This is a remodel and preservation of an old lighthouse, adjoining living quarters, and Battery complex museum across the street. It is an interesting site and worth a visit. If you plan to climb the lighthouse, you need a strong body. It is a workout for sure. If you succeed, the reward will be a nice view. Inside the buildings, period pieces are displayed. The Battery is an early fort. It also includes numerous displays. Most are military memorabilia and local period presentations. Everything was very clean and the staff was really friendly and ready to help. Not a bad way to spend a few hours if you are already in the area.

Im a lighthouse fanatic. This one is classically beautiful. We were unable to have beach access so knowing that in advance we went later. Gorgeous sunset highlighted the lighthouses beauty. At that time of day theres no public bathroom access and the museum is closed. I remember parking being pricey, over $5 but less then $15. Im sure that part of the island will regain beach access by summer 2017, if it has not already. Theres a bar looked like a local crowd. There are campgrounds that you pass driving in and condos( summer rentals or year round residents I cant say) off to the right. I cant wait to return

Great historical site. Wonderful 15 min video about the lighthouse. Only lighthouse with keepers homes still in existence. Staff is very knowledge and friendly. Just be aware that the last ticket sales are 4:30 but the lighthouse and fort museums close at 5:30. The light house is over 100 steps with no wheelchair access. There are landing platforms for breaks between stair sets and if youre like me, youll greatly appreciate the little breaks! Each one does offer a view outside as you catch your breath. Over all a great experience.

Have gone here twice now ... paid the money, cant remember how much exactly but it wasnt excessive. Went up into the lighthouse, which was the highlight. Worth all the steps. Took 6 of my kids up, from 13 to 3 and they all did just fine on the steps. My 10 year old had an issue with the height, but everyone else loved the view. Then went through the lightkeepers house and the bunker museum. All of it was interesting and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. A must do during your visit.

At $9, this was a great value (parking included). Their gift shop is really nice and has a good selection of local artwork. Going up the lighthouse is definitely worth it. The houses around the lighthouse have been nicely restored, but keep in mind that this place is not a good option if you are in a wheelchair or use a walker. I saw an older lady that could not access all houses. You can also visit the Tybee Museum which gives you a good overview of the islands history.

Was a great experience overall Nice lighthouse. Great gift store service. Great guide in the house - except for the woman at the ticket booth. She was, unfortunately, very rude to us. It was a hot day and we were a little disoriented so we went out the wrong exit. The woman started bursting out scolding and yelling even though there was really no problem and nobody in the line.

They post they close at 530 so we arrive at 430 and they are closed! The guy at gift store said we have been closing at 430 for a while now .. How would the tourists know if its still posted 530 everywhere? Of course this is after we have already paid for parking. Hate that we waisted our time since this was half hour drive from the touristy area.

Tourist trap. There is nothing on Tybee Island except from what nature provided. The ocean. The authorities are trying to get the most out of the tourism with sky high fines for walking on the beach with bottles. There are so many other places you can visit that offer not just the ocean view, but friendly people and many more amenities.

This place is absolutely gorgeous!! The grounds are so pretty! I am so honored and fortunate to have been able to say my vowels here. I highly recommend that many others do the same. Its fairytale. The staff is unbeatable and Vickie was so helpful, patient and warm! Everyone genuinely cared that our visit was the best!! Thank you so much!!

Management was told twice about extensive wasp prescence and the dangers of someone allergic reactions. Said there were signs up about the wasps and I should read sign. Very disinstreted and discouraging since I had my 7 year old grandson up top with no protection for him. Dont care to visit anywhere where they are so rude. Wont be back

The person manning the desk at the Battery Museum was incredibly rude when we went in to ask about the museum. My family was going to purchase tickets, but if youre going to wave bye to us and say "adios" when we ask a question, there is no way we are wasting money or time with you. Thanks for ruining our day!

The Tybee Island LightHouse is a must see on your visit to Tybee Island. Once you get up to the top, you can see for miles. If you are lucky, you might catch a cargo ship coming in to port. There are friendly guides to tell you about the history of the LightHouse and answer any questions you might have.

Our 13 year old, 11 year and 7 year boys loved it! Climbing the lighthouse was the favorite part. History buffs (esp. American history and military history buffs) will find the history of the island in the museums fascinating! My husband and I have been here twice and have loved it both times.

The wait to go up the lighthouse on a fairly slow spring afternoon wasnt bad at all. At only $9, it was a cool thing to do. Be warned though: its complete open air (with a railing) at the top. If you arent a fan of heights, it may not be for you. A few people up there were a little freaked out.

Very nice, had a great lunch at The Crab Shack. Tried the Captains sampler platter. It was great. Wife had half a chicken and it was perfect. We both enjoyed the experience. The atmosphere was great , nice eat in and deck dinning. We had our meal out on the deck, nice breeze and very few bugs.

This is a very old lighthouse and somehow -- you can climb to very near the top and look around. A very cool experience, though the climb, some 178 steps, may tire you out. Climbing down actually seemed harder/scarier for me. The catwalk around the top of the lighthouse is worth the effort.

Beautiful light house. Restored grounds and museum. Great views. Love that they hang a large flag on the side for the 4th. If you didnt know, almost all lighthouses in the southeast are open at the top with railing around. This should be self explanatory due to all pictures depicting this.

I visited the lighthouse and museum with my seven person family. When we saw the prices (~$6/person) we decided a view from the outside was sufficient. The beach is nearby and easily accessible. Parking is paid by the hour (price shown is for one hour) with a two hour minimum (sneaky).
