Short review: Put in a room next to a room undergoing construction and lied to about the dates and times it would be going on. Also had water cut to our room with someone in the shower and were told "we were going to tell you" and only remedy "we can move you to another room to finish the shower". Never bringing my family back here again. Long (better) review: Booked a 5 night stay with my husband and 3 year old son. Did not got as planned. Checked in on a Thursday night with minimal problems (the door to the fridge was broken and the seal was corroded and falling off), but the woman who checked us in was super sweet and explained everything. Friday is when the problems started. Heard loud noises in the room next to use starting at about 8:30 am. We went to the beach and pool during the morning and planned on coming back to the room around 1:30 for a nap since we would be taking the toddler to a late hockey game. Well no rest for the weary as there was high pitched sawing, drilling, and banging on the walls to the point the walls shook. After trying to nap for about 2 hours I went down to the front desk to ask if the construction in the room next to us would be going on during the weekend. I was told "On Saturday they will be there from 10 until the afternoon and Sunday they would not be there". When I asked what "afternoon" meant, they couldnt say. When I asked for an option to deal with a toddler who needed a nap (i.e. a new room) they said "maybe we could ask the crew to stop working between 2 and 4" and "they would call me in the morning to let me know". Construction was loud and obnoxious from about 9 am on Saturday until around 6 pm; to the point where being in the room gave us headaches. They also put wet pain signs up just outside our door effectively barring us from the stairs and elevator that was directly across from our room. Guess what happened on Sunday? The construction crew was there even though I was told they were not going to be. This time they were not as loud as Saturday but I was promised they wouldnt be there at all. Monday was the worse day by far. Construction crew showed up at 8:30 am and began sawing. We opted to be out at the beach because we had to leave around noon to visit a sick relative an hour away. Came back at 11 to take showers. My husband and 3 year old were in the shower with soap in their hair when the water cut out. I called the front desk and was told "yes the water is out to that building and we were calling people to let them know". You need to call people or leave a note on their door before you cut the freaking water!!!!! I was livid on the phone with the front desk and complained about the construction again. They said they would call me back. When they did, there way of dealing with people IN THE MIDDLE of taking a shower was to move them to a different room to finish. Seriously?!? They are naked and covered in soap! After I said that was ridiculous and we would not be doing that they said they didnt know what else to do and would offer us a new room to stay in for Monday night because of the construction. We were leaving Tuesday morning. We took the offer because I wanted to have one freaking morning of quiet in our room. Moral of the story: front desk/manager who lies (had another problem with trying to get beach towels and lying), no offer of compensation or discount, and not really kid friendly. Honestly, if they had been upfront at check in and told us we were next to a room under going construction and offered us a discount then I would have been much more understanding. There a few other minor things wrong with this place but I dont think you need to read any more.

The Bilmar is a great affordable hotel on the beach. The appearance does appear to be a bit 60s but everything is clean and fresh. I came off season, so at one point we did notice them repainting, which of course is to be expected off season, but the area did not appear that outdated so I believe it just goes to show that they keep up on their appearance. The rooms do appear to be a bit small but honestly a great value for the dollar. They come with a nice little kitchen, with dishes, a clean bathroom and comfortable bed. The kitchen had a very nice bar like area with stools to eat at. Over all the room was a bit small but extremely clean and comfortable to be in. The pool area was very nice, with a hot tub. The only things I disliked about it was the fact we had to sign for our beach towels at the desk and the timer for the hot tub that looks like it was ripped out of a bathroom and shoved on an old 2x4. I understand that it could stink seeing your towels disappear but honestly they should work out a better way to do it. The switch just needed to be updated bad. One nice thing was the child locks on the fence around the pool. Its good to know that if I come back with my kids, the area will be inaccessible for them with out a parent. One of the things I liked most about this area was the nice quiet atmosphere. My wife and I had a first floor room on the beach and we could just relax outside our room. Even when they had their karaoke night, we had our room right next to the bar and the insulation was enough to keep the sound of it out. I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel and would love to stay there again. Its a great place for the value.

Traveled 4/30/2015 - 5/3/2015 Ladies Weekend!!!!! Hotel is very dated. Rooms were clean BUT there was a HUGE red stain on the carpet Room 208. GROSS!!! The food from the restaurant we very tasty. Not to pricey. Came out cold the one night and took forever to get hot food. The chef that brought the food out was RUDE and seemed annoyed that we wanted a hot meal that night. NOW I am not really a picky person but i was like they just took my ribs out of the fridge. They do not have enough servers so be prepared to wait. That being said, the servers that they do have are very nice and apologetic. Very nice view from room 209. Room 208 has windows that are above the bed and to high to even look out. Beach is right out back BUT is a bit of a walk to the water. We did not mind! Everything closes early and there were not that many young people (27-36yr)!!! Full of people 50-70 yr old. If you are in the younger age range I would go somewhere more "fun" For people coming from out of town... When getting a chair for the beach or towel it is a bit ridiculous. We were traveling with 8 people. 4 to each room as permitted by the resort. BUT when we went to get chairs and towels they would only give them to two people from each room and made the other two pay. CRAZY!!!! We all paid to go on vacation why do you only let half the people at your resort use the amenities. Little things like this I will think to ask before we plan our ladies long weekend next year. OVERALL, was a great trip because I was in great company BUT we will probably look into another resort.
