A friend and I played the course on July 16. We found the course to be in very good condition. The fairways were neatly mowed. The sand traps showed crisp edging with well raked sand. Numerous areas were marked as grounds under repair. These areas were planted with freshly contoured sod. As for the pace of play, we played the front nine in two hours and ten minutes. We will play the course again. The bar in the club house is another matter. As I sat at the bar I noticed the stemware hanging above the bar. The glasses were so dirty that you could not see through them. When I brought this to the bartenders attention, he explained to me, while eating popcorn and watching television, that "the glasses are dirty since they get used a lot." When I mentioned that crystal clean stemware makes a good impression on the visiting public, he informed me that the"place uses cheap soap, so it leaves a film." When I ask him as the bartender on duty if he was responsible for washing glasses, he said, "Im listening to you." He took his popcorn and left the bar not to return. Within a few minutes, his replacement came. I informed him of the dirty stemware. He said, "Whats wrong with them?" I got up from my seat and looked behind the bar. It is not surprising what I found. There was a three compartment sink. Sink one is for cleaning the stemware, one is for rinsing, and one is for sterilization. When I found the sinks, the bartender asked me if it passed my inspection." I said, "Yes, now start washing dishes." He did. In all fairness to the kids working behind the bar, I blame the managers for not training the bartenders how to do their job and then to offer them support and encouragement which would hopefully instill a measure of pride in their work. The kids will do what they are told, nothing more and nothing less. The managers need to watch a few episodes of "Bar Rescue."

What a great track! Played this course on Saturday as we were in town for a wedding. Was really worried what the conditions would be like, and was pleasantly surprised with everything. My son and I are both sub 5 handicappers and had another friend that is about a 10. Layout and conditions were good all the way around. Par 3s on the back 9 are very salty, 228 and 237 from our tees. Sand was firm in places but very playable. Greens rolled well and were consistent.. pretty fast from above the hole as you would expect. Rough was rough, but maintained well. Starter was very friendly and quite helpful. Tee Time 9:54, played in 4 hours 10 minutes.

The course looks fun, but I was pretty disappointed with the condition. I went on a Tuesday morning, and it looked like it had taken one hell of a beating the prior weekend. Greens were very pockmarked and the rough was way too long. Granted, when I used the driving range a couple days later, everything was trimmed up, but I dont know how the greens looked. Bottom line- when I am dropping $50 to golf on a weekday morning, I expect the course to be in better condition. The condition of the Glenn Dale course is much more consistent throughout the week, so I prefer to go there.

Awesome experience today. What a great course, love the changes in elevation. Course was busy for November and we played in less than 4 hours even though there was an hour frost delay that backed up our start time. Luckily the course had blocked a few tee times in case of frost. Staff was great. Starter told us we were expected to play in no more than 4:10. We did and our group will be back.

Must say I was very impressed with the improved conditions at UMDs course this year. I played many times before the renovations last summer, and wow, the fairways are much better, the maintenance around the bunkers is sharp, and the greens land/roll well. I always thought the course was average, now its definitely above average, making it one of the best value courses in the DC area.

Would not recommend this course to anyone! The pace of play is impossibly slow and no course employee seems to care. Ive sat on the first tee for over 30 minutes on several occasions for the groups ahead to move far enough ahead so I can tee off. Many fairways are in bad shape which only adds to my displeasure playing here.

The course seems to be getting in better shape every time I play it. Hard to beat the $20 dollar student rate, but it seems rather exorbitant for non-students. The restaurant and bar area are solid. Fairly easy course, but the trees and hills make it interesting and mildly challenging.

Played early in the season (early April), but the greens were in excellent shape. The fairways were solid with some patches of unevenness. The course is set up very well and has some great challenging holes. One of my favorite courses in the area and I would highly recommend it.

Not a good course if you like to kick back and play a slower game. Lots of singles and speed golfers. Literally had a guy behind us running for every hole. Having someone waiting on the tee box while you take your 2nd shot is pretty annoying. Nice course for the most part.

Good course not overly difficult. Greens still recovering from aeration and many fairways still have dormant grass. But its a great course and for the price a great value. If you are in the area definitely worth playing.

I played here for the first time yesterday. My experience from top to bottom was first class. Staff was friendly and the track was in great shape for this time of year. The course is challenging but worth the money.

Mulligans Grill (clubhouse restaurant) is a great place for lunch. Nice sized soup and salad bar; features hot entrees towards the end of the week.

Great layout, but theyve struggled with the condition of the course the past couple years since they redid the greens and fairways

The best public practice facility in the area. Fairways are still growing in but the greens and tee boxes are great.
