The manager (Michael) at San Juan Hills was a complete jerk! I accidentally booked two tee-times for the same day and he refused to cancel one, "without a 24 hour notice." It was a mistake and I actually called as a courtesy and was treated like he could care less. On top of that, i was charged for two golf carts...amazing!!!! Im going to get my money back through disputing with my CC company but in the meantime I intend to write as many reviews as possible, file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and discourage any and everyone I know from playing at this course. I am also going to write a letter to the general manger, head pro, and the hospitality rep. I rarely write reviews and letters so when I do, you can bet I was treated really well or really badly. you can guess which was the case here.

I had not played their in a while and could not believe great the entire experience was. The course has a great layout, offers fun risk/reward opportunities. The greens were the best i have putted on in a long time. Everyone was friendly and Sports Bar after the round was the best. We sat on the patio, watched some college football and the food was really good, much different (better) than you would expect at a golf course, i look forward to going back and just hanging out at the Sports Bar. I highly recommend playing San Juan Hills and Sports Bar.

What is great about this course is that every hole is different, and considering the topography of the land and the unusual situation of the layout, there are several unique shots to be played. For good golfers, this is a fun course to score on because it resembles those "sporty" old-school tracks. Overall, this course really does seem like a hidden gem. Theres also no bullshitting in the pro shop because its so small compared to the cafe. By the way, I think the price is only right if you sign up for their email list.

Showed up on 4/6/15 for a 12:00 tee time and was never told in the pro shop that only the front nine was playable due to aerating the back nine, the starter told us as we were getting ready to tee off and was surprised we were not told in advance. Play was very slow, after you played the first nine you came around to the play front nine again to get your 18 holes in, the guy I was playing with and myself quit after the first nine it was so slow. The pro shop blew it by not stating what was going on with the course

They are working hard to make improvements and the rain this winter has also helped. Always smooth but tricky greens are this courses best defense. They have redone many of the bunkers, lowered some, eliminated a couple and put in new sand. Fairways are still rough in a lot of places. Some of the "ground under repair" has been under repair for years. Food is good but pricey. Used to give you a "score beer" as an enticement to stop in after a round but discontinued that recently so we dont eat there anymore.

~ Great fairway conditions, especially considering our current drought. ~ Greens are nice and undulating. Makes for challenging lines at times. Some greens had imperfections here and there, but overall didnt affect putts too drastically. ~ Sand is nice and soft, almost beachy. ~ Some of the staff are a bit surly, but for the most part its a laid back course with a "semi-private" feel. ~ Nice driving range about 1/4 mile away down the road from the actual clubhouse and course. Putting green is by the clubhouse.

Just showed up at 8:05, asked what time it what and the guy that worked at the shack said 8:20 because he didnt want to let us hit. 5 minutes after. Thats what we in the world like to call terrible customer service. Lying so you dont have to be courteous. By the way, they say online they close at 9 but really they close at 8. So be careful. I will never come back and will be sure to tell everyone I know that this place is wont treat them with respect.

Been playing here for several years and this course is the best in OC for the price. You could travel a little north and play for $175 and feel empty and sad inside...or hop, skip, jump your way into SJHGC and pay have that at most for an amazing day on the golf course. Fairways are great, greens are fast, always a challenge in a different way each time you play.

course is great and picturesque and very inexpensive during week ($22). I have golfed there twice during the week and is incredibly slow. It took 3 hours to finish 9 holes. I probably wont return as both times pace of play was to much to deal with and they need better field marshals. Greens are choppy and slow too.

For a shorter course it can be very challenging. Especially the greens which are usually pretty fast and difficult to read. Since its a public course it gets a lot of use and shows a bit of wear, otherwise, with the friendly staff, nice driving range and practice areas, it would be 5 stars.

Great value and a pretty cool course. Twilight rates here are excellent compared to the surrounding courses. The course itself is in pretty good shape. There are some challenging holes but for the most part it is a very fun course. Definitely worth trying.

As of March 2017 the course has never looked or played better. The bunkers have been rebuilt complete with new sand. The clubhouse and patio are fairly new and a great place to hang out. Well done San Juan Hills.

Got a last minute tee time staff was friendly and accommodating. Green fees were reasonable. Course was in very good condition, greens were challenging you need a good read or it will slip by.

Good course but can be really slow at times. Not much for player assistance there to help move things along
