This is a very challenging course. Id play the front nine again for a relaxing quick outing. Though the tee boxes and greens were in rough shape, the front nine are playable and a beautiful setting. The back nine are a different story. The fairways are narrow, the rough deep and the trees close in, as others have said; its also very steep. I would recommend this course for someone seeking a real challenge were it not for the condition of the fairways. The greens and tee boxes are truly in terrible shape, but Im willing to work around them. The fairways, however, are not playable. Several are just rock-hard dirt. Its simply impossible to control no matter how good your shots are. I lost three balls that landed square in the middle of a fairway, but rolled and bounced so crazily they ended up buried in the wood somewhere. Think of a golf ball bouncing around on concrete and youve got the picture. Ive been told that the maintenance crew are limited in what they can apply to the course because of its location, and this explains its condition. Not sure if thats true. Bottom line: Ill try it again in the spring to see if perhaps its better before the heat arrives, but for this year my advice is stay away from the back nine altogether. If you want 18 holes, go elsewhere.

You get what you pay for, and this place is not expensive. The front nine is fine. The back nine is really fun, but in unfortunate condition. The course is from the 1920s with a redesign (and shortening) in the 1950s. Some of the holes (mostly on the back nine) reflect that 1920s heritage; to me that means narrow and hilly. Thats fun for me, but may not be for you. This is a public city/district owned course. If this place makes any money, it is sent to the East Potomac courses (I dont really know that, but it could be an explanation). That being said, this is a place to play golf for small dollars that is in the District. If you dont expect Congressional and know you will get what you pay for, you’ll walk away with a smile. Enjoy it for what it is and hitem straight.

This Course is a sanctuary in the middle of the city. Sure the tee boxes are in rough shape and the fairways have issues but really, after a long week to stand in the middle of the 13th fairway, watch a herd of deer walk through and just realize how lucky we are. If you all are looking for a perfect course this is not it. But if you let that stuff go and want to have an enjoyable time you couldnt ask for more convenience, beauty and value. Suck it up boys its a game!

This could be one of the best courses in Washington DC. Much improved but new greens keeper has much to pick up. After significant neglect, the course received upgrades in irrigation of greens and trimmed trees on tight fairways. The front nine are a challenging short 29 par. Back nine are par 29 with tight fairways and unforgiving rough, requiring accurate tee shots. The back plays more like target golf and rewards laying up. Greens are small but playable.

Not that great of a course, though a few holes are pretty challenging, as theyre narrow and VERY unforgiving. All in all though the course isnt that well maintained and they seem to not believe in yardage markers at all here. Most holes only have the 100 yard mark indicated, and the scorecard and the yardage sign on the tee box disagree most of the time. I guess they can get away with it though since most other courses in the area are private!

Great location - front nine is more forgiving than the back nine. Staff is working on a very fixed budget and NPS rules limit the amount of tree removal needed to keep greens and fairways playable. In the heart of Rock Creek Park, a great walk not spoiled. Price is right. Not Queenstown, but filled with wild life...gotta trust your driver. Staff is much, much, nicer than the storm troopers at Potomac.

I played here in early 2007 and thought it was probably the worst course ive ever played. The greens were in horrible condition. I went again in July and only had to pay 1/2 price because the greens were in even worse condition than the last time, not even worth playing on.

Possibly the worst course Ive ever played and definitely the worst course Ive played in the DC Metro area. Youd be better off going to the driving range, especially since a few holes at this course require you to hit off mats anyways. All I can say is Ill never go back.

I play here at least once or twice a year. Yeah, its rough and tough. Back nine hilly, tight and charming. I like it. But I do "roll the ball". Its convenient, inexpensive and a lot of fun. Clubhouse is not much, but staff have always been professional.

The female clubhouse attendant was rude, I felt like I walked into an exclusive golf club with jeans shorts and a tee shirt. Ill spare the detials, but there are enough places around that I dont need to deal with that to play a junk course.

Without a doubt the absolute worst course Ive ever played. You cant tell the difference between the tee boxes, fairways and rough. Nice location, tons of potential, but for now its a total waste of your time and money.

If you want cheap golf course than this is the right place for you - front nine is ok. The staff is so so, depending on the mood I guess...a shame that such a good location doesnt have a better golf course...

The greens on this course were in very good shape. Everything else about this course is ridiculously terrible. Tough play. Could be a good course but with no par 5s....play somewhere else.

I actually find this course to be over priced for what you get. Inconsistent greens, shotty carts (needed to exchange twice), and not great service.

Hidden gem. Not crowded. Challenging Narrow and unforgiving. It could use some updating but great for being in the middle of the city.

Boo. Fix your greens, fairways and tee boxes and you would have one fun course. Until you do, drop you prices to 5 bucks a round.

Really short course in Rock Creek Park thats great if you want to get in a quick 9 or 18. Not ideal if you want a full 18 in.

Course conditions can be rough, but you cannot beat being out in Rock Creek Park with nature around you while you play.

Ive been coming here since I was very young. Pretty sure when I have children they will enjoy it just as much as I do

Poor condition. Poor track. Certainly worth driving the extra 20-30 minutes to play a real golf course.

Watch planes land. Also, nice flat trail that circles airport. Perfect for running or biking.

Great course for the price. Beware the back 9, some of the fairways are quite narrow!
