Spectacular Romanesque "Temple" built in the 1930s to celebrate the end of the journey of water from the Hetch Hetchy reservoir in Yosemite to the San Francisco Peninsula. Fronted by a beautiful reflecting pool and Italian-style Cypress trees give this area a relaxed and serene landscape perfect for picnicking after a long bike ride. A glorious and under appreciated gem on the Mid Peninsula.

In September, I visited the Pulgas Water Temple twice. The grounds are expansive and walkable. The pools make you feel you are returning to another time. Fittingly this was built in the 1930s during the WPA period. This is a Bay Area hidden treasure. I would suggest going there on the weekend. Walk the grounds and be amazed.

Beautiful Place to see and enjoy the peaceful surrounding. Grounds are very well maintained. Reflecting pool offers excellent backdrop to take pictures One should taste fresh Hetchy waters at the entrance. They are open till 4pm,and are closed during the weekends,unfortunately.

This is a pretty place to stop and refill your water bottles as you bicycle along Canada Road. The parking lot is closed to cars on weekends, but bicycles and pedestrians can usually go through the gate.
