I thought this place was really good at first but a few weeks later I think they really started to show their true colors. I really appreciated the initial advice and enthusiasm in helping me get some other fish other than the tetras I have but soon after one fish died which may or may not have been their fault. Okay thats fine things happen. I was told my nitrites were a bit high so I did do a decent water change and got my water tested again by them and they told me it was perfect. Okay great, except the very next day my angel died, then 6 days later my other gourabi died. I brought both back frozen with a water sample (again water was fine) and the guy told me that they use well water for their fish and that any fish I buy from them will die. (Wish I would have been told that before I spent 30.00 on fish) because of the hardness of their water. So the guy said that I needed to adjust the hardness by buying a buffer (16.00 at that) and that would be the only way i would be able to buy more fish from them. Reallly!? I finally figured it out. Since they use well water and the hardness of it is unique since most people have city water they want you to adjust your water to theirs so that you can only buy fish from there. Clever as a way to get people to waste more money there but not very clever if you want to keep customers who realize what youre doing. Utterly ridiculous. And the only reason theyre not getting 1 star is because they have been friendly the entire time. unless you seriously have made your water exactly to his and only have cichlids dont waste your time here. Plus they have the most expensive prices it seems for common fish such as neon tetras and even gourabis. On top of all that have i not been given an option to have a discount on another fish or anything. They were completely unwilling to work with me on that, but i wont be buying any fish from them again so i guess that doesnt matter much.

I will never shop locally again (NC, Raleigh). This place is awesome! I just received my first order yesterday, and Im nothing but satisfied. The fish are gorgeous, fins are in perfect shape, no sunken bellies, no defects, nothing but beautiful cichlids. The price is fair, the shipping was handled exceptionally, and as a vet student who has been nothing but frustrated buying fish locally, I could not be happier. Billy was great in keeping an open line of communication through the whole process, was very professional, and in todays world his customer service is unmatched. I will continue shopping with these guys for a long time.

Billy and the older heavier set gentleman do not focus on customer service. We came almost 2 hr ride to be to told when we got there that the fishes we wanted were completely out of stock. And every time we kept asking what type of fish where in certain tanks we got an attitude. Came all the way for a albino Taiwan reef he had one in display tank wanted $55 and wouldnt even meet me halfway for a sale when everywhere else the fish sells cheaper. These people dont care theyll just sell you high price fish that are not worth what your paying. Try to stay away and go to other local cichlid farms.

Billy and Gary were great guys! This was my second time coming here and they were completely honest with me even if that meant not making a sale. They have a really good policy on returning dead fish (that wasnt their fault) and I see it as really fair. I was even able to contact Gary after hours and get advice on how to treat a problem I was having in my tank. They are really helpful and honest guys. My only complaint Is theres not enough live plants!

Just got back home from my first visit to Daytona Aquarium having drove the 1 hour + trip from Melbourne. I am quite glad that I made the trip and will be going back there in the future. Tim was very helpful as was the other gentleman (I forgot to ask his name). If youre a cichlid lover like me, you will be impressed with the selection available to you. I found the prices to be reasonable and they treated me right. Thank you Daytona Aquarium!

Ive been in the hobby since 2011 and Daytona Aquarium have the best quality African Cichlids in the business hands down. I make it a point when Im in a city to visit local fish stores to see what they have to offer. They might have one or two really nice fish but you go Daytona Aquarium and its nothing but show quality specimens. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable.

Place is magnificent... If you love cichlids then this is the place to go around this area beautiful selection of fish clean setups, healthy fish, and also very knowledgeable staff working there friendly as well. Btw they also have other types of freshwater fish but i dont look at those :p cichlids always :)

Great place beautiful fish and very knowledgeable I will alway shop here but they dont have any prices on anything so when you ask for a price on something they answer with a huh, umm 40.00 or 60.00 or what ever they feel like saying to you. I feel like they take advantage of people in that situation.

Went and checked out Daytona Aquarium cause I saw their commercial on TV. Cant believe I have never gone there before. Has a really nice selection of fish. Must go and see at least once. He took me out into the greenhouses where they have tons of fish and showed me some really colorful fish.

If you are a fish person, and are passing thru Daytona, STOP HERE. Great folks and great fish. If you want cheap, sickly fish, go to Petsmart. If you want great fish, stop here. Its easy, just off I-95 right on the main drag into Daytona.

Very positive experience both times we went- Also treated my kids question with utmost respect - very healthy stock. they mostly carry Cichlids- just went back for Angels - very good food product. Will definitely return

Gary uses the bait and switch. He shows me nice fish then puts sickly fish in my bag half with one eye and always trys to give me the opposite sex of the one I really want watch closely what you end up with before leaving.
