difficult to play because youre playing off of dirt the entire time. I had 5 fairway splitting drives where I couldnt find my ball because of the poor conditions of the course. Overall, if youre looking for a cheap course in the Atlanta area, stick with North Fulton of Bobby Jones. Alfred Tup Holmes will only leave you dissatisfied with a sour taste in your mouth. PS: What kind of nickname is Tup"...???

6/19/2010 - Had a Saturday morning 9:30 tee time....showed up at 9:15 to discover that half the carts were being serviced and none were available for me and my friend. Clubhouse told us it would be 2 minutes until a cart was available. 20 minutes later, we were told it would be 10 more minutes. 20 minutes later, we were told another 20 minutes. After an hour of BS, we requested a refund and had to wait 10 minutes for them to figure out how to refund a credit card. We were never offered anything to make up for the problem. On the positive side, the course looked great for a public course. Bottom line....Management needs to be replaced and you should call ahead to ensure timing.

I played twice this week for the first time. Pros: Great layout with plenty of blind shots. Holes 9 and 17 are intimating where you hit over a 100 deep valley to the greens. The wooded areas are ever present, where you can lose plenty of balls. Cons: The FAIRWAYS need more grass, too much dirt. The grass that exists in FAIRWAYS needs to be cut, so that you can find your ball. The GREENS are rough and worn and need some TLC. OVERALL, I rate the golf course 6 of 10. I hope they step-up and address these issues, because I want to continue to play there. Vince

This course has not been maintained well at all. Fairways are hard and dry and dont allow tee shots to run. There is no driving range so you cant even warm up before a round. Also, there is no regard for the upkeep of the course by the people playing. People drove the golf carts all over the fairways and ruffs. I wouldnt recommend this course at all. There are much better and cheaper courses out there.

A good example of terrible upkeep of a golf course you would not want to see. Fairways are terrible more like playing in a pasture. makes one wonder if the golf supervisor really cares or if they have anyone supervising the maintenance. I played this course 8/20/16 not looking forward to returning. replace the staff responsible for upkeep

Worked out perfectly for me. The greens were fabulous. The fairways could use some improvements. Not far from the airport. Very nice and professional staff. They even recommended a great breakfast place to me. And the price was very affordable.

The price is right, the course is adequately challenging, that being said maintenance is sadly lacking, the facility needs seeding and watering badly.

Didnt enjoy this place at all. The grass on the greens was about as long as a normal fairway. Will not be returning.
