We stayed at this hotel for 15 days. Overall, it was not bad but the location is not very convenient especially because the shuttle service is limited. We had to be back at the hotel by 7:30 otherwise we had to take a taxi from the Union Station to the hotel and on weekends, there was no shuttle until 10:00 am and the last pick up from the Union Station was 6:15. And it ran every two hours. Some of the staff are extremely nice, specially, Jose, Alva, Karina, Lawrence and Edwin. The rest on the other hand are plainly in need of social skill training. My biggest issue was that our beddings were not changed until we asked them to after having been there for a 8 days. They also did not vacuum the floor and dust the furniture the entire time we were there. Sometimes, they did not give us shampoo and conditioner and would only give us 2 fresh towels even when all our towels were placed on the floor after 2 days of use. Also the breakfast was all carbohydrates, fruits and sweets, no protein whatsoever. Some of the servers were rude and would not give you water until you asked. Another thing, since it was not near stores and restaurants, it would have been nice if they had microwave in the room to heat up some of our left overs. What is the use of having a refrigerator in your room when you cant eat what you have placed in it cause you cant heat them up? We ended up wasting so much food as we have to have our food delivered every night and threw everything we did not finish. I hope these concerns will be addressed by the management because I really like the fact that most of the staff are deaf and the facility itself was great. If the cleaning people were doing their job and some staff would be a little more friendly like the ones I mentioned above, it would have been wonderful a wonderful stay for us. I am planning to travel back to DC next spring and would love to stay in the hotel again but if things are not addressed, even if I have some sort of affinity to the place having many members of my family being deaf, I dont think I will stay there again.

Overall nice last minute hotel for the DC area but the pictures for the site online dont accurately represent the condition of the room. On down the halls the walls are dirty in the light reflecting, the walls are missing a couple of paintings leaving the holes in the walls open. The carpet is covered with black gum like materials that have been there so long it is now apart of the floor. On entering the room we payed $130 a night for (while not including the $22 parking fee to park at the hotel) we found a dresser with the tv on top that was broken or appeared to be since there were slots in between each drawer that you could see the back of the wall. The floors in the room appeared to be clean but with further inspection by looking under the couch in the room we found dirt, bottlecaps, etc. The beds were no issue and were somewhat comfortable. Out of everything in the room the worst of all is the bathroom. The shower in the bathroom is designed with no lip to retain any water that may flow out under the curtain straight on in to the main floor of the bathroom making the entire floor in the bathroom slick with a nice coat of water. You can see the water damage to the bathroom sink since it is held up by wooden legs. You can see that the wooden has become saturated over time by the water that just freely flows from the shower to the entire bathroom floor. Another small issue is also the lack of water pressure provided by the shower head, the pressure could be compared to a facet being left on a little bit so that only has a light dribble so it takes quite awhile to rinse any soap off. Overall it was okay just for a last minute deal and for a bed to sleep in but not nearly worth paying $130 a night for including parking. If we ever visit DC again we will for sure be staying at a different hotel.

I have been traveling around the world for ten years, and this one is the worst one I have ever experienced! Service was terrible, and hardware was also terrible!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~ I booked 2 rooms and I have 2 receipts for both, but when I showed them to the receptionist, she said she can only find one room. It took me about half an hour waiting for her checking in the system. Then she said we could put our stuff in that room and go out first, then another room should be fine when we were back. However, when I entered the first room, I found the room was not cleaned at all! I had to went back to reception again to change another room. Then when we were back after 5 hours, I saw the receptionist hanging around outside the reception, I asked whether the second room was ready, she returned to the reception and said no, and she need to check in the system again. I was so tired and crazy at that time, I asked her why she couldnt do that that entire afternoon, she said she was busy helping with other guests. I said it was not my fault since I received 2 confirmation emails for both rooms, she should give me another room first and deal with the system issues later on her own. She said ok, and I waited for another 20 minutes for that!!! I originally booked 2-bed room, but she could only give me a one-bed room, when I went into it, I found it was a queen size bed. I asked for managers contact information and want to make a complaint, but the number could not get through. There was something even worse than that, the second morning, the toilet was clogged and all the messy in bath room! This is first time I wrote so many negative things for a hotel, I would definitely not recommend this hotel to all of my friends!

I am giving this a 4-star because its right on Gallaudet Universitys campus with its nice, serene surroundings. Its very quiet! Its convenient to Noma or Union Metro station. There is a shuttle, and its not a long walk from Noma anyway. The neighborhoods around Gallaudet has improved dramatically in the last few years. I walked around at night w/o fear. There are no junky cars, the houses and yards are well maintained. The streets are well lit and the houses dont have bars on their windows (all good signs of an improving neighborhood). In particular H-street NE has an abundance of good places to eat! And proximity to Metro means most of Washington DC is easily accessible. The rooms are clean but not fancy. The only downside is breakfast is not included and the on-site restaurants has lousy hours. You could try dining with the students. There is a deli at the student academic center, and a basic but good cafeteria open for all meals on campus. For eclectic dining, youll have to walk to H-street. Good value for your money if you dont pay too much. Do some price shopping because the same hotel gets listed for different prices at different web sites. Gallaudet is the worlds only liberal arts university for the deaf. But anybody can stay at the hotel. You dont need to know how to sign or be associated with the university.
