Despite my initial interest in dining at Le Zoo, it took me a while to visit; the restaurant only takes reservations for parties of six or more. Thankfully, when I happened to be nearby on a Friday night, I took a chance and was seated right away. Along with Buddakan, Morimoto, Makoto, Steak 954, and Continental -to name a few- Le Zoo joins the Starr Restaurant group. This French brassiere is located inside the Bal Harbour Shops. Offering both indoor and outdoor seating, I was lucky to dine during one of Miamis five "winter" days. Needless to say, sitting outside on the large terrace was extremely pleasant. Did I mention theres also people-watching for days? HIT The salty, delicate, and decadent Foie Gras Terrine accompanied with confit kumquats and a dreamy brioche kicked off dinner. Hows that for a delightful starter? I also enjoyed the classic and flavorful Steak Tartare du Parc (hand-chopped steak, capers, quail egg). Anytime I can end dinner on a high sweet note, I am one happy diner. The Vanilla Bean Creme Brûlée, Milk Chocolate Pot de Creme, and a scoop of Sunkist Sorbet? Hit, hit, hit. Simple. Nothing crazy, but done just right. All of that was for a party of two. No judging. Since apparently I still needed more sweets, I ventured out to try the Vietnamese Coffee. Its not something I expected to find on the menu, but so glad I did. Even with the added condensed milk, it wasnt overly sweet. MISS 1. The Bouillabaisse, as served, could have been hotter. I wish the dish incorporated meatier fish. Maybe its just me, but it seemed a little skimpy. 2. The outside tables were very close to one another. I could have easily reached out and touched someone, had I wanted to. The Steak Frites ordered by the diners next to me tempted me, but I kept my hands to myself. 3. The Vanilla Bean Creme Brûlée brings a warm madeleine on the side. Asking for an additional one meant I was charged $2 more. As a reference, I can tell you Ive never once been charged a single dollar for any additional ones at DB Bistro Moderne (aka home of my favorite madeleines). Is $2 a big deal? Not really. It just bothers me more on principle. Its not like I didnt already spend a pretty penny with all we ordered (and a corkage fee). Is it really necessary to charge more for one side cookie? In case you are wondering, yes, at least it was a good one! OVERALL On the list of things to try next time: the Seafood Tower, King Crab Angel Hair, Trout Amandine, and the Duck Confit. The beer menu also has some gems on it I dont often see elsewhere (including a favorite: Saison Dupont-Farmhouse Ale). Overall, Le Zoo was a hit and a welcomed addition to the area. Im a fan!

I went there for the first time and if I could rate 0 star I would do so for this restaurant. The Grill and Makoto Bal Habour were full. So I decided to try the Zoo where there were only few tables that were occupied. Few servers saw me waiting but nobody bothered to make eye contact or acknowledge. Finally there was a waitress who told us she would arrange the table. She went to serve another table and forgot. I walked inside and one server told me we could sit anywhere. The food was salty and terrible. We left the whole plate because it was not edible. The server did not even come once to ask how our food was. We decided to order desserts and after 30 mins with numerous reminders we gave up. When we asked for the bill the desserts came. It took 30 mins to get two scoops of ice cream...It was the worst experience Ive ever had in Miami.

Stephen Starr has been opening Miami restaurants at rapid-fire pace, and one of our favorites by far is the sunny, colorfully decorated Le Zoo in Bal Harbour. Theres a lovely French-inspired menu, but we come for the gorgeous (and beautifully designed) drink list, which includes carefully selected wine and beer, plus a few tasteful, straightforward cocktails. Its the perfect place to stop in for a glass of wine or an Aperol spritz to break up a day of window shopping at Bal Harbours pristine boutiques.

Le Zoo is a classic example of the French gastronomic diversity, mixing the classic bistro with the culinary variety of the Mediterranean region. Located at the Bar Harbour Shops in Miami, Le Zoo is one of Stephen Starr’s (famous Restaurateur) restaurants; its decor boasting a verdant and pleasant terrace calls the Parisian cafés to mind, while its exquisite cuisine, as well as its painstaking service, turn this brasserie into a place you must come back to.

Arrived a few minutes past our reservation but it was no problem. The hostess was very courteous and made sure we seated shortly after arriving. The waiters were very attentive and the food was AWESOME!! I had the roasted chicken and it was cooked to perfection. For dessert we had the Profiterole. I highly recommend this restaurant. I will dine here again.

Mussels were so tough and presented in a soupy butter sauce ( not the French way of wine and shallots) that they were not eatable. The portions were small and prices expensive They glass of wine was a cheap brand and the escargot were just terrible. Nit returning. Good luck trying to make it with the locals.

We went there with a couple of French and Belgian friends, we all ordered different dishes, starters and main courses and we were all delighted by the quality of the food and the service. The Fish dishes are just great there. As appetizer I recommend their Vitello Tonato. Price is high but worth it.
