Orinda Theatre is not just a place to catch a movie; it's a historical landmark with an Art Deco design that enhances the cinematic experience. It offers a variety of films to cater to different tastes, making it a cultural hub in Orinda. With its convenient location and the added value of nearby restaurants and attractions, it's a place that promises more than just a movie night out.

I love this beautiful, classic theater. Built in 1941, this art deco style gem is worth the trip to see a film. The main theater holds 750 with gorgeous 1940s paintings and carvings on the walls and ceiling. The middle theater seats 250 and is equally beautiful. There is also tiny 35+/- theater that I dont attend very often; call the theater before going to see in which theater the movie is being screened. Good restaurants and bars in Theater Square. Parking can be tricky, but there is free parking on the street and a free parking garage under the theater complex.

Such a wonderful alternate to the sterile cookie-cutter theater environments of new movie theaters. See movies how they were meant to be experienced! The art deco grandeur of the Orinda Theater adds so much to the pleasure of seeing a movie. Plus, there are never crowds with long lines, and parking is free, plentiful, and easy. Restaurants are literally next door and have excellent food at reasonable prices. Support our local treasure by seeing movies here!!

Love this art deco theater. It often shows films with depth. My only criticism is that foreign films, now the destination of most film meetups, are shown in the smallest theater and run for too short a time. A second film meetup wanted to see Tangerines but it didnt run long enough to get tits members there on meetup night (Thur). Follow the trend to showcase international and doc films. Youll draw film buffs from around the Bay Area.

I have enjoyed this theater tremendously even going back to Saturday matinees when I was a crossing guard at Del Rey School and got free passes! The deco decor in the main theater is just marvelous. But most important they show a great mix of first run and more "arty" films at the same time.

Movie Sully in big theatre went black three times. Each time, the manager reacted as if it was a bother to have to fix it. We drive 40 miles to enjoy the movie in that grand old house -- will not do that again. Boo on the manager for handling it so poorly.

Been going here sine I was a kidm when I wanted to get away from the press and crush of places like UA in berkeley, and Bay complex in Emeryville. On occasion you will be asked for some grey poupon, by some of the locals, so come prepared.

This theatre is beautiful. It captures the old school charm of its original design, while also blending in the modern amenities and features of todays theaters. I would definitely go back and see another movie here.

What can you say about this classic theater which retains its original appeal despite some necessary renovations years back to include extra themed theaters
