Great experience. If you are traveling down the Historic Highway to see the falls make sure to take a minute and stop here. Theres great views of the river and mountains from the second store balcony. Also there are restrooms (important find as there arent many on this waterfall trip). The architecture of the building is stunning. It has a second story balcony as stated and an underground art gallery, gift shop and restrooms. They sell your normal tourist/visitor type memorabilia as well as snacks and coffee!!

Favorite stop on Columbia Gorge Historic Highway. Some days its beautiful and calm. Most days its windy. Hang onto your hat. This day was rainy. Probably early. Rarely is parking lot so empty. Must see when youre in the area. Built as stop off point for the 1920s cars touring the new highway, the only route to this place is narrow, with cliff side roads. No neighborhood roads to here. If you are beginning driver I can not recommend. Roads are not conducive to jogging or riding bikes.

Vista House has phenomenal views of the Columbia River Gorge and is worth the trip if you are in the area. There are amazing views in all directions and the building is beautiful inside as well. You can go upstairs and there is a viewing balcony. Downstairs there are restrooms and some historic information. On the main floor there are some helpful volunteers who can give you guidance and maps showing the many waterfalls in the area.

Its a Bathroom! Seriously read the history, it was a designed way stop during the highway construction. Gorgeous views and cool location. Its a quick stop with nothing to eat nearby. There is a small store down the store that offers smoked BBQ however. It is close to the Falls if you want to go hiking afterwards. The road up is a little windy but it only adds fifteen minutes to your trip if you are headed to Hood River from Portland.

Incredibly beautiful view. Vista House certainly lives up to its name. Stop to enjoy the view and check out the cool architecture of this old structure. Im amazed they were able to build this when they did - some of the pictures on display show just how remote and difficult the terrain must have been. Im glad they did build it, though, as we can now enjoy it.

Beautiful indeed! The drive to the Vista House had my family and I on edge. There are two ways to get here, and I definitely recommend roads thru neighborhoods. Unless if you enjoy cliff side roads! The interior of the building is beautiful and breathtaking. Im still in awe of the marbled floors and walls. The view was also a plus.

Beautiful views of the Columbia River Gorge to the East and the Portland metropolitan area to the West. Vista house at Crown Point is situated high up on the Cliffs of the Columbia River Gorge, and the sunrises and sunsets here can be quite stunning. It can get quite windy as well at times here, but its always worth a stop.

My husband and I were only here for a short time... once during the early morning, and another during the late night. We came here primarily for the views. Ive never been inside since its been closed on the times I went. Views are amazing here. You can see the Columbia River, Washington, and Oregon from up top. :)

One of the best views of the Columbia River Gorge can be seen from Vista house -- a 360 degree perspective at the highest point of the old highway. Keep heading up the hill to Sherrard Point on Larch Mountain and on a clear day you will see every mountain in the Northwest. Take along lunch and binoculars.

This is about 15-30 minutes out of your way when visiting the Gorge. Our visit was on a Saturday in the Summer and the place was not crowded (parking 90% full). It was worth the view and history to visit. Great place to take pictures with the family. We continued on to some of the falls afterward.

Parking may be a challenge, but its manageable. Restroom smells pretty bad. Theres a tiny gift shop underground. Most people take pictures of the river from the Vista House. If you walk down the steps to the road, youd get a better view without the lamp posts in your photos. The view is amazing.

Visited twice : first time stormy May Day. Just enough mixture of rain clouds and sun to make for beautiful view. Very few people building closed. Next was beautiful clear calm June day lots of people. Building was open. Nice place clean and impressive including restrooms

Beautiful views when the weather allows. Very fun foggy views otherwise. The historic stone building is a good place to visit with out of town guests, or if youre from out of town and looking for a bit of Portland history, take a drive out and check it out.

The architecture of this building is unique and fits well with the surrounding scenery, but words arent enough to describe the views of the Gorge from here. Truly awe-inspiring. Definitely worth the somewhat complicated diversion from I-84 out of Portland

Loved the view of the Columbia gorge from the top of the house. They have a little museum below, a snack/coffee shop, souvenir, restroom. On July 4th, people flock around the place to have a view of the amazing fireworks in the city.

Nice view of the Columbia River Gorge. Parking is horrible. I have inly been to the ground level of the house itself, stairs are not the easiest for me with a bum leg. Lots of interesting detail to see and photograph there though.

The Vista House is an awesome classic structure with a great view of the Columbia. There is a lot of history in that small structure and the volunteers are happy to answer and questions about the entire area.

This a great view. Out of all the times I visited I just recently took the house tour. It is open seasonally but the history inside is great and the the view gets even better from the top of the Vista House.

A must see if visiting the Gorge. Beautiful, breathtaking views on a clear day. Excellent place to start your tour of the gorge sites with out-of-towners. Good restroom facilities. Plus, its free!

We went there on a sunny day in April, amazing view looking at the Columbia river and mountains in Washington. Driving to the Vista House is very enjoyable because of the nice trees along the way.

Pretty old building with a great view. Very windy, hold on to your hats! Very limited parking. The best views are from the top floor. There is a gift shop and coffee bar on the lowest level.
