Nice place to hike, especially deeper in. Starts out open, with nearby toy airport (for model planes, noisy) but deeper in you get away, to lovely Florida nature -- some forest, some meadow and old farm. Wide trails generally good but sometimes sandy. Watch for very occasional hog hunts (notices are posted on web). Large enough to hike all day (and get lost!). Theres a big grid of trails, further out is not always well marked.

There is a lot of diversity in the park. The trails are kept so so but if you trust and keep trekking, you will see of Floridas amazing things. As always bring sunscreen (I do pack an umbrella, not too proud to admit that!). Good place.

My husband and I took a 1.5 hour hike through beautiful grasslands and marsh. We saw 2 armadillos, a raccoon and several bird species. There were additional hikes through woodlands,but well save that for another day.

Park at entrance and take a trail map. Avoid the trails along the perimeter as they have been plowed as fire breaks making walking or biking difficult. We saw wild turkey and several deer as we hiked the trails.

My son and out friends had a hot time walking about the grounds checking out the various wildlife. It is a far cry different from Omaha NE and we made certain to stay out of the water.

Trails are a little overgrown, trail markers are falling over or missing completely. Definitely make sure you grab a trail map at the entrance
