My family and I used museum passes from the local library for admission. The building is large and beautiful. Kids can really have an adventure here but its up to parents to engage their kids and get them interested in the things theyre seeing. PROS: Room after room of individual interactive activities. From designing and launching paper planes, to a colorful interactive floor-mat that counts steps as the children play on it. The Aquarium is beautiful and serene. The aviary is nice (about small). And you can even go on the roof and use the viewers to look across the waters. The planetarium is state of the art. Also there is a kind of treasure hunt that comes with the museum app that, when completed can be used to get a gift for your child the gift shop. CONS: The building is really open. Good weather days thats fine. But When we went it rained (badly) and there was absolutely no where for us to take shelter for long. There was some indoor attractions on the floor we were on, but they kept herding us out into the rain to allow other people to come in and we had to walk back around and come in again to try and keep dry; (I had an infant with me) and they still wouldnt let me stand in the vestibule area until the weather changed. I HATED how crowded it was.....and I absolutely HATED the fact that everyone had to basically fight for elevators in order to get to each floor. With thousands of school children scurrying about, this is more difficult than it sounds. The planetarium show that we picked (there were two) turned out to be the worst one. I was informed later that one show was significantly better than the other. We picked The Incredible Earth or something like that and people, including my husband, my daughters and I were falling asleep. It was boring. Pack your own lunches. Food is too expensive. The Treasure hunt is awesome.......when it works. Reception is so bad within the rooms of the building that your phones wont be able to actually play the game at all.....disappointing. All in all it wasnt a bad day, but Im glad we didnt pay for admission, or come from a long way. It wouldnt have been worth it AT ALL.

PLEASE DO NOT VISIT THIS MUSEUM. IT IS NOT REALLY A MUSEUM. THEY HAVE 3 SMALL SHOWROOMS, TWO OF THEM ARE JUST PICTURES OF PEOPLE IN POVERTY....NOT TO MENTION THE RACIST STAFF MEMBERS....ME AND MY HUSBAND WERE VISITING MIAMI FOR OUR ANNIVERSARY WEEKEND, AND DECIDED TO VISIT WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS A NICE ART GALLERY. WHEN WE ARRIVED THE YOUNG LADY, GRACE, AT THE FRONT DESK WAS PLEASANT, AND TOLD US WHERE EVERYTHING IN THE FACILITY WAS LOCATED. WE WENT INTO THE FIRST SHOWROOM, AND WERE VIEWING THE ART WHEN WE NOTICED THAT THE SECURITY GUARD WHO WAS DOWN STAIRS WHEN WE FIRST CAME IN WAS NOW UP STAIRS 10 PACES FROM US. WE THEN DECIDED TO WALK INTO ANOTHER SHOWROOM, WHERE WE SAW A COUPLE OF OTHER PEOPLE, BUT SECURITY WAS STILL 10 PACES FROM US. WE IGNORED IT, THINKING THAT IT WAS A COINCIDENCE, AND WENT UP STAIRS. THERE WAS ANOTHER SECURITY OFFICER UP THERE, WHO AS WELL FOLLOWED US INTO THE ROOM. I DECIDED TO ASK HIM WHY WAS HE FOLLOWING US? I EXPLAINED THAT THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE IN THE BUILDING AS WELL, WHO WERE LEFT ALONE TO ENJOY THE ART. HE EXPLAINED TO ME THAT HE WAS DOING HIS JOB. THE BUILDING IS FULL OF CAMERAS, AND I DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHY ME AND MY HUSBAND WERE BEING SINGLED OUT, AND FOLLOWED AROUND THE GALLERY. ON THE WAY OUT, I SPOKE WITH GRACE WHO EXPLAINED TO US THAT THEY WERE JUST DOING THERE JOB, SNOBBISHLY. I EXPLAINED TO HER THAT WE WALKED INTO TWO ROOMS, ONE WITH ONE LADY(WHITE) UNATTENDED, AND THE OTHER WITH A COUPLE(BOTH WHITE), UNATTENDED. HOWEVER, WE WERE THE ONLY PEOPLE BEING FOLLOWED AROUND LIKE CRIMINALS. WE WERE BOTH POLITE, DRESSED NICELY, AND WERE TRYING TO EXPLORE THE CITY. I LEFT THE CAMPUS IN TEARS... I AM BLACK AND MY HUSBAND IS WHITE. I HONESTLY FEEL A VICTIM TO DISCRIMINATION.

My rating is really connected to the fact that this place really lacks having a fair amount of exhibits. Obviously youre not going to get MoMA from this place, but I really do feel like this museum, should really look into revamping their entire process with how they do their exhibitions. I went to this museum, when they were featuring the exhibit of some fashion designer that implemented art into his designs. I will say that it was beautifully placed. But other than that, there was only one other exhibit filled with just photographs of an Asian artist, doing interesting art with hair as their medium. But with that said, we are talking about only TWO exhibits, and this was during the Spring time. So its not like it was in the summer, because I would imagine that since it is located in a College campus, that they put less effort during the summer time. Regards of that fact, I really do believe that a museum needs to work towards always elevating themselves. That is what always brings people back to MoMA. This museum is literally located at FIU. A University that prides itself in "Being World Ahead". So do us a favor and achieve that, especially with more than just one or two exhibits. I have high expectations, because who are we if we cant challenge ourselves to always improving our work?!

Drove down from Palm Beach County to see this alleged powerhouse of a museum. Complete disappointment. The parking for the museum was full so we had to find a lot close by that services the Adrienne Arsht center. Not a crisis. What should have tipped me off that this experience was going to be a huge letdown was the entrance up to the museum. As a pedestrian entering from Biscayne you are walking up an unfinished driveway where the drop-off area is. I gathered that the pedestrian entrance is on the south side near Museum Park. Awkward at best. The museum itself was the strangest building Ive ever been in. I cant believe this was built from the ground up. It felt like a retrofitted parking garage turned museum. Nothing about navigating this place is easy. Stairwells lead to nowhere. Theres absolutely ZERO flow through. Ticket prices arent cheap and I can honestly say the best part of this museum had nothing to do with the exhibits but everything to do with the views, which were spectacular. Aside from that this place was a complete waste of an afternoon. Side note: Im not entirely certain why reviewers are complaining about the ticket queue. You do realize you can purchase tickets online right? Theres this thing called a smartphone. Its going to be huge....

I dont usually give fours on these reviews but I feel like this particular museum venue has a little ways to go before it turns into an impactful center for learning in Miami. The parking price is high (around 12 bucks for 2 hours for me) but Ill give that a pass because its Miami - parking everywhere is expensive. The rooms and venues are technologically "advanced", yes, with touch screens and swivels and what-not but their wasnt a lot of real SCIENCE being displayed. Trust me this would be good for a middle school field trip maybe but when I went the last 2 floors of the supposedly 6 floor museum was still under construction. That being said it tries its best to provide a tech/science outlet to downtown miami. Probably the best section of this place is either the lightroom or the aquatic section. P.S. I personally went here to take professional pictures so I pretty much covered the whole thing.
