This is a very interesting, lesser known attraction in San Francisco. Sitting on the end of long jetty, the views are lovely. The organ itself is set up with different tubes at different levels, giving you the opportunity to experience the sounds it makes in different settings. The sound is random, so it may or may not provide you with a massively musical experience! A great place to sit, relax, take in the view, watch sea life, and check out the boats! Pro tip - although it seems like you have to park fairly far away and walk, there are a few spots in front of the club which is very close to the Wave Organ.

Hugely helpful tip, GPS your way to the Golden Gate Yacht Club. There is parking down there by the small brick lighthouse. Then you walk out on the jetty to find the Wave Organ. Really get down and put your ear near the pipes. Each one sounds a little bit different. The views of Alcatraz, Angel Island, Golden Gate Bridge, and of downtown San Francisco are incredible out there. It can get windy, but its a wonderful walk.

Ive got a mixed opinion on this place. Its a very nice spot to walk out to, because its generally not very crowded and you get good views of the bay, not to mention how nice the actual organ looks. However, the organ itself isnt very impressive or worth the walk out, because the sounds, while interesting, mostly just sound like water passing through pipes. Worthy trip for locals, but for tourists its best to skip.

Its a pretty view but the pipes make no sound. It was disappointing and the other people that were there when I showed up literally had their ears to the pipes. Also, parking is a mile away. It would have been nice for a low-key picnic with a pretty view but since we werent aware/prepared it was a bit of a disappointment.

The wave organ is wave-activated acoustic sculpture that uses a series of pipes that interact with the waves producing amazing melodies. 25 organ pipes made of PVC and concrete located at various elevations within the site, allowing for the rise and fall of the tides. Constructed by the Exploratorium back in 1986.

It is a nice calm spot in the city. About 10-15 min walk from the nearest parking lot. If you go during the high tide, youll hear the sound quite well or else youll have to put your ears to the pipes. Make sure the pipes dont have any critters!

Heads up, Check the tide before you go... This place is so lovely, cozy, romantic, and just simply beautiful, and thats without considering the organ part of it... Time well spent here anytime even in the middle of the night.

It is a long walk out to the end of the wharf. The wave organ is neat, but only sounds like water splashing up a pipe. The best part is the views you get from the wharf. The organ is a neat after thought.

Best at high tide/full moon (according to the sign.) Not super impressive to go see, but its nice. Very few people around and can usually find a place to park by the yacht club or Marina Green Dr.

Super cool to see. Great for kids to play near. I enjoyed and was happy that my cousin brought me here to experience San Fran water and art. I would recommend a stop here.

A definite secret place of San Francisco. Listen to the organs play the music of the sea! Its a nice place to get away from the city and to just sit down and relax.

Its a really interesting spot to hang out on the water. The sloshing sounds in the periscope-like tubes is fun to listen to. And theres a nice view of the skyline.

Dont go expecting the music of the sea. Theres a bit of sloshing and whistling sounds and that was about it. It is however a beautiful spot for a romantic picnic.

Nice and quiet, best to visit after a few days of hustle and bustle in the city. Not really music coming out of the organs but just listen to the waves crash.

Doesnt work unless you are there during high tide. Its just past the St. Francis Yacht Club, along a rather secluded walkway toward and along the water.

Un petit port très bien située dans la baie de San Fran.

If your a local youve got to check this out. If your on vacation its not really worth your time as its in disrepair. It does sound cool though.

A place to recognize a human ingenuity in a place where people fell in love with the city and wanted to make it there own this is a part of that

Meh. The listening tubes dont give you beautiful sounds and "music" like the wave organ in Croatia, it just sounds like a toilet gurgling.

So cool! Best heard durning high tide on a full moon, but cool to visit during the day even though you may not hear the pipes.

Notice the breaker that hosts the organ is made from tombstone and monument fragments taken from a demolished city cemetery

Rarely crowded place on the water in San Francisco. Catch the organ at the right time and you get a symphony of sounds.

Not sure what I was supposed to be hearing, sounded just like splashing and gurgling. Scenic place otherwise though.
