We have been three times now; I am only sorry that we have moved far enough away not to go on a regular basis. Mark & his staff do an incredible job. This place is not huge, but you get very individual attention with very small groups for each tour. You stop at each display & the staff tells you the whole story behind each animal. You are kept at a safe distance behind ropes, but within a few feet of each cage; so you can see each animal very well. To look into their eyes is an awesome experience! You are not allowed to walk around by yourself & must follow the guide, but they give plenty of time and allow you to ask questions. They are extremely respectful to the animals & it obvious they are well cared for. This place is a true labor of love for the employees & it shows. They take in injured animals to rehabilitate them to try to release them back into the wild if possible. We were extremely lucky to see the white tigers cubs when they were just a few weeks old for a once in a lifetime experience! Make sure you have good directions first & there is a short dirt road, but worth the trip.

McCarthys is a fantastic wildlife sanctuary! Mark McCarthy and his staff are knowledgeable about all subject matter; engaging throughout the tours and incredibly caring with each and every one of the animals. It is inspiring to see an organization dedicated not only to the rehabilitation of local, native wildlife, but also the rescue of exotic species and specialized enough to be able to breed enganged species. The cleanliness and overall excellent conditions for all of the animals was wonderful to see. Our time at McCarthys was both inspiring and entertaining. I would highly recommend not only visiting the sanctuary but considering checking out their Wish List and bringing along some gifts to help care for the animals when you go. Supporting the incredible work being done there is so important and the kids get a kick out of being able to bring the animals presents!

Our visit to the McCarthys Wildlife Sanctuary was amazing! Our tour guide Kat, did a wonderful job; she was enthusiastic and could answer all of our questions. The big cats were beautiful, and Kat gave the tigers treats up high (making the tigers stand up right), so everyone could see just how enormous these majestic creatures are. The McCarthys are doing such a great service to their rescue animals, most of the animals would have been left to horrible fates if the McCarthys hadnt opened their hearts (and wallets) to take these creatures under their own care. Kat assured us on our trip that every animal was spoiled there, as in given great care and love from their human admirers. Consequently, your admission is not only for great entertainment, but also to keep the animals well fed and cared for.

I dont know what facility Laura Donegan went to, but theres no way it could have been McCarthys. Ive never seen such a clean, well kept sanctuary in my life. The animals were in excellent shape - I cant imagine how she thinks they seemed bored and hungry. Anyone with who has been here and has 2 good eyes in their head can see that her review was either for some other facility and she got the name wrong or done with some unknown malicious intent to harm the wonderful reputation and work done by the people who run and work at McCarthys, although why someone would want to risk help getting to animals that need it is beyond me. Keep up the great work and I plan to visit next time I come home to Florida.

Excellent!

Wonderful experience! My boyfriend and I loved it! The grounds and animals are extremely well kept, our tour guide Sam was super friendly and very knowledgeable, and since their tour groups dont exceed 25ppl you dont have to worry that the place will be packed. Having a guided tour was particularly great because the animals are comfortable with the handlers/guides so they were all very lively and came around to the attention. I would recommend this to anyone over the palm beach zoo or lion country, you get better (and much more!) up close interactions and knowledge about the wildlife and for a better price. We even got to play with their tiger cub!!!

McCarthys was an amazing find right here in our own backyard. This is the most professional and caring for their animals sanctuary I have been to in a long time. For being rescue animals they do not seem stressed , they are well fedand much happier then where they came from. They go to great lenghts to protect them from the humans who visit as well as protect the humans. This is a great outing for the family in the appropriate age range. Remember its not the local zoo where you can allow young children to run free, screaming and unsupervised. Thank you McCarthys for sharing your world with us.

We visited in early March and had Kara as our tour guide. She took her time and was very knowledgeable about each animal we visited. This was the cleanest and most well kept animal sanctuary I ever visited. All of the animals seem relaxed and at peace with their surroundings. I believe from all the LOVE they are given from the staff. This is a nice place to visit with young children as it is not too large and they will learn a lot and get to touch some of the animals..turtles, kinkajou. If you are visiting the West Palm area and are an animal lover I would recommend a stop at this sanctuary.

I loved it! The tour guide Brie was amazing. She explained everything well and took her time with each animal. As we walked through the park she told us the story of how each animal came to the sanctuary and that shes happy to have them whether it is temporary until they are released into the wild or becoming a permanent resident. She also mentioned how she interacted with each animal on a routinely basis and she was working on developing stronger bonds with certain animals. She also went one by one making sure everyone had a turn to see, touch or hold the animals.

Absolutely fantastic! Have you ever gone to a zoo and thought "Man. I would love to pet that thing." WELL HERE YOU CAN! McCarthys has been around for over 30 years rehabilitating and saving exotic wildlife. They provide tours and encourage interaction with the animals. The entrance fee might feel a little steep; but it is also a donation to allow them to continue to provide a home for every aviary, feline, and reptile there. Well worth every cent. Brie was our tour guide. She was positive, articulate, and knowledgeable. Instant favorite. LOVE HER.

I think this is the first time I have ever taken the time to write a google review. I absolutely love animals and most zoos break my heart- I hate to see animals caged. But McCarthys was wonderful. They are rescuing animals and giving them the best possible life. Our tour guide, Kara, new each animal. Clearly, each animal is a beloved member of the family. The facility is very well maintained and very clean. The animals seemed relaxed and happy. I look forward to going back.
